It's weird, after staying in all day we went for a walk at about 6:30 hoping to enjoy the festivities at the old square market. I had read that on Xmas eve the food stalls stay open until midnight, wrong, the whole market was closed. There were still plenty of people around the square and bus loads of tourists walking past our door to the bridge but nothing apart from the mini mart and the occasional restaurant was open. We actually got to see what Prague looks like without people around because the streets off the main tourist route were empty. [View Full Entry]

Well we bought presents for each other now so we're all set for Christmas. Now we just have to figure out what we are going to do. I wish it would snow so at least it will be white. [View Full Entry]

It's a real pity that more of the foreign shows/movies on the telly aren't subtitled. We saw a movie in English the other day that was subtitled and we picked up more Czech looking at that than all the time we've been here. We really must buy some presents for each other tomorrow. We saw some lovely old toys and lots of Barbie dolls today. I didn't realise that Barbie was just a copy of a German doll from about 7 years earlier. [View Full Entry]

We went skiing today and I'm probably the worst skier ever. Janette and Akira were almost hurtling down the slope after their lesson, I on the other hand freaked out and ended up walking down... not an easy feat, fortunately a kind man took pity on me and carried my skis down the bottom for me so I didn't have to carry them. I'll have to try again for Akira's sake but I'm not looking forward to it. I'd much prefer to build a snowman. [View Full Entry]

After much searching Janette bought not only one pair of boots but two. Not only that but they were the first boots we'd looked at (in a window) and they just happened to be 50% off. Apart from that we didn't really do anything because we're going skiing tomorrow and we have to be up and out by 6am. [View Full Entry]

We saw another beautiful church, buildings and scenery at Kutná Hora today. The town wasn't very inspiring apart from the old area but I'm glad we went. The Sedlec Ossuary was extremely interesting, I don't know how they managed to have the bones of 40,000 people but they made very nice decorations. [View Full Entry]

The crowds of tourists here really are overwhelming. The picture I took doesn't do justice to it. Wenceslus Square they looked like Harajuku on a pleasant Sunday afternoon. You'd think the freezing cold weather would put them off. Admittedly I was part of it. [View Full Entry]

Went to the Mucha Museum today which was very interesting and gave us a few ideas where else to visit. We bought a Mucha poster book which is really lovely and will give us plenty of pictures to put around our flats. We also finally bought ski pants and I booked us to go skiing on Wednesday.
