After all the madness of Sydney and 2 months driving, we were looking forward to kicking back on a resort and being waited on for a week, so Fiji seemed like the exact place we needed. After the 7 hour journey we were greeted at the airport by a huge indo Fijian called Uma, who immediately warned us that driving at night was NOT a good idea and also the place we were booked into was in the middle of nowhere and allthough it was really nice, there would be no one else there but us and that we should have booked elsewhere, so we were a bit apprahensive from the start. The journey was 2 hours long along pitch black unlit roads, and every so often a few cows would appear from nowhere, then a ... read more

After our whitsundays trip, we booted it down to Surfers Paradise to meet up with Questy and Sarah at a friends birthday party. The party was in an old colonial style house that has been turned into a club. It was a wicked party with a few different djs playing breakbeat style house accompanied by a live bongo player, who by the end of the night, because of so much bongoing had plasters on every finger, now thats hardcore bongoing!!!! The party was wicked and everyone made us feel very welcome, so big up to all the Kiwi massive !!!! After a few days at Surfers just chillin we got back on the road and spent a few days travelling back to Sydney for our flight to Fiji.... read more

Well Arlie beach is basically the gateway to the Whitsundays and the great Barrier Reef, so pretty hectic and full of backpackers but we loved it here. Our accomodation was on a hill so great views of the reef from our windows. We booked a 3 day excursion on the Eureka 2. Its a Maxi sailing yacht that still races the Sydney to Hobart and various other races in the summer, but retires in the winter to the whitsundays for practice. We were promised 3 days of pure heaven, cruising the Barrier reef, snorkling and food cooked by al la carte chef. All this was true but they failed to mension that HARDCORE WHITE knuckle sailing was on the agenda and on the first day people were hurling over the back of the boat. We managed ... read more

Well after a few days driving up the coast, we met up with some old friends who recently emigrated to Brisbane, and they kindly put us up and showed us around for a week. They live in Middle park, a suburb similar to neighbours and I think theyre like the madge and harold !! basically we just chilled , swam in theyre pool and they showed us all about the medieval aussie tradition of barbeques. They also have an abundance of creatures in theyre back yard including bats the size of cats and a poosom called pete, who theyve got addicted to various high e number foods like fruit n jelly and the all famous aussie raspberry Arnots cream biscuit and after a half a packet the possom goes a bit crazy and looks rather evil ... read more

After travelling up the coast from Sydney - newscastle - port Macquarie - kempsey - coffs harbour we arrived at Byron Bay which was a well needed 7 day break. Byron is a small backpackers hub, full of internet cafes and excursion agents mixed with wealthyish/arty people and small boutiques that are all struggling to take over the place, so it has a air of anti tourist verses hippy type people along with local surfers trying to look cool. We really liked here, lots of nice beaches to waste the afternoons and lots of places to eat/drink. The week we got here was the build up to the yearly blues festival, so the streets were lined with musicians/buskers which was cool. We took an excursion into the rain forest to see some wildlfe and waterfalls, which ... read more

Sorry about the lack of blogging, but lost my passwerds and login details, so now its all sorted I can update from he last month. We arrived in Sydney staying a mile or so from town center, in a hotel called the sulivans !!! Its in an area called Paddington, which is a boutiquey area just 2 minutes from the scary Kings Cross neighbourhood. We managed to do all the major attractions in the first few days, Darling Harbour, The opera house and all around the harbour area. Tori decided to go do the Opera House tour so I went off for a wander and ended up having a refreshing schooner of Tooheys new in the Jazz cafe...Nice!!!! The weather was around 28-30 but Australia tends to fluctuate around 10 degrees during the days so the ... read more

We thought the Royal benja was posh ?!!! The Asia Beach Pattaya was even better, Our own Beach with bar and restaurant, swimming pool with swim up bar. Once venturing into Pattaya we soon realised that this was just a 3rd generation of an entertainment town from the war days, loads of bars restaurants and places of ill repute, but now not just workin girls, but a whole few streets called boys town ??? We were happy to find out that the weekend we arrived was the once a year music festival and the main beach road was hosting several arenas of live music shows everynight. There is an area called walking street, which like Bangkok was full of market stalls and street vendors selling various foods and creatures but basically sold the same stock as ... read more

Well we arrived in Bangkok and it was about 35 degrees and it felt hotter !!! From the off it was a pretty mad culture shock, but on check in at our hotel we were happy with the grandness and for the price it was pretty amazing, "the Royal Benja" was bang on the Sukohmvit ( the main drag of Bangkok), the streets were lined with market stalls and street vendors selling all the fake gear (t-shirts,dvd's and music cds) and all the latest weapons needed to arm a small army. The smell of the place is one that will stick in our minds, like charcoaled meats and sewage mixed together with a high dose of traffic fumes. Something which did surprise us was a limbless man pulling his torso along the busy side walk holding ... read more
