Met super people, Capt Paul, Airforce, and wife Janet while in NJ. Then we headed to Maine , "Boondocked" at LLBean in Freeport Maine. Did some shopping. Then off to the Acadia National Forest. Bar Harbor had lobster pounds along side the road where you could steam lobster at a picnic table. Bar Harbor, where the New England rich folks hang out, is a unique seaport. Wish we could whale watch but the weather was rainy and rough, and we had Princess with us. Scoped out Stephen King's home in Bangor, Maine. Liked the gargoyle-iron grate fence. Heading to Boston for [View Full Entry]

We left our rig in Hershey, PA and headed to Boston to meet Kathy and Megan. Of course, Princess went with us and we stayed in pet-friendly hotels. Boston Childrens was in the heart of Boston. The trip there took us through Manhattan the day the Pope spoke in Yankee stadium. How do you say "traffic gridlock!" Made it to Boston only to learn the Boston Marathon was taking place. Our GPS had PMS and said "find the place on your own!" (too many tunnels for her.) Well all was well. Megan was a real trooper; as was Kathy. Megan and [View Full Entry]

Gunsmoke Texas. It's in the south-central part of the state. Went to a cattle auction and then to the Bluebell ice cream factory for a tour, and ice cream of course. Sunday at Gunsmoke the real cowboys and girls came out to practice their gun skills. Headed South to Corpus Christi. It's cold in Texas this winter. High in the 60's and low in the 40's. This travelin' is still fun! [View Full Entry]

Nothing to break the North wind blowing through Texas but tumbleweed. The weather here is cooler than last winter in Florida but the excitement of visiting friends and family makes up for it. Visited with Mike and Donna in Dallas. Somehow left without a picture. Bummer. Spent Christmas with childhood best friend Nancy and her husband Ron and family in Houston. One of our best holidays! We took time to visit NASA-Houston. New Year's Eve we visited Lucy (first upright humanoid) at Houston's Natural History Museum. Made our bones feel down right young! We're headed to cowboy country, Gu [View Full Entry]

Finally I get to see Tom's birthplace. Now I know why he was so quiet about it. Definitely middleclass. Beautiful neighborhood, unchanged in 40 years, overlooks the Ohio River. Spent evenings watching High School Football. Tom was nostalgic over his H.S. quarterback days. Says he didn't have the cheerleaders chasing after him. Yeh, right. Onto Elvis' birthplace in Tupelo, MS. Found someone who grew up poorer than me. Capped the summer off by visiting the Shiloh, Tn and Vicksburg, MS battlefields. The more Civil War history we learn, the curiousor we get. Off to Texas from here! Hav [View Full Entry]

Most of you know Karen is afraid of heights. So traveling the Mackinaw suspension bridge from Michigan to the Upper Peninsula was a courage builder for her. High winds, 20 miles/hour maximum speed for RV's, with blinkers going. Oh Sweet Jesus thank you for getting us over it. Then on to Minnesota where we stayed at a beautiful little campground in Spring Grove. Founded by the Vikings in 1850. Corn fields for hundreds of miles. On to Winnebago factory in Iowa this week. We had sad news from Reiny of his sister's passing. Otherwise, life has been good for us. [View Full Entry]

We left Wash D.C. and headed West to Indiana for a quick visit with Tom's daughter Kathy and our 2 grand daughters. Since you all ask, we can say our little miracle child Megan, and her sister Taylor are doing great. Then off to the Adirondacks where we had no cell phone because Tom lost it in a 2 hour tubing trip that took 5 hours. The water wasn't moving, the sun went down and I got shaky cold. Tom said "save Karen or save the phone?" mmmmmmm. So I dried out and we headed to the St. Lawrence Seaway. Spent [View Full Entry]

We flew grandon James into D.C. and spent the week determined to show no weakness. We took the subway daily and walked nearly 8 miles every day to show him D.C. He loved China Town and we had a tour of the Capitol arranged by our congressman (as Florida residents.) The Suprene Court tour was informative. The National Cathedral was awesome. James finally concluded that D.C. is bigger than Akron, OH! [View Full Entry]

We visited Jamestown, Va during their 400 year celebration and on to Yorktown where we emersed ourselves in the history eeking from every corner of the town. We have a real sense of what sacrifices were made to create this great country! [View Full Entry]
