This weekend two of my house mates and I went to Lyme Regis. Emily, Ali and I had such a good time exploring Lyme. Jane Austen's novel, Persuasion, is partial based in Lyme. We loved going to the Cobb and walking though we almost got blown off the top. Getting to Lyme was very crazy. We went to Salisbury but then when we got onto the next train we did not know that the first 3 cars split off and went where we wanted to go while the back cars went back towards Bath. Hello to all! I know I have not been posting like I should but papers have started this week so everything has been a little crazy!! I have been guiding more at the Jane Austen Centre which has been wonderful and I am becoming much more confident in the talks. Sorry my post have been so nonexistent this past week. My program went to Oxford where we didnt have wireless and lets just say it took a toll on everyone hahahah oo the 21st century how crazy it is. But anyways Oxford was lovely we stayed at University College which is one of the oldest colleges at Oxford. We all go private rooms which was great and two of our meals were provided everyday. I did first talk at the Jane Austen Centre today. I was so excited. I still had to use my notes a little. I was so trilled to be giving the talk so early. I was very nervous because I had never given and just practiced but it was much easier than i thought and after the 2nd and 3rd time I felt like i was really getting the hang of it. I went to London yesterday with Emily, Emily, Dustin and Ali! we had such a great time even though we had to get up at 4:45AM in the morning to catch the first train to London. Once we got to London at 8 in the morning we get breakfast and then went on the London Eye! it was a beautiful view of the city. while we were waiting in line for the eye we kept seeing these guys carrying Star Wars strom troopers down the road and we followed them after the eye. they were from the Movium. Last Thursday the Jane Austen Centre hosted a cocktail party for the Jane Austen Regency World Magazine. The magazine has been bought by a local Bath businessman named Tim Bullamore. It was lovely party and many members of the Centre who came. Becca and I got to dress up in Regency costume to serve and greet the guest. Tim Bullamore's 8 year old daughter Rebbecca also dressed up with us and she had such a good time. I was so excited to be dressed up and at the party. I Have spent a total day of Jane and even though I have not been feeling 100% because, "My sore throats are always worse than anyone's. " ; ), I have still had a wonderful day full of Jane. I started my morning at the Jane Austen Centre where I will shortly be giving talks in the next couple of weeks!!! Yesterday my World Beyond Oxford Class went on our class trip to Oxford and Birmingham. We got to see CS Lewis' house and them went to hike in the wilderness behind his house. Then we traveled to Birmingham to see a mill, and a bog that "influenced" Tolkien in his childhood. We also stopped to see two towers that were suppose to be the inspiration of the two towers but they were not as fun as the bog : ). In Oxford we got see Lewis's home.
