We had to make a stop in Valley City for new differential oil and sealant as its leaking. We made it from Tower City to Miles City Montana and have camped on the Rosebud River for $12.00. There are lots of trains passing by here which makes for difficult sleeping. Kayleigh had a dream about lots of rattlesnakes, and woke up scared in the middle of the night. Mom has found more petrified wood here. She has a really good rock hound eye. We ate German venison sausage, beans and bacon/garlic baked potatoes last night. Good stuff. The mosquitoes were a [View Full Entry]

Our Campsite in Forsyth

We have made it to Tower City, North Dakota, about 50 miles west of Fargo/Moorhead. We are about an hour ahead of schedule. We stopped to look for camping and saw a seedy motel with a camping sign and went to the city park instead to get our bearings and cook. A couple from the house acrossed the street told us we could camp here for free. there are flush toilets, running pump water and a great lawn with a nice pavillion and a park for the kids to play in. The temp in MN and here wasn't that bad, about [View Full Entry]

Mom and Jake
Breanna

Wow, it has really been a long time since I updated this. We went to Ontario for the first ten days of June, myself, Kayleigh, Breanna, Lisa (my sister) and her husband Ryan, mom and our friend Betty Seabright. We had a great trip up along the North Shore of Lake Superior using walkie talkies. We had Smokey Bear (lisa's truck had a smokey sticker), Care Bear, and Momma Bear. It was a blast. It makes the long trip a lot easier, especially when you are driving with just the kids in the car with you, you get to talk to [View Full Entry]

Decorating Rocks
Mama Bear
Kayleighs Smallmouth Bass

Good Morning everyone! We drove through the Columbia River Gorge and on to Idaho after leaving Portland. We decided to head north to Shoshone to visit the Shoshone ice caves. It is a cave inside an ancient lava tube that we climbed down into. There were bones of ice age bears that had been stuck inside the cave and couldn't get out. It was a pretty neat tourist trap. The girls got some polished rocks and some collector spoons. We then headed over to Craters of the Moon National Park. That is an interesting landscape to say the least. It is [View Full Entry]

Hello out there... I would have done this sooner, but my laptop power connection crapped out on me... ugh. So, when we are in Cheyenne I am sending it out to be serviced from the UPS store. We are visiting Jake's Aunt Nora and Uncle Mark. They have a son, Eric, who is six, so the girls are having a ball. We are staying the night at their house tonight. So, our trip started out slowly because Jake had forgotten to have our spare tire changed to the new size that we got put on. So, we drove up the highway [View Full Entry]

Hello out there, We woke to rain and gloomy skies but now at ten am the sky has opened to allow the sun to shine through. Today is a day of laundry, repacking, making grocery lists, cleaning up our messes and various articles/possessions from throughout the house, cleaning handprints off the windows and filling holes Dot dug in the yard. Tonight we are having a "weenie roast" out in the yard and some smores. A farewell bbq. Today is full of lots of things that need to get done and so I won't say too much here. The girls get out [View Full Entry]

Hey everyone, Lisa, Jake, the kids and I have been staying at our dental hygeniest's house. She so graciously allowed us to stay here in her wonderfully big pyramid house. Her view is spectacular! There are about ten horses that graze around her property and we can go through the pasture to the beach below. Her property rests at the edge of the bluff overlooking Kachemak Bay and the Kenai Mountains. She is such as sweetheart of a lady and we are all so grateful to have become friends with her. There are pictures attached of our days here so far. [View Full Entry]

Hello all I just returned from my last deaf social. I am excited to start my third semester of ASL when I return home in the fall. I really enjoy being a part of the deaf community and the longer I am involved the better my signing skills get! I really hope to one day get to interpretor level. Well, last I have heard there were 250 acres of land burning on East End Road in Homer. I really hope that they could get control over it. There are some pictures of our sunset against the hazy sky from the smoke. [View Full Entry]

Okay, this solidifies the travel plans a bit more. Lisa will be flying in on May 1st to help me and Jake sell all our worldly possessions and move to storage in Eagle River area so that we can leave Homer by the 16th. My mom's ticket was bought for August 5 to fly home to Minneapolis, this is plenty of time to mosey through BC and the Yukon and back to Homer to check out the Kenai Peninsula and fly home. Jakes tickets are purchased, but his return flight doesn't leave until Sat. July 23rd now which gives us an [View Full Entry]
