while we wine away the hours - From: what happened next ?
It was well worth waiting for, and as soon as "travel blog" appeared in the "inbox" we both dashed to the computer, with that feeling of "whats happening now" and quick open the blog so we can read it together!!! It was just like the "old days" and after reading it realise that your "old days" have fortunatly become "your reality" and more importantly you are as happy and contented as you were in Rio, Cambodia Laos etc and that can only mean one thing, HAPPINESS and boy are we pleased to have been able to share some of this with you, continue on lifes journey just the same, and life will be rich for you both. Remember wants and needs... you have them both (and by the way the locals want to know when the film crew are a comin) the words and pics have gone to their heads, and the Vendee is awaiting your return.... love always win et mozza xxxx

Uncle Kens Dream - From: One final slice of island life
Forty two years ago,Carlas' Uncle Ken joined the merchant navy, his first trip was as a young seventeen year old who had never left England. The trip lasted eighteen months it was on an iron oar carrier, I remember its name to this day the M.V Inverfield. Most of the voyage was in South America. From the letters he sent home I new he had fallen in love with Brazil in particular. He had also fallen in love with (as Gran would say"a dusky maiden")with the name of Lourdes. If he were still here how thrilled he would have been to read your accounts of a place that made such an impact on a young seaman. He sent me a postcard of the Maracana Stadium together with a Pele pennant which were paraded around my school as two of the wonders of the world.I am going to miss these blogs!! Blog and photos = points 10 out of 10 - From: Being Bill Oddie
We could not believe our eyes. Carla with a piranha (where are the dogs when you need them) and Matt sleeping with a giant hamster!!!! it takes all sorts, The photos are breathtaking and for us just "out of this world" and Carla your blogs have changed so much, your writing now reduces me to tears, as Matts often does. Wow you have seen a woodpecker that makes us level pegging (the one we saw was a green woodpecker) and what a photo opportunity with the owl that was amazing!!! continue on safely enjoy Rio and relax and try and reflect on the last 12 months, difficult to do in in two weeks,as we are sure your reflections will last a lifetime!! (you do realise when you get back we will expect a blog often) they have made our day,and we have looked forward to them so do not know how we will cope without them, mozza suggests we start from the beginning and open a new one every 10 days (not such a bad idea)!! Hope you got my Rio link, enjoy relax and travel safely wants and needs... now seems almost redundant, love always xxxxx

Glad you both enjoyed the falls and Bill Oddie is sat next to me crying and moaning about how he has never seen a toucan. He has only ever seen a black bird and all the other stuff was fake and made by Terry Nutkins in a sort of sell your soul to the 'Nutkins' deal. Ps that goes for lispy Crisp Packham as well.

Just sent your blog and turned the tele to see Ian wright travelling to Bolivia at lake titicaca Le Paz and the salt lakes in Uyuni He is in the palazio de sel and everything is made of salt the beds are made of salt the chairs and the dome of the ceiling how weird is that, apparently it tastes fowl you apparently have a dry sauna and then a lithium bath!!! around the edges of the lake are huge cactus and llamas the cacti are fab. the sunsets and sunrises are fabulous(acording to the tele)feel as if we are there with you it is bizarre we are all sat around the tele imagining what it must be right for real!!!!The salt is blinding apparently so sunglasses to the fore, Are you going to Uncia? the home of San maguel it looks great as they have a fiesta to the saints. Ian wright has just done *the bike ride* which looks very very scarry (think you made light of it) welcome to the road of death! was the first sentence Ian Wright said!!!! although the scenery looks fab we are so glad we saw the film after you did it!!!!!Do take care our intrepid travellers and to anyone reading if you can check into Globetrekker on the travel channel it will be well worth it!!

Hola amigos, que tal. After my studies of South America I thought Bolivia would have been a country to avoid, how wrong could that conclusion be!this has been one of your best blogs yet.I supose it must be the fact that It is probably one of the most little known countries.I love the rural "feel"of the place and sounds like you could completely destress there.By the way are you two going to learn the tango when you get to Argentina? Ah yes, Taquile island - From: No electricity, no worries, no idea who david beckham is
It was such fun to relive my visit to Puno( including the bus ride ) through your journal. I did not stay with a family ( sounds like a good choice on my part) but did get to walk up to the top of Taquile and down the horrible 500 stone steps. Damn near killed my knees. More ruins await in Bolivia. Make sure you visit Tinawaku( not sure of spelling). The ride out there is interesting- note all the German churches in the middle of nowhere. Travel on. Carolyn ( gunga)

