So you would think that in our 3 years in Sydney we would have seen quite a bit of NSW and the east coast...well, no :) But we still managed to see quite a bit.... Hunter Valley (August/Oct 2010, Nov 2011...and I swear there was another time in early 2011...) We originally went here for our anniversary in April 2010, but this became favourite place with Jeremy and Laura, as they loved going there too, and had a little cottage that they always rented out. It was a chalet in the middle of the bush with a spa on the balcony!! It was normally a spare of the moment decision to go, but it was always a welcome two night break from the city where we just relaxed. The first couple of trips we all fit ... read more

So after almost 3 years of not writing in here, I think its about time that I updated!! :) Our travels are far from over, and so we need to tell the world about our past 3 years!! So Sydney became home to us. We have had an absolutely amazing time here, and have made so many memories...I just don't know where to start!! :) Last I left off, Steve was Head chef at Toros and I was Evening Supervisor at Plate Restaurant. Work stayed this way until June 2011. We were then offered the opportunity to run and manage Plate Restaurant. It was too good to turn down, so we took it. It was such a good experience, and one that we will never regret, but in the end it wasn't for us (especially being ... read more

So slowly keeping you all updated :) I've changed the way I'm doing the maps now too. Instead of showing you where we have been from start to now, it'll just be based out of Sydney, because it takes waaaay too long to add each off the points. When we eventually leave here, I'll start from the beginning, cos the map just looks awesome that way...haha make sense?? :) So we are still living in Sydney, and are planning on being here for awhile now. We have both found jobs we love, right on Darling Harbour. Steve is Head Chef at Toros, and I am Supervisor at Plate Restaurant. We both work 6 days a week, and have Tuesday's off together. Sux working so many days, but at the same time it means we're saving up ... read more

So we have finally arrived in Sydney! Arrived back in Hobart on the 27th and got straight to finishing our packing and organising everything. The tent STILL hadn't arrived, so we sorted all of that out (with basically only minutes to spare...but it wasn't our fault! Stupid delivery company!) and finished packing up the car, trying to get to bed fairly early. We were up again at 330 to get on the road as soon as possible...we had to be in Devonport for around 7am! We were lucky enough to find Banjos open in Campbelltown (our road trip coffee place) so we stopped off there for a very early morning coffee, and arrived in Devonport with plenty of time to spare. We had to sit in the queue for awhile before we were finally allowed to ... read more

December 12th 2009

We left Melbourne on the Sunday 22nd of Feb 2009. We were up nice and early, car mostly packed the night before, down in Port Melbourne before 7am ready to board the Spirit of Tasmania, bound for...Tasmania!! :) It was a long journey (9 hours!), and we were both very tired, and slept a lot of it, just on random seats throughout the boat. I also started reading 'The Time Travellers Wife' and so had my nose stuck in that most of the journey :) It felt so good to finally see land, and once we got off the boat in Devonport around 7pm, we straight away drove to set up at a caravan park that was right on the beach. We headed into town to find some dinner, but couldn't really find anything to eat, ... read more

Living in Melbourne

February 22nd 2009

We ended up staying in Melbourne till mid February. It wasn't what we thought it would be, disappointing both of us a little, but we still had fun. We stayed with Goog for two weeks, before we moved into a place in Flemington (the next suburb over from Goog) with two girls, Lyn and Ali, who were both in medicine. They were not fun to live with. Don't get me wrong, Steve and I realised how messy and disorganised we can be, but they were very particular about a lot of things. And with Steve and I working shift work, coming in late at night, they weren't happy if we made noise...we would get in trouble for the dvd player being too loud!! But it was a good location, and we could ignore them if need ... read more

November 3rd 2008

So we finally left Adelaide. It took us 8 months, but we finally did it. I finished up work on Monday 27th October. My last shift was actually meant to be on the Tuesday night, but I wasn't feeling 100% all Monday night (left work a little earlier because of it). I couldn't sleep well at all that night, and work up on Tuesday feeling terrible. I had a feeling what is was (and I blame Cassie!!) :) but I went down to the doctor, who diagnosed me with my first time of tonsillitis and gave me some antibiotics! It made sense, I could barely swallow I was in so much pain, and I just felt exhausted :( So I went into work (I went in on the way to the doctors to call in sick...in ... read more

October 25th 2008

Sorry that it has been so long between entries. But nothing really has been happening...we're living the quiet life over here. Both settled down well into work. Steve worked at Fizz on the Beach, and had the best time down there with that crowd. I start work at Coles (surprise surprise) :) I started at 3IC of the Deli, so I was working nights until 930. Then in June I was offered Nightfill Manager position. it was a big step, obviously, but something that I wanted to try. It was certainly an experience, and one that I now know my weak points and what I need to learn. But it was good fun. Our main group of friends was from Coles, as I quickly became friends with the deli girls there, which continued even when I ... read more

April 28th 2008

Well i am sitting here by myself for the second afternoon in a row, and decided it was about time to add something to this. Steve worked yesterday (sunday) and is at work atm (its 3:20pm), but i there was a chance everyone would be flying out tuesday morning, so i took monday nite off as well. as it turned out they flew out sunday morning, and although i let mel (deli manager) know that i could work today, she obviously didnt need me, so i am sitting here waiting to start work tomorrow long winded...slightly cabin fever...its cold outside, and cant decide whether it wants to rain or shine, so its doing a little bit of both, which means i cant really get outside atm. although i walked with steve wen he started work, and ... read more

March 28th 2008

Okay so now we have moved on from grape picking. It was getting a little frustrating, cos by the time we left we had only worked 4 outa 10 days. so even tho we werent spending much money at all, we needed to be making more. and the main lady didnt like us very much, so wen we were asked to leave, we gladly did. so we took of on sunday with the two poms rach and colby (who she also kicked out) and headed to Glenelg, the beach about 20 minutes from Adelaide. We spent a very relazing coupla nights with them at an awesum caravan park (coming back with Bradley). Steve and I slept in their tent, while they slept in their van, cos Skip still hadnt been finished, and becos it was Easter ... read more
