Hey all, I made it back home in one piece. Start work again tomorrow... ugh. Had an absolutely amazing trip and would highly recommend Peru for any of you who are adventure-minded and are looking for a great travel experience. My last day in Lima I visited the Gold Museum as well as the Archeology and History Museum with Christian. Both museums were impressive and did a great job in solidifying all my learning on the pre-Incan, Incan, and post-Incan civilizations. A great way to end the trip. Flight from Lima to Toronto was good. I am very glad that I had a nice set of headphones with me though. The guy on my left was snoring before we taxied from the gate and the baby off to my left screached for the eight hours of ... read more

Hey All, I made it back to Lima from the Amazon yesterday afternoon. Our group had its fairwell dinner last night and we said goodbye to our great group leader Bruno and some of the travellers who were flying out late lst night. Ive still got today and tomorrow left in Lima before flying home late Wednesday night. The Jungle was sspectacular. We were picked up by *Jungle Specialists* from the Puerto Maldonado airport and transferred by bus to the Jungle Office. We all packed two nights worth of clothing and supplies into a duffel bag for porters to transport to the lodge. The bus then transferred us to the marina on the Madre de Dios river where we boarded a 30foot long motorized canoe riverboat. While cruising we were iven a delicious lunch of stir-fried ... read more

Hey! Just got back to Cuzco from Machu Picchu last night. Did a 4 day, 3 night, 42km trek through the Andean Mountains along the ancient Inca Trail and arrived in Macchu Picchu at around 8am yesterday. The trek was amazing. The scenery breathtaking. In all there were 8 of us doing the trek, supported by a guide, a cook, an assistant cook, and 11 porters. A team of 14 people for 8 travellers. We were very well taken care of... the food was delicious and plentiful, our guide was knowledgable and patient, and our porters were all fast and efficient. Soon after leaving the camp every morning our porters would fly past us on the trail with our bags, our tents, all the food and cooking equipment, etc and would have our dining tent set ... read more

Hey, This post might make a little more sense now that I´ve gotten sleep, water, Tylenol, coffee, and a big greasy breakfast into me. I was definitely feeling a little rough when I got up at noon, much better now. So, as you all gathered from last nights entry, a bunch of us went on a pub crawl with our tour leader and his local friend. We all had a blast, danced the night away, and drank way too much. Brunos friend owns a bar, so we were getting lots of free drinks and deals. Was a good time. Since my previous comprehensible post we´ve done a ton. We took a trip to a place called Condor Cross in the Colca Canyon and watched condors glide up through the canyon and we stopped and enjoyed a ... read more

Hey all. Having a blast! I am in a small town called Chivay in the Colca Valley in the south west part of Peru. We´ve done and seen so many things in the last few days and have been without any internet access for a few days. My last post was from Nazca, but just prior to that we had been in a place called Huacachina. Huacachina is a village built in an oasis in the Peruvian desert. From there we took dune buggies into the high sand dunes and ripped through the sand, amazing! We stopped a top a half dozen sand dunes and used sandboards to slide down on our bellies. They were incredibly high, and the views were amazing. In Nazca we visited a necropolis, an ancient burial ground that has been excavated ... read more

Hey. Gotta head out on a boat to the Baillesta Islands, so this is gonna be quick. Met the rest of the group yesterday, all great people. 7 Canadians out of 10. We got on our bus a little late yesterday and got into Paracas at around 8pm. Our hotel is here nice, with a great ocean view. Went to dinner as a group last night, and we all had a good time. Food here is amazing. Bruno, our group leader is a very energetic guy who seems to be bending over backwards to make sure everything runs smoothly. So far so good. Heading out shortly to catch a boat to check out some wildlife... sea lions, penguins, and a bunch of sea birds. Should be interesting. Later today we´re travelling to Ica for lunch and ... read more

Hey. Leaving Lima today. Met part of my group last night, and so far so good. Our tour leader is a very energetic Peruvian and ramped up everyone's excitement. I can't wait to get going! Went down to the beach this morning with a German guy named Christian who is going to be in my group. Was very rocky where we ended up, but I was able to dip my feet in the Pacific... it was freezing. Walked a good distance through Miraflores and stopped here at the internet cafe. Need to go back to the room to finish packing and check out. I've got 45 minutes left. We leave the hotel at 230pm to go to a public bus station to catch the bus to Pisco. I'll be able to meet the missing group members ... read more

Hey, hope everyone is doing well. Weather here is again very nice. Met with a friend's sister in law this morning. She wished me a good trip, told me to be careful, and invited me to dinner when I get back to Lima Dec 15th. She also insited I call her if I need any assistance at all, which is reassuring. Soon after that I got onto a tour-van for a wild ride through the streets of Lima. We stopped at a few sites on the way into downtown and then spent about an hour touring the central area of Lima. The guide was great and rambled off lots of information in 3 1/2 hrs, most of which I don't remember. I have a meeting with my tour group this evening at 1930... found that out ... read more