cornucopia - From: No electricity, no worries, no idea who david beckham is
Hope that you understand the title, seems appropriate!!! it is French. Don't think Zo would like it though. The hats were quite fetching and they must be the thing to wear when dancing with the locals. Of course being so cold they would be a must at night in those temps. Wondered, but dare not ask, were the tag alongs who neede nobody, maybe French or even worse maybe German. We had some more drinks with Zo & Jossette as Michael, Lin and Stefen plus tous le monde did not know about the ring and the knee job but Jossette could not wait to tell them when we were there so again more drinks to toast your happiness, health and good wishes for your return. This will of course mean more drinks for us and lots of drinks for you both when you come over here as the whole village wishes you well and would like to do the good wishes again with you here. This is of course probably a local tradition although it is more likely a reason for the men to have a few more drinks and I of course would not knock that idea. All oyur love to you both our Intrepid Travellers and take care as you are both precious cargo. Luv Mozza & Weenerxxxxx

We have to leave it until today to reply as I had to put a water proof cover over the keyboard because it was like a rain storm in here and I bet you can't guess who. Boy what a time, running backwards and forwards to keep getting tissues. At the last count there were at least 3 Mrs. Parrys so another one will be perfect and you could not have made a better choice Matt. The comments so far have been fab and you both deserve them as your blogs tell a great story and adventure. To get a YES and see Macchu Picchu was the best result you could have wished for Matt so the Liverpool result pales into insignificance. So again our many congratulations and also from all your friends over here. Keep safe as the cargo has now become even more precious. All our love to you both and keep the fab stories comming. Keep safe our Intrepid Travellers and again all are love. Winn & Mozza xxxxx

sunrise sunsets and the spanish conquistadors!! - From: From Dusk 'til Dawn
Well the blog was fab but the sunrise sunsets blog terrific!! the sites are remarkable!!! Carla so glad you got to do your gliding which is what you talked about in NZ how brave are you? the shots are terrific. I have been reading up on Peru, we know of Inca empires, and the lost city of Machu Picchu and its snow capped peaks which soar in places to 20,000feet and its canyons are the deepest in the world. there are 3 distinct areas in Peru. the desert, bordering on the pacific ocean , the Andes and also the rainforests, only reading about it sounds out of this world, and we think you have so much to see that will fulfill your dreams in what sounds to be a wonderful part of the world. Take care and enjoy cannot wait for the blog from this marvellous part of the world you are now seeing!! so for now goodnight, bonne nuit, et beunos noches (spelling terrible) but think you know what we are saying, love you loads. mozza and winn xxxxxxxxx

rose tinted spectacles - From: Gringo star
It is amazing what the Americans can assume refers to them without looking at the bigger picture. If I remember correctly and hope that James will correct if I am wrong. Allende was the first democratically elected Communist which must have really upset the US and that is why I think it started and then finished with Maggy Thatchers friend Pinochet coming to power. Anyway enough of that and so pleased that you are both well, despite the rudeness of some of the staff on the plane, you have arrived again totally open minded and prepared to learn about your new suroundings. Cannot wait for your blog from Peru and hope you are having as much fun as we all did in Geronimo. Miss you loads and take care of each other, you are both very precious cargo. Hi James, thanks its always difficult to get the true facts from guidebooks and as our spanish is still shamefully below par its difficult to engage locals in conversation about their own countries even though this is always the best way to get a true picture of a place. your amazing adventure - From: Gringo star
you guys are living the dream. i imagine spending so much time "on the road" must take its toll, but it's an incredible (and enviable) adventure. i just wanted to say a couple of things about your chile entry. barrio bellavista has no colonial buildings. there are probably only about a dozen colonial buildings in santiago, since earthquakes have taken their toll over the centuries, and what nature has not destroyed, poor human decisions have done in and replaced with less than spectacular buildings (most, but not all). also, salvador allende was not murdered. he committed suiced, with a rifle given to him by fidel castro no less. i consider myself a leftist, so this isn't coming from some pinochet apologist (which includes about 1/3 of chileans) but his suicide is a fact. one can say that chilean democracy was murdered that day, but allende preferred to die at his own hands in the moneda than surrender democracy to the military junta. cheers!

