I'm in not-so-sunny Ballina with Leah right now....waiting for the sun to come through so I can hit the beach. After the outback safari all my friends left, while I stayed in Alice Springs for one extra day. it was an uneventful day of sleeping in, spending time on the internet and walk little walk into the town to buy opal earrings. Soon after i started my walk I was the victim of a drive by boob-grab by a young aboriginal kid on a bike! Ugh. Next I flew off to Melbourne and went out to Mornington...about 1.5 hour from the city, to stay with Nicole, Maxine and Bec in their little home. i decided to stay for a full week. One day Nic and I rented kayaks and paddled around Mother's Bay looking at giant ... read more

HOT is the best word to describe my last 5 days. I started with two full days of driving in a tour bus of 24 people from Adelaide to Alice Springs. I rode as co-pilot with our aussie guide Trevor, who had recently just finished working for two years in the mines in the middle of the aus outback. He had SO many stories that I rarely slept though the drive. We stopped the first night in Coober Pedy, unfortunately we arrived in the evening time so all the opal mines were closed. So we had our pizza, went to an underground bar and then went to bed in an underground hostel, very neat! Can't say we really did much on that two day tour since we spent most of it on a bus with a ... read more

Christmas with the Gellards was great! Julianne and Cole (Courtney's parents) even got me the perfume I was looking all over for. We did a big Turkey lunch at the unlces, visited a family friend for christmas pudding then went to the grandparents for prawns and salad and rolls. i was so thankful for my bed by the end of that day! Boxing day one day one of liver failure. We hosted a party at the girls house and tons of people showed up, such loyal friends! We had a BBQ, ate salads, and drank a bathtub full of beer and wine bottles. The night did end on a sour note when Courtney's ex got drunk and started having a screaming match with Jenna... but I had a great time and got to meet everyone possible! ... read more

6:15am Dec 22-7:30pm Dec 24 i spend with an amazing group of backapackers on Kangaroo Island. We were on a 3day/2night tour with Groovy Grape Getaways and we had an absolute blast doing EVERYTHING there is to do on KI. I rode in the front seat of the van with an Swiss girl (Michelle) and our aussie "tour guide/friend" (Lawrence). The three of us danced and sang to music for the whole road trip over there and on the island. Our group had 1 japanese, 2 italians, 3 isreales, 1 french, 1 austrian, 1 swiss, 2 english and me the canadian. Day one was grocery shopping, a Eucalyptus distillery, a Marron farm with wine tasting, setting up camp at "the cottage", watching all the Kangaroos on our property (i got a great video of 2 kangaroos ... read more

After Melbourne I took a LONG overnight bus to Adelaide arriving at Courtney's doorstep shortly after 6am. I'm living in a house with Courtney and her two friends and I'm just one of the girls now. The first day Beth took me around the city, we even went paddleboating, before we met up with the other girls to go to a friends art show at a trendy little lounge with free wine. Needless to say the waine eased us into a great night. We've since spent our days Christmas shopping (or in my case shopping for myself...yay new skinny jeans!!) and prepping for Christmas. They have an entire street where cars arnt allowed that is the mall, its full of Christmas entertainers including some eerie Gospel choir that completely changed the feeling of jingle bells for ... read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Melbourne! It's alot like home, but bigger and filled with Aussies. So two days ago after at least 36 hours of flying I arrived in a small airport on the outskirts of Melbourne. I immediately met Doreen who was also trying to find a bed at a hostel on the phone. We found a place together and then hoped on the bus. We found a room at the Discovery Hotel two streets away from the city center. We have one roommate who tends to sleep all day and night and doesn't say much. That night we met up with two Estonian guys she had met on the Gold Coast. The four of us went out for a few drinks and some heated worldly discussions. Yesterday we went on a free tour provided ... read more

I've got 4 hours to kill in the Singapore Airport and what a place to spend it! It's like a city IN this airport: free internet, movie theatres, every kind of restaurant or shopping you could want, they give free siteseeing tours of the city, there's a SWIMMING POOL and I so wish I'd known that cuz I could be out basking in the 30 degree sun of Singapore. I'm in "maintaining" stage with my tan right now. Travelling for 2 days starting with a ride in the back of a pickup truck down the back roads of Koh Lanta to catch a ferry, transfer AT SEA to another ferry, cram into a full airport shuttle and then take 3 planes to Melbourne. I have yet to find a place to sleep when I get there ... read more

I am pleased to say that after all the hairpulling and waiting I did in Brisbane I did manage to find my parents in Thailand. To kill time my last day in Brisbane I thought it fitting to go see Australia the movie. Boy was that a LONG movie...good, but I lost part of my youth during it. Bright and early Tuesday morning I packed and shuttled back to my beloved Brisbane International Airport to pick up my tickets and take my first flight to Singapore. That flight went smoothly and I shared my seats with British Scott who was sad to be leaving his new boyfriend in Brisbane. Scott was hilarious, we decided to get drunk on out flight by drinking the free wine and then sharing iPod playlists. The time "flew" by (pardon the ... read more

So it's Dec 1st here in Brisbane Australia and I SHOULD be in Phuket Thailand. Due to civil unrest AND bad communication be Thai Airways I discovered my flight was cancelled while AT the Brisbane Airport with my giant backpack (aka my travel buddy) at 10:00pm Saturday night. Hmmm...they couldn't book me another flight, or tell me anything or even find me a hostel/hotel to stay in for the night so after a river of tears I whipped out my sleeping bag and found a bed on a bench. In the morning I found a subway kiosk for breakfast and then booked a YHA on Roma street(yay!!!) to sleep at for 2 more nights until I got all this Thailand jazz delt with. Yesterday was a despressing day for me, where I hid in my quiet ... read more

Day 1 in Cairns started before 7am, while I waited to get a room at my hostel. I was SO tired at this point and it was so effing hot that I got a key to the common room and slept in front of the tv for 3 hours, then got a room and slept for another 3. I met with Anna for dinner before getting an early sleep. Day 2 I was on a bus to the Tully river for a full day of river rafting at 7am. I had a great time, even got to sit at the very front of the raft holding on for dear life while the waves cleared my sinuses! It was a beatiful day to be rafting down the cool river through the rainforest. I wasn't a fan of ... read more
