Hiiiii. I'm in Switzerland! It's so awesome here, we're in a little town called Interlaken which is surrounded by mountains. We only got here yesterday afternoon and sadly we are leaving tomorrow. Yesterday we didn't do much, we had to get up some ungodly hour in the morning in order to catch a train from Gare De Lyon in Paris to get here. The hostel we're staying in is the nicest we've stayed in so far. We have a 6 bed dorm which we're sharing with one other guy called James. Yesterday afternoon we went for a walk and James swam in the freezing lake, crazy English. At night we spent ages trying to find cheap food eventuallz we found an awesome pizza place. We got pizza for 7 francs! BARGAIN! We also went out that ... read more

OH MY LORD an update! And so soon after the previous one... how strange eh. I leave for Barcelona in 5 days and Carla and Megan get here tomorrow so I thought I should write something here 'cause I doubt i'll have time before we leave. Only a few things to update about really - last Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Friday I was on my way home from work, minding my own business, the Tube was packed and I had just gotten on at Leicester Square. So yes I was squashed against some idiot who wouldn't move forward because he was reading the paper so one of my hands was pinned to my side, I had no choice but to hold on with my other hand which had my bag under it. Just as the ... read more

Wow I am very sorry (because I know you have all been hanging out for my next entry) I haven't updated in so very long. More than a month actually... and my last words in my last entry were 'I will try and update this thing more often'. Whoops. Hmmk so when I updated last we had just left our hostel and settled down in my cousin Tig's house to mind it for 2 weeks. That was brilliant having a house to ourselves in London. Unfortunately since I started that job at the cinema I have been working 5 days a week every week apart from 10 days back in Manchester. Between the time we first got to London and when we went back to Manchester the only things of note we did were going to ... read more

Hiiiii everybody! Sorry about the very long space between updates of this thing but for the past two weeks I have been a) staying in a friend of a friends house, and b) staying in a hostel, so we had no way to access the internet unless we were willing to pay. And seeing as Alex and I are struggling backpackers we were not willing to pay. Unfortunately I have a horrible memory sooo I will only be able to remember portions of what we've been doing and definitely not in the right order but I will try and make a bit of sense atleast. On Tuesday the 3rd of July we caught the train down from Manchester to London. When we were on the train these three people asked if they could take our ... read more

Hiya. Today is our second last day in Manchester, we are off to London on Tuesday. I'll miss the Mancunians and their accents. Londoner accents sound so whiny compared to the Northeners. Oh well i'm looking forward to London all the same, it's going to be great. On Tuesday night we're going to Frank Sidebottom's private art exhibition opening. Free food, drink and of course we get to meet FRANK. Finally. We also have to find jobs in London straight away. We can't actually stay at my cousin Tig's house until the 16th of July, so when we get to London we're staying with a friend of a friend but I have no idea how long she'll let us stay. Sooo we may have to find a youth hostel, which is why we must get ... read more

Hiiiiii. Sorry about the long wait between entries, but I've been busy since Alex arrived and it's hard to find time to write a long entry. But this entry shall be long. With many photos! Hooray! I'm gonna start from last Saturday which is when Alex arrived, because, to be honest, I can't actually remember what I did the week before. It's not that I didn't do exciting things, I just have a bad memory. Actually I can remember one thing I did, which we were meant to be saving for the night Alex arrived, but then she got stuck in Singapore, we went and had dinner during PIE WEEK. A pub just outside of Manchester held Traditional Pie Week last week so of course we had to attend. Our pies were bloody enormous too, ... read more

I haven't updated for a little while so I thought I should write something, even though I haven't done anything particularly interesting. Last weekend I went to a free music festival called EuroCultured. It was a festival for European bands, the only ones I'd heard of were Datarock and Swordfishtrombones. I got to see a couple of good Manchester bands there, and I saw this comedian called Frank Sidebottom who is kinda like a local celebrity here. He has a papier-mache head. Frank Sidebottom's myspace - go and look! He is great. I was hanging round to get a photo with him but he disappeared. Ah well. That day the weather decided to be annoying and go from quite cold to freezing. I didn't realise this so I wore warm-ish clothes outside in 9 degree ... read more

Hallo there fair people. Let me see where am I up to? I guess I don't have all that much to write about, and I don't really want to bore you with some of the things I've been doing lately. HOWEVER, this is my blog and you've chosen to read it so i'll bore you with whatever I bloody well like! I've been doing a bit of job hunting lately. I went to an Australian themed bar called Uluru the other day to apply for a job. I didn't realise I would sink that low so quickly. They didn't have any jobs going then, which is lucky because the place smelt funny. I also got an application for a bookstore near my house, that would be a good job to have 'cause it's so close. ... read more

Still in Manchester... Europe » United Kingdom » England » Manchester By lucyyy May 21st 2007I hadn't uploaded my photos when I made the previous entry, so here are a few. I had a photo of Badly Drawn Boy's favourite fish & chip shop, but I can't find it right now. Sorry to disappoint, you won't be able to see that chip shop today.... read more

May 19th 2007

Soooo, here is my travel blog. I decided to write this because I am quite lazy and can't be bothered sending loads of people individual emails. Thus, this blog was born. Right now I am sitting in the front room of my uncle's house in Manchester, it is 9:35pm but still light outside. It also gets light at around 5am every morning. Bloody weird. I guess I should start right at the beginning, 6 days ago. Originally my flight was to leave at 4:20 that afternoon, but there was some sort of problem with the plane and we didn't find out 'til we got to the airport that my flight was delayed for 5 hours. And yes I got a nice bollocking from my mum who said THAT is why I should always call to confirm ... read more
