So far we have had two concerts in Lithuania. They were both sponsored by the same church. One was in thier city and the other was at a school in a neighboring town. At the first concert one of the dancers hurt her foot right before the concert. We all prayed for her and she was able to dance for half of the concert but the next day found out she tore a tendon in her foot and can't dance for 3 weeks. So be praying for her. There were also even more obnoxious mockers but that is just a sign to us that there are definately unbelievers in the audience which is what we have been praying for. And God is so good because 80 people sought salvation. Then the next day at the school ... read more

We had our first experience with mockers. A group of boys were, sitting in the front row at our last concert whistling at the girls dancing and then making comments and laughing during the preaching. A couple of concerts back we had to deal with children running all over the place. Despite the distraction many youths came up for the alter call. I’ve spoken to 4 different girls who were really inspired by our work and want to work for God in the same manner. They are looking into Jesus Revolution. I really enjoyed being able to just encourage them and pray for them. A girl who was blind in one eye had three people from our team pray for her and when we left, she could see light where before she was not able to ... read more

For the past three nights we have been able to stay in one place. Kaspars B's mom has opened up her house to us as a kind of base until we leave Latvia for Lithuanian next Thursday. It is pretty close for us to drive from here to each of our concert locations. Since I last wrote we have had concerts in Malpils (the city we are sleeping in), Lielvarde, and Riga. Today we are traveling to Rezekne for our last concert of the week and then we will have three days off before going to Lithuania. Last night we were in Riga and Kaspars K had many friends and family there. He was really excited about being able to preach to his family and it really affected them in a positive way. Around 80 people ... read more

As I updated the previous entries I am sitting in the same café I went to last night with Talitha. Our school visit was cancelled because their schedules are too packed due to school closings the past few days (because it was too cold for them!) so we have off until 1 pm. Since we are free I started the day off with a long PT and some good cheap coffee. I feels so privileged to be here living, truly living a wonderful great adventure. It may not always be easy but I can boldly keep going, knowing God is directing my path which will ultimately be to His glory. I never thought I would be sitting in a coffee house in Cesis, Latvia. How cool! And is it just because I said, “Here I am ... read more

After a quick breakfast of porridge and homemade strawberry jam, we all pilled into the vans to return to Latvia. We got to the location of our next concert without any mishaps. It was just a travel day so once we go there we had the day off until a youth meeting at night. Talitha and I went to a café where we each had a cup of hot chocolate and a slice of cake for approximately $4. Then we looked around the cute snow covered town. At the youth meeting (their youth leader is a formed JR Soldier) a few of us took turns speaking to encourage the youth. I spoke about the car incident, Elisa spoke about waiting on God to renew your strength, and Kaspars B gave his testimony (how God delivered him ... read more

We work up early and drove to Estonia for our second concert. We had no car problems and arrived in time for lunch with the pastor. Then we went to the culture house to set up for that evenings concert. Before we did anything we decided to have our team prayer. We wanted to really place everything in God’s hands because we had all felt like something was lacking the night before. After we set up we had about 1.5 hours break so Talitha and I went to find a café. After asking people on the street we found a little Armenian café. Talitha’s mom is Armenian so she was really excited to find that place. She said it felt like home to be able to speak Armenian to the owner and his wife. We even ... read more

We spent the night 10 miles from the Russian border so many people speak both Latvian and Russian. We had our first concert in a village of about 2000 people in their community center. I don’t know why but it wasn’t at all like what I expected. It felt like something was missing. Even though there were only 30 people in the audient I don’t think that was the reason. I think for me personally it was my worst performance ever. Thankfully this is not about me but God. I definitely want to do better from now on but I am not devastated by my failure to perform as I normally would’ve been (God is changing me). I guess it is because I know this dancing is for Him to use as a tool and not ... read more

We woke up in Estonia and hoped in the car for a day’s drive to Latvia. The sun was shining on the drive so everyone was looking forward to a relaxing uneventful drive to Latvia. The first part of the drive I worked on the accounting (we each have practical jobs to take care of for our tour and mine is the “Economy Responsible”) and had my PT. On the second half of the drive I took over driving the passenger van and I was able to have some really good conversations with Talitha. Beat has always gotten car sick while reading in a vehicle so those in the back prayed for him and now he is okay! Praise God! We ate dinner at a little diner in Latvia. For 200 Kr or about $30 the ... read more

We left the base promptly at 9:30 am, after a team prayer and cleaning up the rooms. We drove off in our two minivans, waving goodbye to the base leaders as the snow sprinkled down. We quickly made it to Sweden, and even though it is no longer snowing, there is still much snow collected on the ground. As we left, the car was filled with a spirit of excitement and joy. We tried to get a stamp for our passports at the Sweden border but the border patrol refused. It only took 3.5 hours into our tour before we had our first incident. I was deep into a book by Kathryn Kuhlman when our van started to pull over to the side of the road. Apparently the van following us, carrying Elisa (who was driving) ... read more
