Hello everyone, beginning the countdown of our last week in Asia in a town called Kanchanaburi (Bridge on the river Kwai.) We are staying on the river in a floating raft room which is very picturesque- shame about the bed bugs that ate Katie alive on the first night- it only ever happens to me : ( Kanchanaburi is quite a large town so on our first day we hired Mitsy the moped and armed with a map from the tourist office and lonely planet we buzzed off to see the sights. We walked across the famous railway bridge (built through [View Full Entry]

Bangkok
Bangkok
How much could you buy for 250Bt?
Hello everyone! Rob here, I have been given the mighty task of delivering to you the activities undertaken by the both of us in the Capital of Thailand. We left Cambodia on the 16th April (Local New Year) and crossed the border caked in flour as is the custom. We had decided that Bankok had calmed down a little after the protests, as the bbc website believed that the auctioning of Mickey J memorabelia was a more significant news story. We got into the capital in the afternoon after a long bus Journey and found a guesthouse with 'air conditioning!' This [View Full Entry]

Here is a list of things we have done since arriving: -Rob took a ride on a bike with a strange man who wanted to show him the best hotels in the area. He survived and everyone was pleased. -We met a couple from Denmark who happened to be celebrating a birthday. Rob was a little poorly the next day. LAD. - tomorrow we are going snorkling. Siem Reap - Cambodia
Siem Reap - Cambodia
3 days at the temples
Hello everyone, currently in Sihanoukville, Cambodia but backtracking a bit to tell you about our time in Siem Reap first as we have been too lazy to update you for a while!! We arrived from Bankok on the afternoon of March 27th after a very bouncy and sweaty bus ride, the road to Siem Reap is notorious because parts of it are basically just a dirt track- although we were told improvements are being made!! We were delighted on entering the city to find that Cambodia does in fact have ATMs, having been assured by the slightly dodgy bus driver that [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone, Currently on the island Ko Tao in Thailand and looking very tanned. Since we last wrote we spent 3 nights in Penang in Northern Malaysia before enduring a 15 hour bus ride over the border into Thailand and then north to the 'party island' of Ko Pha-Ngan. We then took a longtail taxi boat round to the eastern side of the island to a quiet beach called Hat Juan. The sea was rather rough and there were some hairy moments as we bounced over the waves but we arrived in one piece with only slightly damp rucksacks. We found [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone, having a lovely time in the peace and quiet of the Cameron Highlands- the cool temperatures are a nice change- can actually walk around outside without dripping sweat after 10 minutes and the rain is quite reminiscent of home. We have been here for 5 days now and although we havent done that much it has been very pleasant as our hostel has a cheap bar and pool table and a nice common area where we have met lots of other travellers and Rob has lost numerous games of both chess and draughts (not to Katie it must be [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone, currently staying in a hostel in Kuala Lumpur (bed bugs and all!!). We have been here fir 3 nights now and have lots of things to let you know about. On this first day we just got used to the surrounding area and had a look at the markets and mcdonalds (3 in the local 500m). The next day we got up bright and early to visit the petronas towers (largest twin towers in the world) although you can only visit the skybridge that links the two towers and is only half way up the building (even from here [View Full Entry]

Hello there! Currently writing this from Melacca in Malaysia but we loved Singapore so much we thought we had to include a blog entry there. We left India on the 23rd and landed in the evening in Singapore (7.5 hours ahead of you guys). We were staying at quite a swanky hotel that we booled before we came out here. Singapore is a perfect city with no litter, horns, wild dogs etc. We were sad to be leaving today but its too expensive to be staying. During our short stay, we visited the zoo (amazing, better then any other on the [View Full Entry]

McTikki Aloo? Asia » India » Maharashtra » Mumbai
Just a quick one to finish off the India diaries as we are flying to our luxurious hotel in Singapore tomorrow- whoop whoop! Currently staying in the salvation army hostel in Mumbai- surprisingly civilised. Rob miraculously survived a mauling from a stray dog that he trod on whilst trying to multitask i.e read a map and walk, and we experimented further with the traditional Indian cuisine: Sugar cane juice (1pt) Thali (many large platefulls) McTikki Aloo (Maccy D's!) Cadburies Chocolate (katie) Whilst in Mumbai we have encountered all walks of life, this morning we had a lovely chat wit [View Full Entry]

Butlins Indian Stylee Asia » India » Goa » Arambol
Hello there! Since Agonda and our moped fun, we took a bus to Panaji, the capital of Goa and stayed in a hovel for 2 nights. We had to share a room with the biggest cockroach in S.E Asia which took great delght in waiting on the toilet to say goodnight to Katie (but for 350Rs we were happy). Panaji used to be occupied by the Portuguese and is by far the cleanest and prettiest town we have visited, with cottages and alley ways similar to those in Portugal and Spain. After nice long walks round the town we took a [View Full Entry]