Well you have now travelled half way around the world. How great for you to have met up with some of your family after such a long time. It seems funny now that you have finished in Australasia and are moving on to your next adventure that your time in Asia must seem a lifetime away. All the people you have met and stories you have exchanged will be added to with your next stop and we know you will have as great a time in South Americe has you have had up to now but it will be so different. You may of course get to do more "extreme sports" and have been told the scenery in Chile is as good or if not better than South NZ. So United did not make the final but I will not lose any sleep there but great news about Liverpool and of course Sunderland but I wont mention City, blast said I would not mention them. We will go now as I have been summoned by Zo, JC, JP and Bebert to drink your health again, great this drinking your health, could do that every day, although now I come to think about it, I do drink your health every day!! The blog was great although sense the North Island did not ring your bells, however... Onwards and Upwards or is it to the right a bit and voila !!! another continent, how exciting will that be, Mozza has registered a new extreme sport with the NZ sports authority, and it is Extreme sub-barrier gliding ( not sure it will take on) wet shoes and wood barriers required. Chile will bring lots of different and new adventures, hope your spanish is coming on, ola, como esta usted? por pavour, and cuba libra (the spellings are not right, but the spanish is) from what I remember from long ago!!! so hope this helps and continue on with your great adventure, we are still missing you like mad and cannot believe it was only 14 /15 days since we were last together, what a crazy world, but a great one for you to see!!! My old Granada alas has now given up the ghost after 16 years of loyal service the gearbox has finally coughed its last cough.Although still driveable its last journey will be to the old knackers yard in the sky.Think about it,Carla was 12 years old and Chelsea were a crap football team when we welcomed it into the, family, so many holiday trips, camp sites and airport journeys have now been resigned to the history books. Your photos look so incredible! Cant wait to go travelling round Oz (for 1st time!) and NZ (for 3rd time!) next year! You'll love Christchurch, it's a beautiful city and the people are all really nice. The towns around Christchurch are really cool as well, Sumner is a really nice beachfront town about 20 mins outside Christchurch with some great cafes and restaurants by beach. Akaroa is by far my favourite town. We went swimming with dolphins in the wild there which was amazing. Kaikoura is really cool for whale watching. If you head down to Queenstown you'll have an amazing time there too - the white water rafting is a must! Even though I'm a big wimp and had never done anything like it before - I loved it! Scared the hell out of me, but so worth doing! Have lots of fun!

IS PLONK FRENCH FOR GOON????? - From: Surfers, Stoners and Goon
We will never be able to look and taste Vimto as it was meant ever again. Sounds like you had a real CORDIAL day. Martha inside looked a great place to be for five weeks and we even saw and were impressed by the book shelf. Byron Bay looked great and glad it lived up to expectations. We are sure you will enjoy Sydney as it is considered the most cosmopolitan city in the east with lots going on to suit all taste. Look forward to your next blog for your experiences, it all seems so real to us. Talking of wine, we are about to start prunning our very substantial vineyard which should take all of 1 day hopefully the red will be ready to taste late October and will taste of lots of fruits and cordials. Take care our "intrepid travellers" and remember "wants and needs". all our love Winn & Mozzaxxx Take care our

