The day started off really badly. I couldn't get onto the other place because she wasn't answering the phone and I couldn't find anywhere to go online on a Sunday. After much walking and worrying I finally managed to get Ned out of bed and out of the horrible place at lunch time. We couldn't find anywhere with wifi or even an internet cafe even near La Rambla. After an hour or so of dragging our bags all over town we found a Starbucks with free wifi. Surprise, surprise the room we thought we had was booked so we checked out Craigslist and found that our 3rd choice (because it was more expensive) would take us. We are happy now, our room is stunning it has wifi, big windows with views of the harbour and a ... read more

After finding out that we could stay at the other place that definitely has wifi for the last 3 nights we told her of the problem we had but she said the money was already banked and she couldn't give us a refund. I later broke down and said that she mislead us and how unhappy we were and how could she want us in her house when we so obviously didn't want to be there. She eventually said we could leave the next day but she wouldn't give us a full refund and she'd keep the deposit to pay for the bloody lock (she owed us €140, she kept half). We agreed because we couldn't bear to be there any longer than we had to, besides even if we had stayed she'd have taken the ... read more

Barcelona is warm and beautiful but our accommodation has really spoilt it for us. After a long walk we got home and the key got stuck in the front door to the apartment building. After much anxiety and hours of fuss it is okay now. We've decided that we are going to go somewhere else if we can get our money back. Hopefully that won't be a problem. ... read more

All went well smoothly on our flight. Just when we had time to kill before we could meet the girl from the place we're staying the flight got in half an hour early. We had to spend a couple of hours in a cafe down the road from the place. Free wifi with cheap coffees but it isn't 'downstairs' like she led us to believe. After specifically asking her about internet access before we booked and being told they have a 'pirated' connection 85% of the time it turns out to be up until now 0% of the time. We're not impressed. To top it all off Ned has the flu now.... read more

Janette was feeling crook today too unfortunately. Hopefully she'll feel better when we head off to Barcelona tomorrow. I went around trying to find somewhere to send a fax from, not as easy as I was led to believe. I ended up going to an internet cafe and the girl there scanned and emailed it instead. ... read more

We went out and saw the Dali exhibition finally. It was okay but the weather was outstanding. Beautiful blue sky and the sun making the gold on the cathedral glisten it was really lovely. I don't know why I didn't think to take a photo.... read more

I woke up this morning with a bad case of the flu but I had to go for a walk just to finally experience Prague with a decent snowfall. It was worth it, especially while it was still actually snowing. This afternoon I went out with Janette and the sky was so beautiful, it's just a pity that we couldn't convince Akira to come out with his camera. He also has the flu but he's sensibly staying indoors.... read more

What a lovely city, so many more things to see, we're sorry to leave. It's easy to get around, the people are generally friendly and helpful and the food it really nice and what we had wasn't even expensive. I definitely want to return one day. The bus home was painless and once again it was white all the way but Prague isn't.... read more

The apartment we are staying in is a fabulous massive old one in the centre of Vienna. We couldn't be better situated and best of all because it is through HC it is free. Sissy and her daughter Christine are easy-going and Vienna has the biggest and probably the most attractive CBD I've ever seen, the only problem is the shops/museums close too early.... read more
