Well our first evening in Tokyo has gone brilliant. It is like New York but 50 times more vibrant. Even the side streets are a blaze of neon colour. We are planning to go to see the Imperial Palace tomorrow so we have to try to get around on the underground/metro system. For anyone who has used the underground system in London - just look at the complexity of this. We just found a great place to eat - mind you Tokyo seems to have millions and yes I mean millions of them. Anyway jet lag is now hitting so signing off. Night Night... read more

Arrived in Tokyo now and it is hot and humid. At first glance it seems very industrialised and concrete but that is only my first impression. Guess what we got from the airport to the hotel without a bad word between us (we must be learning, ha ha). Once booked into the hotel, Mike goes for a shower and I start reading the hotel directory. The last section is on personal safety - which puzzles me until I start reading it and it tells you what to do in an earthquake situation (talk about scaring the living daylights out of me). Not only that just as I finish this section the bed starts to shake (and before you say anything Mike still in the shower) and then the room rocks. What do I do? Scream Mike ... read more

Hi there. Well leg one of the trip from Manchesteer to LHR now complete. We are waiting for the next journey TOKYO oooooooh it is real now. Anyway lets start at the begining I get up to go to the loo last night at the airport hotel and guess what! I turn on the bathroom light and there is a big flash (No Mike was still in bed, ha ha) I blew the bloody fuse. As I was still half asleep I thought I had blown the hotels electrics but Mike explained that this would not happen. So we get to the check-in lounge to drop our bags off and Mike puts his rucksack on the scales first. It weighed 10.7kgs, so the moment of truth came when I put my bag on and guess what ... read more

Well it official I never go back into the Miller Street building as an employee again! So what are my thoughts on this? Well sadness, which to be honest,I did not think I would feel like that. I think it really hit me when my pass was taken from me after being escorted to Reception - that is when it really hit home. Since leaving school I have never been out of work and it feels real strange. What is Mike going to feel when he leaves the building on Friday!!! Anyway trying to catch up with everyone making sure they have my contact details. Just spoke to a close friend on the phone and guess what! When I put the phone down what was playing on the bloody radio "dont you forget about me" talk ... read more