Carla, have moomin will balance. - From: Sand Blows and Rainbows
The sights from the pics even give the feeling of the sounds. Not sure that those of us from the north would be able to compare the "Steve Irwin" zoo with that of what was once "Belle Vue".Need to be in the oldies brigade to understand that one though. As Greg & John say in Master Chef Goes Large "things just get better".That Koala looks familier but don't think I should put a name. You just amaze us with every blog, they are fab and still more sights to take in, what a fab coast and plenty of sunshine which shows on you both. Keep blogging as we flove to hear all about it. What fab photos, not only of the skies but of the wild life. Have to say we have not seen roos in that pose before, not just David A to be careful but also Bill O. Not sure Grootle would enjoy the pic of the spider. Some great comments from people who appreciate the pics and stories and have seen some of the country as well. We can only add to the other comments as to the quality of all your stories and pics and we also feel we are there with you. Hope Martha dried out, bet you wont leave the windows open again. Question, how long would it take to boil the egg of a Casowarie? How big would the egg cup be? How many pieces of toast and how many people would it feed? Right that is the end of the questions. Any answers would be appreciated. It is so good to see you still having a great time with new experiences around every corner. Hey guys It was fab to speak to you both on xmas day, if not a bit emotional (and that wasn't just because I had to get up earlier than 12 and ruin my new found student status after an extended holiday off work) wonder if you went to Kate & pete's did they or didn't they get wed wedding?? Xmas was cool, it's funny really with you guys being away and reading all of each others comments etc, it has given the rest of both your families a chance to get to know each other better (possibly in the same way I will soon know the celeb bb housemates better) after reading all the blog comments from, winn, morris et chris 9bonjourno el francais massive!!) it was like seeing old friends at xmas - I think Brett & Mozza's rendition of reet pateet (sic??) also helped as did chris's exclamation of fat baby to dad's pictionary pic which had me giggling - it all means I am mucho looking forward to your coming home party which I am sure we will have (if carla's previous celebration extravaganzza's are anything to go to by) I wish blogger had spell check I am useless !! An impossible question?????? - From: Sun, Sea and Snorks
Hi Mel One thing that we have learnt since leaving the UK is that opinions vary massively, we even met a Aussie yesterday who doesnt like Thailand ??? If pushed we would say Halong bay and Hoi An are Vietnams best locations, we met a family from NZ who were doing both these locations in a week. If you want some beaches to relax but not see too much culture then spend some time in South Thailand, If you want to see 3 very different countries in close proximity then see some of Vietnam. Its a difficult one, not a bad choice to be have to be making Though!! Enjoy your trip

Love your blog - From: Sun, Sea and Snorks
Hi guys, I’m a Aussie loving your blog. We are heading that way for 1 month for our honeymoon in March. I wouldn’t usually ask a question but we are struggling with deciding how to split the time between Thailand, Laos and Vietnam and after reading your blog, I’m tempted to spend less or no time in Vietnam and have some time in the Thai Islands instead? Do you agree? Thanks Mel

Pleased you have taking to snorkeling its the best way to see what beautiful fish are swimming under you, your dad and I do it all the time and its so easy to swim that way you must get flippers then you just glide along + you can get along to the beaches quicker, the veiw from your place looked fantastic what a site to see first thing in the morning at least all those steps will keep you fit .

Hi Jackie, Glad you like the blog! We are currently in Ko Phi Phi which is fantastic, beautiful blue seas and really good snorkelling without even going on a boat trip. If you can do one of the tours that go round the Phi Phi islands from Krabi you should, have a good time.

Carla, are those the self-same Crocs that I had the p*** so badly taken for at the Golf Day this summer? On the basis that nobody wants to read any more flappy skin feet stories, I set you this proposal. Buy yourselves 2 pairs (that's one each, not a wash and a wear - I'm not made of money!) and post pictures on this BLOG and I will be happy to pay the bill as an early Xmas present. The challenge is set. The gaudier the better........

Nice to see you are both finally chilling - the new pace must be a shock - Carla why did you not sing at the hippy bar, Cher's shoop shoop song would have been a hit, fact. Me thinks maybe you should both get some of those clog style jelly moulds, your poor tooties (or what's left of them, cut webbing eeewww) need a bit of tlc. Thanks for the pic of you both monkeying around - I now have one to print and put on my desk (so you will join the small collage (sic?) Mankind Never Learns - From: Life after Death
Nothing prepares you for the attrocities that man can do to man than actually being in the place it happened. We had just got over being bombarded with news footage of the Vietnam War,when we learned of the tragedy of "Year Zero"and this all happened during the troubles in Northern Ireland, not to mention our families accounts of WW2. So it all seemed to wash over us like a bad dream. It was not until later that the full horrors of Year Zero was fully understood.I knew you would use this trip to increase your knowledge and understanding of other cultures. To take time out to study these events is very admirable.I only wish that one day we would learn from the past ,and live in peace.Something tells me thats as far away as ever though! Love to you both, and continue to enjoy your journey.Trev

Hi there, after reading your blog we decided we need to make a visit to Pai. Like you we had done the cushy chair number in Koh Chang and were looking for a something a little closer to nature. Today we spent 2 hours with beautiful Camsen and her mahout. She was a little naughty to say the least but it was such a relief that the mahout never used his hook on her (unlike Koh Chang where he had cut the elephants ear). We had such a great day. Thanks for the tip! Enjoy Vietnam....South is best, try and make it to Phu Quoc if you have the time. Cheers, Edam.

Well I have seen a lot and been around a little too, but lets be honest, some people have "more front than Blackpool" To post a comment like that shows lack of goodwill and lack of care for other people other than themselves.
