Hey peeps hope everyone is doing well. Just some updates in the life of Fergus. So I joined the Island Princess about a months and a half ago and things having been going pretty good. I'm doing seven day cruising out of Alaska right now. What does that mean. It means a lot of work for me. We do stop in some beautiful places though. Alaska is really amazing once you get past all of the shitty tourist parts of it. Like everywhere you go on a cruise ship there is a big industry built around it. So when you get off the ship there is a million and one crappie shops people go too. I can't image why people come on vacation and then go shopping. Hey all just some updates on my life. So the big news is I got promoted and transshipped. I’m still in Australia just on another ship, and now I’m the Senior. I had a big party before I left, got drunk and just enjoyed myself. I actually worked out to be really good timing. After 5 months on one ship your really sick of everything and everyone. So a change can be really refreshing. That being said you don’t know what you got till its gone. As the food on my new ship is terrible and the itinerary sucks, and I’m doing a ton more work. Feb 14 2009 So apparently I’m not very good at blogging, its been about 2 months since I last wrote something so here goes nothing. Well I’m now officially 25, thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. I got really drunk and had a blast, I even got pulled up on stage for a special dance, from the dance team here, there is a video floating around I’m sure at some point I’ll put it up on youtube. So after a night of drink and celebrating I paid for it on Christmas day. I had to get up and video tape kids making cookies at 11am having gone to bed a 5am. Dec - 12 So my mom said all I write about in my travel blog is working out and eating food. Well that’s pretty much all you can do around here I do live on a floating city. But I’ll try to fill you in on some other stuff that’s been going on. First off the best thing I’ve seen so far has to be the Sydney harbor sail away. The port is just beautiful, and during the sail away you go right by the Sydney opera house and under the Sydney harbor bridge. Its really amazing. The second cool thing I’ve probably seen is a place called Port Dravunie, look it up on google maps. Its basically an island that has 300 inhabitants. Nov 25 - Old friends and New Beers So last week I met up with my buddy Ben in Melbourne. Ben and I lived and work together on the Star Princess (my previous ship). He met me at the port we walked to a bar and precede to get drunk and reminisce. Its funny to look back on life and see how different things are or how I was. And its even more amazing to have your life come full circle. I'm mean though sheer randomness we ended up living together on out last ship and a year later on the other side of the world in his home town getting drunk. Its a small world..... literally. Oct 28 - Back to Ships Alright journal entry 1, I’ve been on the sips for seven days…. And I’m feeling pretty positive right now. I feel that I’ve learned a lot from my last contract, although I still can’t control the volume of my voice. A couple things right off the bat, got to see my buddy Jay for a couple hours before he disembark, good, I’ve been working out lots and eating crazy amounts of chick, good, also I haven’t been medicating myself with alcohol, also good, but no one on the team wants to hang out, kind of bad. Nov 3 Transvestites and Black Sand beaches So last night we had an overnight in some shitty cook island. Now maybe shitty isn’t a fair description as the island itself has some beautiful beaches and landscapes. What it shitty about it is the nightlife. It was brutal, I was mean mugging everyone hoping they wouldn’t just plain old mug me. Oh also everyone speaks French here which is kind of cool, although I wish I paid more attention in French class. It would have been the only useful thing l learned in high school. Then we move onto the bar scene. Basically all the bars here are gay/transvestite bars. I know it sounds crazy but there is a huge gay culture on these islands.
