Either the alarm or manic traffic woke us all up pretty early. It was just as well because we had a long day ahead of us. Skipping breakfast (but only for the time being as Dale is now back) we took the MRT down to the harbour front, ready for a day on the island of Sentosa. After catching a quick bite to eat in various fastfood restaurants in the massive 'vivo city' shopping mall, we purchased our 'day of fun' tickets and boarded the Sentosa shuttle. It was seriously hot on the island and we took a quick walk down [View Full Entry]

Singapore

 Asia » Singapore
After what can only be called a slight lie in (although the traffic on the road outside was dieing to wake us all up) we went down for breakfast in the local restaurant underneath our 'hostel'. I think we've all learned by now that nothing starts the day like chicken and rice in the hottest sauce known to man; really opens up the sinuses you know! Today was our relaxed exploring day, while tommorow will be left for full on touristy crap/stuff. We took the MRT, which we already loved by now, and went down to the harbour front. Without a [View Full Entry]

Having checked the bus situation the day before we were in no rush to leave Kuala Lumpur. Checking out at 11.30 and slowly making our way to the Pudaraya bus station we sat down for a large breakfast before hopping onto one of the hourly buses to Melaka. We arrived after only a few hours on the bus and headed straight for the old town to find a hotel. In the afternoon we enjoyed our favorite pastime, wandering around. Feeling that Melaka didn't hold enough interest for two days of exploring we opted to leave for Singapore the next day. In [View Full Entry]

Melaka

We arose from exhaustive and well-needed sleep around midday and headed out into China Town. After using the interent we learned that Dale was flying into Kuala Lumpur the very same day. We mucnched another very tasty chicken and rice meal and then went in search of a triple room; the first time in the last eight weeks. The majority of the accomodation in Kuala Lumpur was either very pricy or a complete dump but in the end we opted to splash out a little more money and get a penthouse suite in a prime location just off the main hub [View Full Entry]

After a fairly late and drunken evening, we dragged ourselves out of bed at 8am, finished our final packing and started the hike to the pier. The boat journey was not one of our favourites but after almost 6 months, we were accustomed to travelling with a hangover. We arrived in Krabi at 10.30am and boarded a minibus for a town further south nearer the Malaysian border. As usual Me and Ollie were the tallest and were also crammed into the smallest seats at the back of the bus. However, after 6 months we had also learnt to perfect the art [View Full Entry]

The boat arrived in Surat Thani (the mainland) around 5.30am and the painkillers Mark had left from his foot injury had done the trick to relax us, however the rough seas meant sleep had not come easily! Bleary eyed, we were escorted from the harbour to a nearby travel agency and waited outside on the street until a car picked us up around 6.30am. This car prompty drove around the corner and dropped us at another travel agaents and we were finally picked up by a bus around 7.15am. The large bus had very few passengers and we were able to [View Full Entry]

Koh Tao - Koh Phi Phi

Asia » Thailand » South » Ko Tao
Although we really liked Koh Tao, we decided it was time to get moving as we only had 12 days before our flight left Singapore! We checked out of our lovely little hut just before 10am and headed for a relaxed day on the beach. After breakfast we spent the next few hours chatting, reading and generally just watching the world go by! As the day wore on we got hungry once again and headed into the main part of Koh Tao town to visit our favourite sandwich vendor! After picking up 2 very delicious and sticky tuna sandwiches we headed [View Full Entry]

Koh Tao day three

Asia » Thailand » South » Ko Tao
Today we decided that we had had enough of being lazy and sitting around so we decided to stroll to the south of the island to see what was happening in the other bay. We set off at around 11am and headed towards a restaurant to have breakfast. After switching from a concrete road to a gravel path and finally just piles of boulders to scramble over we regretted to decision to walk in Flip flops and to carry a shoulder bag, but we got over it and made our way from little cove to little cove, stopping for water and [View Full Entry]

Ko Tao - Day 2

Asia » Thailand » South » Ko Tao
We both woke up far too early with unexpected hangovers. (It later turned out that the beer was mcuh stronger than we were lead to believe!!!). Eventually we dragged ourseleves from our bed and headed for breakfast at the place we had stumbled upon the previous day! It was then that we made the decision to hire a kayak and attempt to paddle around the island or at least some of it! We stopped back at the room for sun cream and to finally use use Ollie's dry-bag. An item he had been carrying for over 5months but had now come [View Full Entry]
