Christmas with the Gellards was great! Julianne and Cole (Courtney's parents) even got me the perfume I was looking all over for. We did a big Turkey lunch at the unlces, visited a family friend for christmas pudding then went to the grandparents for prawns and salad and rolls. i was so thankful for my bed by the end of that day!
Boxing day one day one of liver failure. We hosted a party at the girls house and tons of people showed up, such loyal friends! We had a BBQ, ate salads, and drank a bathtub full of beer and wine bottles. The night did end on a sour note when Courtney's ex got drunk and started having a screaming match with Jenna... but I had a great time and got to meet everyone possible! The next day we attended a Kegs for Kids party followed by going to a bar call Jive. The night was crazy I drank alot and met so many people. Got home around 7:30am (ps the bars are open until 6am here!!!) and then back up at 9:45 to go on a wine tour with Fletch and Adam. We drove up to Clare and the
Barossa Valley. The lack of sleep and hangover/still drunk effect wore off shortly after arriving at Maggie Beer farm where I ate pate and cheese and fruit.
Monday was a shopping day, exploring the town and having dinner at Courtney's parents cute little house in the city. Tuesday we borrowed the car to drive up to Hahndorf a little German village outside the city. We did a little shopping, ate some lunch at a facny german pub and had delicious hot chocolate at a little cafe.
New Years eve was a gong show to say the least. Courtney, Jenna and I headed into the city for an afternoon BBQ followed by pre-drinking and getting ready at Anita's. The gang of us then walked back into the city to go to jive again, our party bar of choice. We danced the night away, met new people, some guy names Bill followed me everywhere all night (I called him my shadow), I got a free lollypop from the convenience store clerk at a Quik-e-mart (we like to call him apu), went back and forth between jive where the girls were and Enigma (metal bar) where Adam and co were. I made it
home safely with the girls and after a short sleep we started drinking again on the kitchen floor. We made eggs and bacon and called people to come over the New Years continued until the mid evening.
Finally Jan 2nd was my last day in Adelaide so I spent most the day packing all my belongings into a bursting backpack...almost an impossible task! That evening we went into the city for 2for1 cocktails at La Bohemme and stumbled our way to Gilbert Street Hotel for dinner. I had chicken parmi (aka chicken schnizel parmesan!). About 18 people showed up for my goodbye dinner, pretty much every good friend that I had made in my quick 3 weeks in Adelaide. It was wonderful! What a great group, i hope they come visit me one day too.
