Buenos Nochas Blog Readers! So this is our final blog of this incredible journey. We´ve found a really nice hostel in Lima (just down the road from the Stop and Drop Inn but a hundred times better!). We´ve just found out that the airport charges a 92 Soles tax on anybody going on international flights so to save us having to withdraw any money from an ATM (which costs about $5 a time) we´re saving our pennies big time! It should be possible to get through tomorrow on the money we have though! We landed in Puerto Maldonado airport on Monday and picked up by the owners of the Anaconda Jungle Lodge - Donald and Waddi. The lodge was absolutely amazing. It was honestly paradise and we´re so jealous of the owners lives! They have about ... read more

Greetings Blog Readers! I think I signed off last time before we went off to Machu Picchu so I´ll fill you in on the details! Machu Picchu is basically why everybody comes to Peru, and really, South America. It was an ancient Inca City perched high in the mountains and was discovered by Hiram Bingham at the start of the 20th Century (although apparently many people knew about it before him but he was American, rich and important so everybody took notice once he´d found it!). Consequently, it is a huge draw for tourists, and hence, money for the country. This means that it´s illegal for tourists to use the local trains and the cost of going there is huge. However, it was definitely worth all the money! We got up early and shared a taxi ... read more

Hola Blog Readers, Worried Parents and Bowel-Movement Enthusiasts, I wrote the last blog just before we went out for a meal in Puno I seem to remember. We found a nice little restaurant down a back alley which gave a really good set menu for 15 Soles. We walked outside and this man I recognised was walking past us. I thought he was one of my old primary school teachers but it turned out to be the actor who plays Max Scully from the Australian soap Neighbours. Laura said I played it cool and didn´t look like too much of an idiot. I think she´s probably just not wanting to hurt my feelings. She had no idea who he was and just kept walking before realising I was talking to him! Luckily a market had been ... read more

Hola Blog Readers! We´ve just come back from three spectacular days in Bolivia. We set off from Puno just after breakfast on Thursday morning for a coach ride to Copacobana. It only cost 10 Soles for the 3 hour trip. Once there we booked a boat ride across to the small island called Isla Del Sol where we would be spending the night. We had a look at few of the shops and bought some horrible food before getting on the 1.5 hour boat ride. It was quite choppy at the start but the views of the islands were amazing, the water was clear and because Lake Titicaca is so big it felt like we were sailing out to sea! It was, however, the first time we´d seen any clouds since Lima! Once at the Isla ... read more

Hola Blog Readers! We thought we´d send a quite blog update before we go to Bolivia tomorrow as we don´t really know what the internet situation is. In fact, I don´t think they have electricity on the island we´re staying on! After getting back from the trek we realised that we´d only booked one bus ticket from Arequipa to Puno so we had to cancel that (no refund!) and get on the ´recommended´Julsa bus for half the price. The recommendation in the guide book and from the hostel clearly didn´t get us prepared for what was to come! We left Casa De Avila at 7am and I´d been up all night with the runs so I had to sink 3 immodiums to sort it out! The coach didn´t set off until 8:30am and it was absolutely ... read more

Buenos Dias! We've literally just got back from our 3 day trek! We thought we should fill you in on whats been happening! On Thursday night we got a coach out of Lima which would take us to Arequipa overnight. We set off at 6pm and arrived in Arequipa at around 10am. The coach trip was fine. They served us dinner and breakfast and we got to watch some movies. I think Laura put a request in because none other than The Little Mermaid was put on in the morning! There was only a little leg room for old lanky here but the seats reclined quite far back so we could get some sleep in. Some poor little Peruvian kid got really travel sick and I'm slightly surprised that we didn't! We got a taxi out ... read more

Hola! We´re finally here in Peru! I guess our trip actually started on Tuesday when we went into London and spent the day with April seeing the sights and not being able to find a Nando´s anywhere! We had a nice stay at the Jury´s Inn hotel at Hatton Cross station so it was very close to Heathrow and we were able to get to and from London for the day. We woke up yesterday at 5am and got one of the first tubes out to Terminal 4 at 6am before getting on the plane to Houston, Texas which arrived at about 12:40 local time (6:40pm our time) and we got some fast food during our wait at the airport. We got onto our connecting flight to Lima which was nearly an hour late taking off ... read more

Bonjourno Blog Readers! We're just packing for our trip to Peru and thought we should send out a 'taster' blog for anybody thinking of following us on our travels. If you're reading this then save the link so you can get to it quickly each time we update it! I think it should be http://www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/Tink-And-Laura/ . The plan of action is to fly into Lima, get a coach to Arequipa then move to Puno before spending a few days in Bolivia via Copacabana and La Paz. We'll then visit Cusco and Machu Picchu before flying to Puerto Maldonado in the Amazon Basin. We're thinking of travelling across to Brazil at some point since we're only about 4 hours coach ride away! We then fly back to Lima and do some last minute present shopping before coming ... read more

Good evening/afternoon blog readers! So this is the final blog from India! Absolutely gutted and it's gone far too quickly! We had a mental day of travelling yesterday. We got up at 7am and got a rickshaw to the bus stop 1km away for 30Rps and then we got a bus to Trivandrum which is about 100km away for 34Rps - doesnt really make any sense. We then got a plane from Trivandrum to Chennai and then from Chennai to Delhi before getting a taxi to our hotel for 200Rps. The flight to Delhi was absolutely epic. We were with Jet Airways and basically treated like royalty. We had TVs with a massive selection of films and we got fed constantly. It was only a 2 hour flight too! The Trivandrum-Chennai one was on some rickety ... read more

Hello blog readers, I'm absolutely gutted because I did an amazing blog 2 days ago in Goa and just as I clicked publish I got onto a screen saying I'd logged out and the blog hadn't been published. Laura doesn't want me to sit re-writing another blog (because she gets bored sat here watching me read it - I told her to go out into the night and try and get mugged - she didn't find it funny but I know my Dad would have told me to do the same thing). Anyways, I guess we'll just have to tell you about our days last couple of days in Goa for another time. Needless to say, we hired a scooter (hope you were sitting down Mum), parked outside a police station without a license or helmet, ... read more
