Trip the Venezia with my girls (my cousin & our common friend), and it was so good to be together, the sun was with us, and the tourists also! Well, I didn't decide to go to Italy as I have little interest in this country... and also since we lost the world cup :s Well, I have to say that Venise is worth going there, it's unique and beautiful. Not because of the water, hehe, but I was first amazed by those different architectures. These littles streets and all those churchs. ... read more

New Blog dedicated to my trips only ^^ So on July 7th, I decided to go to Mexico with my sister. It's cool that she could take days off whenever she wants. We took a last minute trip on the internet, and I must admit that I didn't even have time to prepare what to see, how to speak with the local people etc. I regret it, but anyway, I had discovered a very nice country. I'll go back for sure! ... read more

Trying to feel how it is to be a Maya. It's just amazing to know that a population like this still exists nowadays! After a few hours, we arrived to Chichen Itza, a Mayan temple surrounded by soldiers' shelter, game field and astronomy. There were something like 50 000 Mayans living there with all the rituals and sacrifices between the 11th the 15th century if I have a good memory. That day was fucking hot, and we also had rain for 10 minutes (the only moment we had rain since we came!). I could discovered that their belief in their god (the sun) was really strong, it was mainly related to the weather. As they need to feed the population, there was a lot of pressure on agriculture and so they pray and made sacrifices to ... read more

July 12th 2006

Well, that day wasn't sunny at all, so I decided to move and see other things than Cancun. We took a small bus for 35 pesos to Playa del Carmen, another beach, and a different one actually. After an hour or something, we arrived at the 5th avenue, it's a shopping avenue where there's a lot of restaurants and many shops selling swimmwears and the same stuffs as in Cancun, you know silver, sombreros etc... The beach wasn't as beautiful as in Cancun. I used to see white sand instead of yellow one. What is good is you can't find huge buildings hiding the sea, it's more typical, but anyway, very touristic!... read more

It was one of the most memorable days in Cancun. I decided to move as I hate staying in the same place doing nothing. And so, we went to Isla Mujeres, just in front of our hotel with the goal to swim with the fishes. And we did it!!! It was my first esperience in snorkelling and it's soooo cool. So we arrived at the port and tried to find something cheap. People were like jumping at you, just when you get out of the boat... We went through the main road whith some shops, and could see the palacio municipal, nice place, I'm sure I could enjoyed it if I stayed longer in this Island. We tried to find a nice beach with our small legs, nothing on the other side, so we went back, ... read more

Why is it called like this, I have no idea! We took the bus after our brunch at the hotel next door, it's agreable as we have a sea view in the morning , only us and the carribean sea ^^. We arrived after a few minutes and and had to ask for the path. Well, it's not as welcoming as in the hotel zone, but I could see the other side of Cancun, no sea, people working, on one hand a big wal mart and on the other one, market 28. Ah I hated it, we had to bargain like hell, but it's the game when you're a tourist...my sis bought a hammock for 15dollars and she left it at the reception the day we had to depart!!! Souvenirs...... read more

The jet lag still worked, especially that day, we woke up late and decided to go and watch the final in zone hoteles...France lost and I was so surpised that it ended like this with Zidane and his coup de boule! There were people from almost everywhere in the pub open to the streets, and an Italian family, they were so funny and soooo involved in the game. After that we went to punta Cancun, north east of the Island (some says that it's an island linked to the mainland by 2 bridges, butI couldn't really feel that I was on as Island). So that day was playa again with a shy sun on us. We went to one of the most beautiful hotels in Cancun, it belongs to a group called Riu, and I should ... read more

Nothing exciting for the first days, Still looking for my swimwear and got it after walking a loooong time in la Isla Shopping center. Once again, it looks more like in the US rather than in Mexico...Everything looks so new, and so touristic (why a parrot in a qhopping center???) and the good thing is everything is so clean, people keep on cleaning the floor, the doors, the windows, all the clothes are well disposed. For exemple, the Zara shop, it's always messed-up in France, I don't event feel like entering inside, while in Cancun, wow, it was such a nice shop! In the afternoon, we decided to try a playa around, and just in front, even though it was cloudy, we could go to a very nice beach (I suppose It was a private one ... read more

July 7th 2006

We arrived at the hotel, much smaller than all the others, but comfortable enough for resting. I was surprised by the fact that all the hotels are so huge!!! They hide all the beaches, that is such a waste for the landscape. Cancun only existed for more than 30 years, it used to be a place for fishermen. And there are like 26 000 rooms to receive guests. Without the tourists, man, the place would be like a ghost town! We got our room, and then we decided to go to downtown ou something like that. We took the bus randomly for 6.5 pesos, and with my short memory I tried to stop next to the diverting place (zone hoteles), we actually arrived in America! Everything is big, and all the shops are almost all american ... read more

After 9 hours and a half, we landed in Cancun, which means "snake nest" (according to what I've heard!), yeah, It was so hot after being in a air-conditioned plane. I was a little bit disoriented, but could recognized the Mexicans and the first impression I had was "Oh that's is so great I'm in Latin America, near the Caribean, at the same time somewhere on earth we've heard about quite a lot these last years about their night life and the spring break thingy". My sis' had the song "la cucaracha" in her head, she could'nt help herself singing it! Also, I didn't know la propina was a mexican habit. The poor guy who took our luggage was waiting for tips from us, but we didn't even have time to change the currency!!!... read more
