Big Boot
Cheyenne, WY museum Wow, it has really been a long time since I updated this. We went to Ontario for the first ten days of June, myself, Kayleigh, Breanna, Lisa (my sister) and her husband Ryan, mom and our friend Betty Seabright.
We had a great trip up along the North Shore of Lake Superior using walkie talkies. We had Smokey Bear (lisa's truck had a smokey sticker), Care Bear, and Momma Bear. It was a blast. It makes the long trip a lot easier, especially when you are driving with just the kids in the car with you, you get to talk to the other adults. Ha Ha.
We had to work hard to catch our fish, since we were getting there before bass spawning and during Northern spawning. We had little northerns and decent sized small mouth bass. We caught bass, walleye, northerns, perch and suckers. We had half sunny weather and half rainy weather. There was a sow and two cubs that were hanging out about a 1/2 mile north of camp. I saw her on the road and took pictures of her, she ended up stomping and huffing at me because I was overstaying my welcome. I saw

Breanna at camp in Ontario 83 Canadian Geese at the "logging camp". We had a pretty rolly polly bear hanging out by the sandy beach towards our fishing culvert and some young yearlings that must have just been run off this year. Breanna and I saw a really nice sized moose north of the swamp on our way to camp. He had a gigantic rack and was really dark with long long legs.
After that I headed back to Jakes family's farm in Mondovi, south of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I worked in the fields raking hay with the tractor. I had never drove a tractor before so it was fun, and I got a great tan. Jake raked without a shirt on and got really really burnt.
We went to my cousins graduation party for his bachelors of arts over in Royalton, MN. My aunt has this great garden and they have added on and remodeled their house more since I was there last, about 8-12 years ago. They have paintings right on their walls, which is exactly what I have always wanted in my own house. Their granddaughters room is adorable!
We also went to a party at our old bar
Mama Bear
1/2 mile from camp, the sow that stomped at me "Log Gables". Its the old biker bar we all grew up in North of Webster, that has been closed for 8 years now. My friends rent out the owners house for $1 a month and they were trying to raise the money to pay the back taxes on the property. Bob the owner now lives in California. I expected to see more people than I did, but it was alright.
We went camping in Minong with Jake's family last weekend. We had a great day of sunshine the first day and Kayleigh and I picked a whole bunch of ripe June berries. They are my favorite but they don't grow up in Alaska where we are at and they don't seem to grow around Mondovi, at least I haven't seen them yet. We didn't catch a whole lot of fish, and we went over to Riverside to have a picnic with my family. Gramma Judee and Mom and Pete came over. We stopped at Gpas so he could meet everyone. He didn't feel very good and didn't come to the picnic.
The night before the picnic we had rain and had put everything under tarps. While we were
in our tent I started feeling rain on me and we realized the the rain flap was almost useless because rain was being blown in and coming down from the top screen. A few minutes later our tent door and wall was being pushed in on us in the wind and water was pouring right through the material. Jake and I were both holding it up. I decided that maybe this storm was getting out of hand and we started getting all our gear and clothes together. The girls had theirs everywhere. While we were organizing our gear to take into the truck and getting the girls awake, the side of the tent caved in, so Jake was holding the tent up by standing in the corner as I tried to get kayleigh and breanna in their rainjackets. As this was going on our neighbor in the campground came to tell us there was a tornado on the ground in Minong.
After we were in our trucks the police came to get us to go to the bathrooms for shelter. But the worst of the storm had passed already. We had soaking wet clothes, shoes and sleeping bags but
eventually went back in the tent to sleep. So after the picnic we decided that breaking camp would be the best thing because we were tired of being cold and wet. So we broke camp and came home.
The next day we spent on the Mississippi River at Wabasha MN. We didn't catch much, I caught one nice sunfish and a bass that was too small. We headed home after stopping in Nelson WI for an ice cream cone, $1 per scoop!
Now it is the fourth of July weekend and we are all here except the girls. They went with Gma Judee to spend time with Josh's family at their cabin in Minnesota. They wont be back until the 10th of July. We will probably leave Wisconsin on July 15th instead. We are only really stopping at some National Monuments and Parks and then heading west without much spending money other than gas as money is short. There are lots of pictures to add in because its been so long since I updated this, so there might be more added later.
