We left Buenos Aires for an 18 hour bus ride to Puerto Madryn. On the way whenever we stopped at traffic lights people would juggle to entertain us, it was really odd. We arrived at our hostel Chepatagonia in the morning, that afternoon we decided to do a bike ride to Punta Loma. It was 17 km each way. The hostel owner told us it would take 3 hours but took us 6!!!! The bike ride was so hard as we did'nt realise how hot it was going to be and the path was gravel and very difficult to ride on. We arrived in Buenos Aires after another 18 hour bus ride. We checked into our hostel Portal De Sul and got ready for our night out, at what was supposed to be the best club on a friday night, Bahrein. In Argentina their clubs dont get started until after 2, we were the first ones in the club at 1.30. We meet a guy who introduced us to his crazy Argentinian friends and had a good night. We slept all day and then got ready for another night out as it was Sams birthday the next day. We went out for [View Full Entry]

We left to catch the morning bus from Paraty to Sao Paulo but this was full so we had to wait around for 4 hours for the next bus. This took 6 hours to arrive in Sao Paulo we then took another bus to Iquazu taking 18 hours. We arrived in Foz De Iquazu at 10.30am and stayed at hostel Bambu. We visited the Brazilian falls that afternoon with our new Brazilian friend Chris. We got an open top bus to the trail which was beautiful and gave you an overview of the falls. There were Coaties along the paths and [View Full Entry]

We arrived at Ilha Grande approximately at 7pm after leaving Cococapana early that morning. A journey that was only supposed to take 5 hours ended up taking 9. The bus driver in Rio decided he was hungry and stopped for food with a bus load of people. This made us miss our connection bus which made us miss the last public boat. We finally found a private boat to Ilha Grande but had to pay more money. We reached the port in the dark and was told the hostel we had booked was right at the end of the beach. Our last day in Botafogo we went to the football stadium to watch Botafogo v Vasco, which was nothing like we had ever experienced in our lives. Trying to enter the stadium we were pushed, shoved and squashed like never before. We both nearly lost our flip-flops in the crowds and were surrounded by fat, sweaty men with their shirts off. It was disgusting but an experience we´ll never forget. Once in the stadium it was a lot of fun. We ended up sitting on the Vasco side but we think they had the better chants anyway. There were flares going [View Full Entry]

We left London Heathrow at 10pm and finally arrived in Rio at 8am local time after an unexpected stop-over at Sao Paulo. On attempting to board the bus we discovered they would only accept Brazilian Reals and not the US Dollars that we had exchanged. A kind man directed us to cash machines on the top floor, only to find out they were in portuguese only and didn't accept our cards. Our second thought was to find a bank to exchange our money but these did not open till later in the day. We ended up exchanging 20 pounds with a [View Full Entry]
