Well, as you may have noticed Jeff and I haven't done anything at all after the Blue Mountains.......well, okay we all know that's not true cause I'm writing from Singapore at 4 am waiting for our flight to Bangkok. The problem with this blog was not the lack of desire to share our trip but rather the difficulty in posting photo's and thus ultimately the loss of inspiration to share stories without the picture to go with. But needless to say, there will be a whole bunch of photos and stories to share with upon our return.....May 12th!!! Can't wait to catch up with everyone. See you soon!!!... read more

(S) After we travelled down from the Granite Belt and skipped through The Hunter Valley (sigh, but I'm determined to make a trip of it soon!!) We found ourselves in the Blue Mountains ALOT sooner than we anticipated!! We drove through the clouds for hours as we climbed the mountain to an elevation of about 3000 ft. It was pretty cool, quite a scenic drive, I can only imagine what the scene looked like if we could see BEYOND the clouds! We arrived about 7pm just when it was getting dark and I finally got to see my dear friend Kristen again after 10 years! It was a highly anticipated arrival on all our parts and we met her daughter Jaida who is 6 going on 12! Craziness. After spending a few days catching up, Jeff ... read more

(S) So in the last few weeks we have found ourselves driving through Queensland outback, down through some cool National Parks, windy roads, waterfalls and mountainous regions (perhaps foothills), to the coastline of Byron Bay and up the Gold Coast to visit some good friends. Nightcap National park was a gem to find and to get there we really put Betsy to the test. All the roads were narrow (very narrow) up hills, down hills, winding around coffee and nut farms for miles on end. We visited the infamous Nimbin where the Hippie lives undisturbed (other than the bus loads of backpackers coming through to sample some of the best local grown herb around) and we thoroughly enjoyed the...atmosphere. I couldn't keep a smile off my face...at the cliche of the place. It was far out ... read more

(J) Sorry for not posting for so long, were in aus now but i thought everyone would like to know what we've been doing for the last couple weeks. Chiang-mai was a very cool city tonnes of stuff to do....and we did do a lot!!!! (S) One of my favorite things to do in Thailand was cruising the countryside on the back of a motorbike and take in the scenery. We managed to find a few parks and waterfalls of which we thought would be an awesome place to pack a lunch and stop, but we were never REALLY that organized. Our plans stopped at getting on the bike and riding North! I took off for 4 days to a vegetarian cooking homestay which was located right beside a sustainable organic farm. They had just wrapped ... read more

Well we spent a couple days on the uber sweet islands in the gulf of Thailand, they were beautiful, but we got sick of stuff being so expensive compared to the mainland, not to mention the lack of Thai culture. So we crossed Thailand last night on a bus and came to krabi, the hippy climbing town on the Andemon sea. I'm hoping to check out Railay beach (sweet climbing) tomorrow and bust some sweet moves. Dam it's hot, laity between 11 and 2 we have to chill in our room because we just sweat constantly......good..... bad we still can't decide!!! Hope all is well at home back in Canada! We've met two Canucks thus far, but mostly its Swedish, Brits and Aussies. we've made a couple of friends while pounding back the tasty Chang beer!! ... read more

Well, we left Cha-am to head south down to the islands about 6 days ago. We thought a train trip would be fun and an exciting way to see the landscape so we headed toward the station. Since we were in an area that most local Thai's go on vacation, English was hard to come by and there was a lot of miss communication. Having said that we ended up on a train on 3rd class down the coast for the price of a chocolate bar. The price really was the best part of that trip (REALLY) and it was a gruelling 6 hrs. We've been island hoping the past week and it's been really beautiful, but rather exhausting too. It's been tough trying to find comfortable places that fit within our budget and so basically ... read more
