A picture tells a thousand words. You may be disturbed You may be amused You may think what on earth are they doing Two words ROLLER DERBY There is something unbelievably fun about girls roller skating round in circles trying to knock eachother over and then at the end of it having a big party to celebrate together a win or a loss. It helps when one of the girls is your mates girlfriends so you dont seem like too much of a obsessed crazed fan. Needless to say we had a blast at the bout and also down town after [View Full Entry]

The adventures of Bill
Such a fine line between pleasure and pain.
Waves - real waves at last. Unfortunatley in thse parts it takes a Hurricane/Cyclone to track off the coast as Bill did for there to be real waves. As you can see Bill tracked perfectly to not only provide great sized waves (the bouys peaked at 12 feet at 18 seconds) but it was coupled with perfect off-shore winds to seal the deal. And to top it off it peaked on Saturday morning allowing a good solid all day surf to take place both Saturday and Sunday. almost forgot what noodle arms and rashed tummies felt like. 30+ air and water [View Full Entry]

Following is an account of the first day of my trip to Canada to re-new my US working VISA. For a bit of background i was trying to fly on a friends buddy pass meaning if there are no free seats on the flight you simply have to wait for the next flight. So here we go.......... 0350 - It doesn’t matter how early you rise, a shower and a really large bowl of cornflakes lightly sprinkled with sugar and half a litre of water is what gets me going every morning. Why no weetbix - they dont have them here! [View Full Entry]

Generally drive anywhere from 4-6 hours on the sunday night or early monday morning, work all week then charge back to Charleston at the end of the week. Thought id give you all a little pictorial essay of the sights and sounds of my travels! Catch you later you bunch of lunatics. [View Full Entry]

Where i visited
Guess what. I went to Washington DC and didnt bring my camera. Idiot Simon. So i have pilfered the internet and included photos of sites i did see. Now to give a very brief and probably not very accurate description of US polictical history. In 1789 George Washington became the 1st President of the United States of America, hence the capital is called Washington DC with the DC being District of Columbia in recognition of Christopher Columbus. Native americans like aborigines in Oz were alledgedly around for about 50,000 to 60,000 years before white eurpoeans showed up but i guess they [View Full Entry]

First up youll be pleased to know that i heard NPR (national public radio - a simply fabulous radio programme broadcast nationally ala triple J but whose emphasis rather than on music is on real news and current affairs both locally and globally - check it out at http://www.npr.org/ - simply tremendous coverage)......anyway the lead local story was that some of the local councillors in all their wisdom are trying to pass legislation aimed at deeming illegal [View Full Entry]

Wave of the day!
Second best wave of the day!
Second best wave of the day continued....

Just in case you were closing out some international agreements or ratifying treaties soon i thought i should quickly let you know that one of the pretty important courts here in the US made a ruling and as i understand it made out that unless a treaty or protocol made specific reference that the states here in the US had to abide by it then it wasnt binding to the states. So for example if the US federal govt ie the president, were to join Ruddy and finally ratify the Kyoto Protocol to reduce CO2 emmissions if the protocol did not [View Full Entry]
