Ok it has taken me a long while to publish this and the following blog entries. I have been extremely slack and I apologise to all those who have been waiting to read them. But here you go with photos and all.

What a better way to end 2006 and start 2007 than a trip to the snow with friends.
I headed off with 5 friends (Mic, James, Daniel, Belinda & Rebecca) on an organised tour thingy to Flaine which is in the French Alpes. It was a 18 hour bus trip which involved me getting to know 3 people in our little crew of whom I had not met before. But it didn't take long for us all to become great friends and are still great friends to this day. Our trip consisted of approximately 60 people of whom at least 45 were Australian. Seriously, by the end of the trip my accent had broadened back up. We stayed in this hostel thing that looked like it catered for school camps or prisoner on holiday. It was a serve yourself dinning room with some of the worst food I have ever eaten. These french just could not
get their head around what a vegetarian is. Apparantly plan pasta and green beans is substantial. But it's ok cause the icecream was pretty good.
Now the aim of the trip was to learn how to snow board. For me this meant starting from the very beginning. So each day I headed off to the beginners group with a whole lot of strangers who were very anti-social and clicky (un-Australian if you ask me) but my other five friends got to hang out in their advanced group which was just them. I tell you what at lunch times I had to listen to all there stories of their sessions learning how to do jumps and tricks followed by their re-assurance that I would eventually work out how to get down the mountain without falling over 20 times. I felt like a bit of a nuff nuff snowboard veggie. But don't let this make it sound like I wasn't having a good time because I was. The guys were all very good about it all. So many days of snowboarding and evenings drinking with all our new friends we had met on the tour made for good fun. I have to
be honest and admitt that I didn't drink every night and did go to bed early once. But I think that has something to do with being old. Well that's what I tell myself anyway.
To be honest, Christmas day was a bit of a let down. They put on a big Christmas dinner for us but it really didn't feel like Christmas. My friend Mic and I made a deal to give each other presents so we would at least get something. Mic decided it was a good excuse to give me something that he and all around could have a good laugh at (sorry not giving details cause you would all laugh at me to). I met heaps of great people on this trip and have to say it is one of my favorite New Years to date. It was very crazy with lots of dancing and silliness with my new friends. Unfortunately I won't go into to details because I don't want people to get the wrong idea about me and you know kids could read this ;-)
So following on from a crazy New Years night where our little crew didn't bother to sleep was another
18 hour bus trip for us to return home. Now being in the state I was in, I was actually looking forward to a boring drive home but no. No our bus drivers had other plans apparantly. At least 2 hours before we left there was a massive snowstorm which meant a huge dump of snow. (mind you we got none for a whole week) Anyway as we were heading up the mountain all the buses stopped. Actually I should word it properly and say the buses stopped moving forward. Apparantly, (I say apparantly because I was pretty much passed out in the back of the bus with my mates), the bus in front of us start to slide towards the edge of the cliff which was then follwed by our bus. Both buses stopping inches near the edge. Thankfully, for me I wasn't really with it to tell you what it felt like but as a result we were all unloaded off the bus into the falling snow while our brillian bus drives (and I say that with complete sarcasim) put the chains on the tires. Why they didn't do this in the very beginning beats me. But after
an hour in the snow they managed to get them on and we were off again. Six episodes of Sex in the City and a couple of other movies got us back to London safely. I tell you what it was very exhausting trip but absolutely awesome.
