Sarah and Princess Sparkle explore the world

Can you believe it. I've been gone for more than 2 years. Wow, who would of thought when I took off on my 6 month adventure. But both Princess Sparkle and I are still kicking on and enjoying ourselves. Still many places to see and lots of things to do but I promise we will come home one day :-)

Ok I know it's been a very long time between blogs. Nearly 3 years actually. I got a bit distracted, busy, lazy, whichever you want to pick but I thought it was about time for me to restart the blog seeing I'm spending 6 months travelling Central and South America. I may, if I remember do a summary blog when I get back about all the places I've been in the last 3 years but please don't wait in anticipation as I will probably forget. Anyway here goes with the updates on the next big adventures in the world of Sarah. Oh yeh, by the way, Princess Sparkle has not accompanied me on this trip. So first port of call was Cancun, Mexico. I don't have anything nice to say about this place. It reminded me ... read more

A White Christmas at last

Ok it has taken me a long while to publish this and the following blog entries. I have been extremely slack and I apologise to all those who have been waiting to read them. But here you go with photos and all. ___________________________________________________________________ What a better way to end 2006 and start 2007 than a trip to the snow with friends. I headed off with 5 friends (Mic, James, Daniel, Belinda & Rebecca) on an organised tour thingy to Flaine which is in the French Alpes. It was a 18 hour bus trip which involved me getting to know 3 people in our little crew of whom I had not met before. But it didn't take long for us all to become great friends and are still great friends to this day. Our trip consisted of ... read more

2006 a summary

Published: September 12th 2007Europe » Italy » Sardinia

So much has happened this year and it's taken ages for me to get off my butt to do a blog and load up some photos. So here is a bit of an overview. Earlier this year I became good friends with Mic who is friends with a mate back home. Since then we've done quite a bit together and no, for all you out there raising their eyebrows, he is not a boyfriend just a good mate. In June we headed off to Sardinia for a week. Sardinia is an island of the west coast of Italy. We hired a car and drove around the island stopping in various towns. Our main aim was to just hang on the beach but unfortunately it was overcast a lot of the time but we did get a ... read more

Just a quick stop

Published: November 21st 2006South America » Colombia » Bogota

Ok, I know I've been a bit slack seeing I started writing this 2 months ago but have only just got around to adding the photos. So here is the last installment of my Columbia & Guatemala trip. Back in Bogota again and it was still a bit over whelming. Although my spanish has now become existant I'm still struggling. People here speak very fast unlike Guatemala where everyone just cruised along. but the good thing is that I can understand so much more than I did before and in a round about way can have a very basic conversation. If I didn't mention it last time I was in Columbia I will try my best to describe Bogota. Bogota is a massive city with so many confusing bits about it. it is surrounded by mountains ... read more

Well the last 2 weeks have been pretty mad. Much drinking and dancing. It's been great but I'm starting to think that the big nights or the hangovers in the morning have been impacting on my ability to learn Spanish. I've made a great little group of friends from all over which I've been having a ball with. The only problem was that we basically ended up in a bar every night. But the salsa clubs were great. Basically you would walk in and guys would ask you to dance. And the best part was that most of them didn't try anything they genuinely just wanted to dance. It was a lot of fun but difficult because Guatemalian men in general are really short & I mean maybe my shoulder height short, so some of the ... read more

I have to say that so far this trip has been amazing. I have seen so many fabulous things in the last week I'm going into overload. The weekend was no exception. I visited three amazing sites of acient Mayan cities and all I can say is WOW. But I will start from the beginning. I travelled with a fellow student from school, Regina who is from the USA. She was pretty cool and very interesting. We flew into to Flores which is in the north of Guatemala on Friday night. Basically nothing to really share with you for Friday. Pretty boring actually. Just went to hotel and slept. But up bright and early Saturday for a big day. We met up with our guide, Dieter at a small resturaunt then headed to our first. Dieter ... read more

We made it to Guatemala and what can I say but culture shock. I'm living with a lovely Guatemalian family who only speak to me in Spanish. It is an interesting experience. Each day I understand a little more and can sort of now have conversations with them. I am living with a family which consists of the grandparents, husband and wife and wife's sister, three children and grandchild. very confusing. It is great though. They also serve me Guatemalian food which is good because they don't eat a lot of meat so it isn't a battle to try and explain the concept of being a vegetarian. Now comes school. My first week I was in a class of four. The funny thing is the school says they hardly get Australians and funnily enough there was ... read more

Well here I go on another adventure. First stop Columbia for 2 days. What can I say but "Wow, what a surprise!" Everyone I have met has been wonderful. I stayed with my friend, Steven's family. They were all wonderful. They showed me the city and were very hospitalible. I went out on my first night to a bar in Columbia with Steven's friend Jenni. She and her friends were great. Unfortunately I was so tired so I struggled but I did manage to stay out until 3.30am. It was great. Everyone danced. Salsa, samba, merangue and other dances I don't know the name. People tried to teach me but I definitely couldn't get to their level that quickly even though they were all nice enough to say that I had the right hip movements. Bellydancing ... read more

Surfing in England?

Published: June 21st 2006Europe » United Kingdom » England » Cornwall » Newquay

Wow I can't beleive I've been back for nearly 2 months. It feels like I haven't been home for 6 months. Staight back into the humdrum life of work and now study. I've returned to study at Kingston University which at the moment I'm wondering if it was one of my brightest decissions due to the amount of work I've got to do. Oh well I know that lovely peice of paper at the end will pay off. Over the Easter long weekend 3 of my friends and I decided to do a road trip to Newquay which is in Cornwall on the south-west coast of England. It's reputation was that it is the best surf beach in England and a really good place to go and party for the young. We soon discovered that 'young' ... read more

Back to the big grey

Published: March 30th 2006Oceania » Australia » Victoria

Hi everyone, Well I've been back in London for nearly 3 weeks & unfortunately I've aclimatised myself back into the bleak, grey, cold, wet........... Since I've been back all I have done is dreamed about the nice warm weather & blue skies that you all have, minus the big storm that decided to blow in on my birthday. But I am kinda happy to be back in jolly ol London. I do want to say that it was great to see you all and I wish I had had more time to spend with you. My time home was absolutely exhausting. I don't think I've eaten & drunk so much in years. Breakfast, lunch & dinner with coffee & cake in between. I was having so many meals I was starting to think I was a ... read more
