Aftter chilling in Pushkar for one more day and saying good bye to the amazing hostel we spent the last night in, called the milkman, where the hostess told us the place was our home and we were free to do what we liked, including relaxing on the massive roof terrace and lazing about in hammocks, we set off from pushkar to head to jodhpur. The road was much the same as the others with plenty stops to miss cows and othere assorted obstructions. After hearing a loud pop and wondering what it was we finaly realisid it was the sound of a tyre puncture!! stopping in the middle of nowhere yielded plenty of people to come and watch us change a tyre, after this little side show we continued towards jodhpur, albeit slightly more carefully ... read more

After a good nights sleep and Ollie having a little sleepwalk to try and escape the hotel but being thwarted by Mark, we Had breakfast at the hotel and indulged in the local 'no egg' omelette we spent a few hours on the roof terrace playing cards and then headed out to climb a nearby mountain. Nearby was actually far away and a good hour and a half brought us to a temple at the peak of the mountain. The view from here was astounding as you may see by the pictures when we can get them up. The knee high steps took their toll however so we stayed up at the top to play with the local monkeys, who were decidedly not in the mood! Coming back into town after the hike back from the ... read more

After seeing all that Jaipur had to offer we headed west towards Pushkar. On the road, hoping our driver wasn't going to keel over from the bad 'tea' he had the night before, we started to see more of rural india. Including camels, the local brick factories and the strangely massive piles of dried shit. Pushkar was roughly a 3 hour drive from Jaipur with the final 20 km along a tiny dirt track. Arriving in Pushkar we were dropped near the edge of town and told to walk because cars were not allowed, Ignoring Dales directions we headed off in the right way. Pushkar is a tiny little town surrounding a lake said to have been made when Krishna dropped a lotus flower. The mountainous area gives great views and town feels welcoming. After dropping ... read more

Today started with a tour of Jaipur, consisting of the Amber Fort, The old city of Jaipur, the tower and the astronomy/observatory centre. The old city was very good and very pink, given its name is the pink city! Lots of small alleyways mix with a huge long road through the centre. The tower in the centre of the old city provided an amazing view and it is the tallest point there. WE then drove past the city palace and the home of the Rajasthani royal family. Next stop was the astronomy/astrology/observatory?? place featuring the worlds largest sundial and many other instruments for telling the time, the lat/long of the sun/moon the twelve signs of the zodiac and their fortunes and another sundial which had an accuracy of within 2 seconds, although it was only working ... read more

Taj Mahal baby!!! Chai to start off with, leaving delhi was a nightmare, took hours to clear the traffic! Delhi to agra hoighway was chocka with cars leaving our driver to do some fancy manouvers. Lunch was at a halfway house and was another decent thali. Agra was much the same as delhi and we stayed at the Shanti Lodge with a view of the Taj Mahal. As soon as we arrived we headed out to see the Taj AMahal and were awed by its beauty, truly amazing sight. I dont have the words to tell you how awesome it is! Nuff said. Dinner was served on the roof of the lodge with a view of the taj behind us! Great day!! Excuse the spelling mistakes!!... read more

As the plane touched down on a foggy morning on the Indira gandhi Runway we thought to ourselves i think the free gin was good value. Little did we know that India awaited!! After the inevitibl wait for our bags and the fun of immigration....can you spell strip search...we got to our car! delhi is further than you might think from its own international airport! Foresight from the shand meant a car was ready and waiting to take us to an unknown hostel in an unknown city. Arrival at the hostel meant a little walk through the main bazaar in the early hours of the morning, dodging the cows, dogs and excrement, not forgetting the shopkeepers! The hostel was surprisingly clean and civilised considering the mayhem that was underway outside the glass doors! after making our ... read more
