Fri 30th Up at 5.30 for a quick snack then on a truck fro 25 to Chobe National park. We saw lions just after they had killed a buffalo and spotted a leopard which means I’ve now seen all the big five- Leopard, Lion, Buffalo, Elephant and Hippo. It was a shame the truck was so big as if you were sat on the wrong side from the animals you cant see very clearly. In the afternoon we went on the boat trip that I had paid extra to do on the way up. We saw loads more this time- Hippos [View Full Entry]

The falls Africa » Zambia » Livingstone
Thur 29th Packed the tent up with Dani for the last time and carried all my stuff to the new truck. Then everyone who hadn’t been to the falls yet got into a truck and went with minimal clothing and belongings as we got told everything got wet went to the falls. I love my waterproof camera for times like this. The falls were spectacular they are a mile and half across and you cant see the bottom as there is so much water going down it sprays back up so high that it rains from above and below. We [View Full Entry]

Rinos Africa » Zambia » Livingstone
Wed 28th Up for 7.15 to go on a Bush walk to see the white rhinos. The reserve only has 2 left after 2 died of old age and 2 drowned in the river- Rhinos can't lift their heads above their shoulders so drown if fall into water. There was only 2 of us on the walk which was great. We got quite close to a giraffe as well as a dung beetle! We made a toothbrush out of a twig, saw the inside of a termite mound and learnt 2 cures for asthma- first drinking rhino pee or more [View Full Entry]

Sunset on the boat cruise

Mon 26th Up at 5.30 for bush walk. It was a very brisk pace and we saw some cool footprints of elephants and wild dogs and some sort of cat, but that was it no animals. Then we had a 3 hour drive to Thebe which I slept through. After lunch (we make sandwiches at the truck) we went on a boat cruse down Chobe river. It was really good, not just the animals but some cool sky, a rainbow and a bit of thunder and lightening but not on us. Most impressively we saw lots of Hippos but we [View Full Entry]

Next country- so soon! Africa » Botswana
Sat24th Bus journey into Botswana. Got the table again as everyone else seemed to just sit in their original seats. Swam again on arrival with water pistols to add mischief. Dinner was butternut squash which was lovely. Early night as didn’t sleep much the night before. Sun 25th No table or cards on journey to Nata but there were some trashy magazines to read. When we got there it was raining hard. Once it stopped Frik threw me into the pool with all my clothes on- totally unprovoked- honest! Hot shower after that was bliss. Spaghetti for dinner and watched [View Full Entry]

Sun18th I arrived at 5.30 after having a 10 hour flight with little leg room and although I had 3 spare seats next to me the arm rests didn’t lift up so I couldn’t spread out. I had breakfast at the airport while waiting for the shuttle. Once I arrived at the Backpackers, which is surrounded by 6 foot fencing, I went down to their swimming pool- as there wasn’t a spare bed yet. I got talking to a few people it is nice and relaxed here. In the afternoon I joined a group on a tour around Johannesburg. We [View Full Entry]

Cu Chi Tunnels Asia » Vietnam » Southeast » Ho Chi Minh City » Cu Chi
Fri 16th Fay wan't feeling well (not all due to hang over) so Becky and I rose at 7 to get our tour bus to the Cu Chi tunnels where the local Vietnames hid and lived in a series of tunels. (I just went to Petes blog to try to get a great informative description but he didn't visit!). The visit started with the usual bus stop at the local craft shop. Once we had arrived at the tunnels we watched a video which was increadably anti american, calling them all sorts- I cant remember the exact words but it made [View Full Entry]
