A Kiwi gal taking off from home to explore the big wide world. I plan on seeing and experiencing as much as I can in as many places as I can get to. I'll work and play, getting to know places and people and catching up with old friends.

Hey... yeah, sorry :p its been a while again :) anyway, back in June I was in NYC for two days, staying with my aunt's stepdaughter and her family :) It was a brilliant if rushed visit, which, obviously, needs to be repeated cause I missed way too much! lol. so this is mostly just photos with captions where I can be bothered :p As a minor update, this is written from Savannah, Georgia, where I am staying just two nights (last night and tonight) before heading to North Carolina to see a family from Church who live there. Hope everyone is well, from Emma... read more

Day 8 - last day in LA - Santa Monica Peir in wonderful sun. Flying overnight to Denver Day 9 - started at midnight waiting for my flight which was meant to leave at 11.59pm and didnt leave til 12.45ish. brilliant :p But that was to Boston, where my aunt met me at the airport - thanks Bev!- and we spent the day there, mainly at the Harvard Natural History Museum. Drove to Vermont late that night, but I slept the whole way. We followed a guardian angel almost all the way at the right speed! brilliant. Day 10 - started at 12.15am waking up to get into my 'cousins' Vermont house - its beautiful. Slept through the morning, then went for a drive around the area. Vermont houses are beautiful, quite British in architecture, very ... read more

Day Six - Universal Studios! Soooo great - a very awesome day :) Favourites were the Studio Tour - 45mins in a tram car around the Universal Lots :) we saw the building that CSI are shot in (Sound Stages), drove up Wisteria Lane, saw an example of pyrotechnics from Fast and Furious, went past the 747 they destroyed for War of the Worlds, saw some of Who-Ville from The Grinch, experienced a flash flood in Mexico and an earthquake in a subway station and saw numerous outdoor facades for shooting, including the NY set that they are currently rebuilding after the fire last year. The rides were great too :) the 3-D ones (Shrek and Terminator) are out of this world - Tinkerbelle flew straight at us, and the terminator evil spider thing tried to ... read more

Hey! So today was a good day - again with the nasty Jet Lag meaning I woke up at nine, turned off the alarm, woke up again at 10.15 :p but that’s ok :) We had a relaxing morning then headed off to UCLA where Katya showed me around - that is one massive campus. As in, totally crazy huge, 20-min walks between classes crazy huge. Insane. But its really pretty and highly manicured and has wonderfully beautiful buildings, so its quite a nice place to walk while most people are away - its "finals week" so it was really quite, not many people there. After UCLA we went to the Getty Centre, which was amazing. It’s a huge art museum in the Santa Monica Mountains, entry is free but parking is $10, and you take ... read more

Hey! So today was my first be-a-tourist day - we went to Hollywood Blvd. We started off at the Wax Museum and then walked around looking at the golden stars in the pavement and the handprints at the Chinese Theatre. We also window-shopped at 'Hollywood and Highland' Mall - expensive shops but some weren't too bad. Visited Build-a-Bear - that is a messed up shop that I could spend an awful lot of money in :p looks very fun :p On the way home we stopped at Trader Joe's, which is a cheap gourmet supermarket. It was really interesting to see the different cereals, breads and snack foods - and especially the ready-to-eat foods and frozen goods :) very tasty shop :) It was a very cool day all in all :) Our plan is to ... read more

Yay!! I'm in America!!! I was awake for a 32 hour Sunday 7 June, which was very amusing by the end of it :p Katya collected me from the airport (only about an hour in queues for Customs but no problems :) ) driving through LA to get to her house in West Hollywood - you can see the Hollywood sign from her back yard. whats more, yesterday was a very clear day - the view from The Griffith Park Observatory was magic! we then went out to dinner to a Italian-American restaurant where I had Chicken and Spinach Cannelloni with a TON of cheese - so much cheese... It was a great first day! Today (8th) I slept in to catch up so didnt wake til 1.30pm (which is actually 8.30 am in my head, ... read more
