Ok so i have not updated this since Brisbane which was months ago, and im not going to bother trying to catch up, so i have just arrived in South America and ill try to keep up to date from now on. missed out month in New zealand but ill tell you all about it when i get back over many weeks of stories. We landed around 10 days ago in Santiago, Chile and were met with chaos, taxi drivers trying to literally take our backpacks and put in boots to take us and we had said no, eventually we gave [View Full Entry]

So we arrived in Brisbane expecting very little as most people hate it. We orignally planned to stay a week but only lasted 4 days. As a city its pretty dull and very much centered around office like and a concrete jungle that reminded me of a typical city up north. Now for the good bits. Streets beach is a manmade lagoon and beach in the heart of the city next to Brisbane river and is really nice on a hot day. The botanical gardens had some great wildlife in them and the free bus got us around the city with [View Full Entry]

Noosa

 Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Noosa
We continued to travel with the girls to Noosa as well as Stephane. we stayed at Koalas which was pretty good. the town of noosa is very upmarket and probably a little too classy for the backpacker but it made a really good change. the beach was awesome and the waves were pretty intense. we went to the national park and seen some koalas and some pretty cool sand sculptures. I managed to do my hair for the first time on the whole trip in Noosa, oh the memories. We went out and met some friends, we were chauffered around in [View Full Entry]

Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world and we went on a selfdrive 4wd jeep safari over there. me stu, caroline and camilla, and stephane who were all on the boat for whitsundays, amongst some french that were abit of a nightmare. We went out there in the jeep and the weather got the better of us, it was a monsoon and we camped on the beach in it. not clever but had no choice as the tide cut us off. was an experience though and we even managed an aussie bbq on the beach (under a tarp [View Full Entry]

Hey people, im wayyy behind on this now so i will be brief, Airlie Beach is the gateway to the whitsundays, 72 islands of pristine beaches and amazing views. We went on a 3day 2 night sailing trip which was amazing. we met some really cool people, 2 of which we travelled with for the next 2 weeks down the coast. we snorkelled with turtles, spotted dolphins and swam with sharks and rays. Really was a once in a lifetime thing again that will stick with me for a longtime. We had a captain that went on a speedboat to another [View Full Entry]

Townsville

 Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Townsville
this is the place where iain will be living so we had to come and check it out. its a pretty cool little place, kind of a student town with a little more about it. we had a good few beers here and went to magnetic island. magnetic island is a chilled out escape from it all kind of place, i think we have been a little spoilt and it wasnt the best island we've been to its was a little boring but still a good rest. we went swimming in the enclosures, no access to the sea as its stinger [View Full Entry]

Okay so im still way behind with this, i went out on the great barrier reef, on a boat called reef quest. we went out on a beautiful day which was extremely lucky given the weather in cairns. I got my scuba gear on and into the sea i went. we went down and the coral was amazing, really colourful and so much marine life. i seen nemo fish, and all kinds of other tropical fish that i couldnt identify. it really was an unbeliveable experience. i went for a second dive which somehow topped the first one. we went for [View Full Entry]

Cairns

Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Cairns » Cairns City
Okay so first off i have got a little bit behind with the blog as i have been very busy and simply havn't had the time to come on the net for long enough to do anything about it. Having arrived in carins we got a lift to the hostel that we were staying at. the weather is terrible, and i can instantly see why pretty much the whole of Queensland has been flooded in recent weeks. here there are two seasons, the wet and the dry and we are just entering the wet season. the hostel seems good and the [View Full Entry]
