Sat 27th I got the poshest train into town from the airport- TV adverts and everything. Then to monorail to the Green House lodge which is lovely new and has free internet- bonus! If anyone from the group wants to email me a good photo of the longhouse for this bit it would be great as my camera died. Thur 25th Up and into 2 minibusses to drive most of the day to the river to get in even even thinner longboats. Tue 23rd We go to the airport (one undercover walkway waiting room) to find our flight has been delayed till the afternoon so we sat waiting for it and playing cards. Then as the plane came to land it started raining so it turned around and couldn't land. It was stil planed to try again but in the end they canceled it. Mon 22nd 15min into our walk to the caves it starts raining and I mean really raining- the insides of my trainers are wet because of the rain running down my trowser leg. There is a shelter near the caves and when we get ther it just about stops raining!! We visit Lang cave which has lots of stalagtites and mites and we spot shapes and pictures in them. Fri 19th Last night wemet the other half of the new group- Luc, Nathalie and Eric from french canada and Michelle from Aus. We had an early start to drive to river where we boarded weird bots that were the top half of aroplans with thee seats stuck onto boats. I got the front sleep and sleped for the first 3hr boat ride. wed 17th Jan In the morning we traveled to the airport and flew back to Kota Kinabalu where we stayed in a lovely place at the seaside. In teh evening we had our last meal together and then went into town back to where we spent our first night and then onto a club. Tue 16th Jan Still raining hard the next morning we got a choppy boat ride back to the main land- somehow I managed to sleep. We then got taxis to the Orangutan rehabilitation centre. We went down to watch the first lot of Orangutangs at 11. Ofcourse it was raining but not to hard. There were lots of pigtailed maquaks trying to steal the pupmkin food. Sun 14th Jan After I last wrote I went back to get a well needed shower and then met Rachel adn Claire at 5 to go and visit a temple- the others had all gone to a Australian war memorial first. Fri 12th A 8.45 Bus journey to Batu Puteh Village which is on the Kinabatangan river and on the edgeof the jungle. However suprise suprise because of the rain it is to wet and muddy to camp in the jungle so we have 2 nights staying with a local family. First we went of a boat ride up the river and saw lots of long tail monkeys and an Orangutan making its nest for the night which was very cool but very high up in the trees to see clearly. The not so Poring Hot springs Asia » Malaysia » Sabah
Wed 10th After we had all made it down the mountain we headed of to Poring hot springs for what was suppost to be a relkaxing couple of days in the hot water. HOWEVER... When we arrived to flooding had blocked the water pipes and so the whole village had no running water so no showers. Not a problem I thought lets all go to the hot springs to wash.
