Here is an update on each person from Team East 2006. Dina & Kaspars K: Dina has returned to Norway to study History for a year. Kaspars K is in Norway with Dina and he is working. They will marry next summer. After a year, they are planning to return to Eastern Europe and continue the quest of spreading the gospel there. Dora: Dora has returned to her home in Budapest, Hungary to start studying. She plans on helping her father’s church and continuing to share the love of Jesus with everyone who crosses her path. Her sister, Sophie will continue [View Full Entry]

8/19/06 - The Beach and Flies Yesterday it was gorgeous and hoping it would be the same today, I decided to try to make my way to the beach (the Gulf of Riga, which yes is much nicer than the Gulf of Mexico). Relying on the “Baltic Guide, About Latvia” (graciously given to me by Kaspars K), I headed to the train station. It wasn’t quite as easy as I thought it would be but I prayed and God led me to where I needed to go. When I went to buy the ticket I thought the woman said it was [View Full Entry]

8/18 I was sitting in what could have been the millionth “Double Coffee” I’ve been to since I came to Riga enjoying a nice cup of vanilla green tea and reading my Bible and I noticed an American flag by the bar. When I saw it, it hit me that I am going home in a few days and I realized a part of me is a little apprehensive, maybe even a tad bit scared. I haven’t been ‘home’ in 8 months and haven’t live there for a year. It is comforting to already know the plans God has for me [View Full Entry]

Alone In Riga 5:54 am and I am onboard a train to Oslo airport. It’s strange to think this may be the last time I will ever be in Norway (unless of course my Norwegian friends give me an excuse to come back!). It’s crazy that one year has already gone by. So much has happened this year. I feel like I’ve grown by leaps and bounds and pray that God continues to refine me and teach me even more when I go home. Kaspars K and his friend picked me up from the airport, dropped me off at the hotel [View Full Entry]

I love it when God speaks so loudly to us it’s like He is sitting right there in the flesh again. Last night was one of those experiences. It was the final night of the JR Army and we had a celebration at the Jesus Church. We performed three songs from the concert for the congregation then different people gave testimonies and finally at the end Pastor Rouse (Lauren’s dad) shared a message for all of us. When he was speaking, it was almost as if every word he was saying, God had been saying to me the past few months [View Full Entry]

During the last few days in the Jesus House we continued to wash windows and said goodbye to more of our team. Dina left early because she is starting her studies on the 14th of August. Dora left early as well to start her studies. Before Dora left we surprised her to celebrate her birthday (which is at the end of August) and wish her farewell, along the dock at Aker Brygge. Jesus Revolution also rented a boat for everyone to enjoy a tour of the fjords. It was a really nice way to end a wonderful year with all you [View Full Entry]

Driving the LT back to Olso
Driving the LT back to Olso
We got a bit greasy during our 27 hour journey back to Oslo. At least we got the 5 am to 12pm shift so it wasn't too bad!
The tour is over, summer team has ended, and we are now back in Oslo to take care of some practical work. We had a 27 hours drive back from Poland to Oslo. It felt strange to think seven months earlier we had headed out for the ‘ultimate road trip’ and it was now over. We left with nine people and returned with seven. Talitha is working with the team in Spain, and Elisa went home to the States straight from Poland to spend some time with her family before starting yet another year with Jesus Revolution. Our team is slowly [View Full Entry]

The summer team is now over and we are heading back to Oslo tomorrow. We spent our last few days in here Krakow shopping and just enjoying the city. We celebrated Elisa’s birthday since she will not be with us for the actual day. We saw a movie then had Chinese. Here are some pictures from the last few days and summer team. Less than a month and then I am home!!! Very excited but lots of praying and decision making to do! [View Full Entry]

Me, Beat, and Sophonie

We have now been in Krakow, Poland for 1.5 weeks. We are done with tour and are now leaders in a Jesus Revolution (JR) Summer Team. A Summer Team is a two-week missions trip for youth. We train them for 3 days in dance and drama along with teaching on evangelism then send them out on the streets of Krakow for the rest of the time. This year Teen Mania from the States has teamed up with JR, so there are many Americans here. The Teen Mania team also participated in the Summer Team in Munich, Germany which was the two [View Full Entry]
