Entering Ohio we stopped at Wilmington, Ohio Thousand Trails on our way to Akron, OH for grandson James' high school graduation. What a treat to meet up with Bruce and Kathy, new friends and new full-time RVers. We had introduced them to pickleball while in South Carolina. They were so excited about life and so excited about each other. What a treat, friends Ted and Karen were also in Wilmington for a couple of days. Cincinnati is their home town. Sadly, they had just lost their 17-year old shepherd Scooter the week before. Great News>>>>Ted taught me how to make pizza [View Full Entry]

After traveling in rain for several days we stopped in South Carolina for a quick fix with family. Sherri, John and granddaughter Sarah welcomed us. We watched 8-1/2 year old Sarah do swimming lessons at the McLeod Hospital Fitness Center. Then strawberry pickin'. Finale of the day was grilling outside of deer burgers and deer sausage shot by their friend Bubba! Of course we can't leave out the entertainment. Sarah did Wii-guitar and even found music we enjoyed! Heading to Ohio now. [View Full Entry]

Our close knit family of Winter Texans has started migrating North. We headed to the Hill Country near San Antonio. Although the landscape was painted with blooming Blue Bonnets, a five-day rain made us decide to move towards Dallas. But not before visiting San Antonio. We went to the IMAX (A Fight For Freedom, story of the Alamo) across from the Alamo and lunched at the River Walk. At Lake Whitney we had great Pickleball with more friendly folks. After many days of stalking them, I finally got a picture of the Road Runners! Beep-beep. In Dallas, we had an absolutely [View Full Entry]

(double click on pictures to enlarge) Our visit to the Rio Grande Valley has been rich in the Mexican and Spanish heritage of the people. Our trip to Mexico gave us a better understanding of the Border Patrol. That is because Tom was detained for 1-1/2 hours! He had a nuclear stress test 4 days before and apparently was still HOT! I could have told the Feds that. Yes, he set off the nuclear radiation monitors. So after the isotope was identified and reported to Wash DC (no exaggeration) he was given clearance to re-enter the U.S. Do we think the [View Full Entry]

On our way towards the TEXAS/MEXICO border we stopped to camp on the beach at Port Aransas. We enjoyed a beautiful, wide, white beach. We could watch freighters come in and go out, with dolphins playing in their wake. For January what could be better? [View Full Entry]

So happy to have moved out of the expensive New England area this summer, we headed to New Orleans! On the way Tom injured his shoulder (rotator cuff) playing pickle ball. So he learned to play left-handed. While in NC, I sprained my back. Found a great doctor in Conroe, TX and am now back to my "old self." We've met up with friends from last winter in several Thousand Trails campground. Having fun. Tom had a dental emergency on Christmas Eve. Everything's fine now. Hey! Life is an adventure and not boring! [View Full Entry]

Thanks to supreme surgeons and everyones' prayers, our 6 year-old Megan came through her recovery in record breaking time. We anticipated a 3 week recovery in Boston. No way! Megan could blow bubbles better than before her surgery. Her back is straight and lungs have room to grow. She will return for back adjustment surgery periodically until she's done growing . Right now, she just wants to go swimming! Olympics watch out! The family went home to Indiana, Aunt Sherri to So Carolina and Uncle Mike to Dallas. We will do the tourist thing now in Boston and then head to [View Full Entry]

Megan and family members met in Boston. Megan loved the swimming pool at the hotel. Daddy ate raw oysters at the Salty Dog in Boston to amuse her. We walked around the Haymarket where there were street jugglers and musicians. "Build a Bear" was a winner that Aunt Sherri found. took the subway. Adventures! Surgery was tough on all. June 18, Megan is out of ICU and smiled. Tomorrow chest tube comes out. Doctor says Megan is recuperating fantastically, one day at a time. All are afraid to cry too much. Thanks for prayers. More bright days ahead. [View Full Entry]

Met super people, Capt Paul, Airforce, and wife Janet while in NJ. Then we headed to Maine , "Boondocked" at LLBean in Freeport Maine. Did some shopping. Then off to the Acadia National Forest. Bar Harbor had lobster pounds along side the road where you could steam lobster at a picnic table. Bar Harbor, where the New England rich folks hang out, is a unique seaport. Wish we could whale watch but the weather was rainy and rough, and we had Princess with us. Scoped out Stephen King's home in Bangor, Maine. Liked the gargoyle-iron grate fence.
