Good work..... Myself and my wife are also winding up our time abroad. We got married and then left the states for 4 months (seems short by your standards) and did a round the world trip. I enjoyed reading your blog on Rio, I went previously and did not do the favela tour, wish I did though...... maybe next time.
Happy travels!

sorry we've been such lazy sods about replying-we're in beijing!sounds like you had a fantastic time in south america-wish we were there-so you went to Parati in the end-great! did you go to trinidade? that was the place we spent most of our time and was our lil slice of paradise, about 30 mins by local bus away from Parati. By the looks of things you spent loads of time in brazil-beijing is a bit sucky, but we'll be in hong kong by the end of the week then fly to bangkok and home in 6 weeks! enjoy your last day in rio!
Welcome home guys !! I can't promise a pint of gravy but i will promise one buddy to drink cold beers with and discuss ( i mean argue) about football. We have been teaching Ronnie to say Auntie Carla and Uncle Matt ready for your return and i think he is getting confused why we keep getting him to say it so I hope he doesn’t get stage fright when we see you. . Can't wait for you two to get to know him like we do. Great words of wisdom from your last blog and a whole new world is about to revel itself to you back in good old England. As you know i hate reading, but i must admit i have enjoyed reading your blogs. 1st class writing and absolutely stunning pictures. Matt you have always been known as the ‘cultured one’ but know Carla has signed up for the course and passed with flying colours. A big man hug is waiting for you Pazza and a big sloppy kiss for you Carla. See you in a day !!!! xxxxxxxx
Uncle Kens Dream Forty two years ago,Carlas' Uncle Ken joined the merchant navy, his first trip was as a young seventeen year old who had never left England. The trip lasted eighteen months it was on an iron oar carrier, I remember its name to this day the M.V Inverfield. Most of the voyage was in South America. From the letters he sent home I new he had fallen in love with Brazil in particular. He had also fallen in love with (as Gran would say"a dusky maiden")with the name of Lourdes. If he were still here how thrilled he would have been to read your accounts of a place that made such an impact on a young seaman. He sent me a postcard of the Maracana Stadium together with a Pele pennant which were paraded around my school as two of the wonders of the world.I am going to miss these blogs!! Love Ya Trev XX

Remember folks 'Regret what you do, not what you don't' and with that thought we welcome you to our round the world travel blog.
As our journey is now over we hope that some of our stories and adventures may help or inspire anybody else who is lucky enough to be currently in any of the locations we visited or planning to travel in the near future.
Do we regret our trip ? .......... absolutely not it was the best year of both our lives and even though we are now back home and things have already started to fall back into exactly the same places they were before we left...... we will alway... full info
