MegsTravelQuest - Meghan

Meghan Enough talk about travel.. I'm finally actually doing it! The time has come to take a little working/school hiatus over the next 6 months to go explore some different parts of the world. This adventure began with the idea to volunteer in Nepal, but has grown to a multi-continential trip that will boast so many wonderful memories. The goal: to meet new people, learn about different cultures, visit some of the worlds historical hot-spots and possibly dabble in some of the festivities (and local beverages) that make these countries so wonderful! Sangria in Spain anyone?

I'm going to use this site for all my family and friends to stay up-to-date on my whereabouts. I'll try to update this as much as possible with pictures and details of all my crazy adventures!

I'm slacking on the updates, I know. That's what happens when you get to Thailand and experience the beaches. I've been busy, what can I say... tan tan, flip, oil tan tan flip, oil tan tan... you get the picture. Leaving Nepal was harder than I thought, saying goodbye to all of my friends there, the staff at Himilayan Encounters and the kids at the Children's Home. My thoughts as I was flying out of the Kathmandu Valley, my stare glued to the massive Himilayas, was that I would definitely be back! Nepal really touched me and I would do it [View Full Entry]

Hello again! I’ve been in Pokhara now for just over a week and things are going good - it’s not my little gravel road, mud hut filled village in Chitwan, but it’s pretty amazing waking up to views of the Annapurnas every morning. I was met at the Himalayan Encounters office by the other volunteers, Claire and Dale, which I left at the start of my placement. GVI (Global Vision International, the organization I’m volunteering with) is partnered with them, as they have no real office here in Nepal, so it’s basically the Nepali trekking and rafting guides that [View Full Entry]

Namaste! I'm finally getting a chance to update the old blog again. I do think about it, about how much you guys are pacing around back home barely being able to go on with your days, but I’m a busy girl, what can I say? My days in Chitwan have officially come to an end. Tomorrow morning I am on the 5+ hour bus journey (provided there are no Maoist road checks or attacks or anything) to Pokhara to start my trek in the Annapurna mountain range. I’m sad to be leaving everyone I have met here. I’ve become so attached [View Full Entry]

Namaste everyone! Okay, after a few hours wrestling with this computer, I've added some more pictures to my Nepal blog entry from last week. I know some people were having trouble viewing that one because you didn't get the normal email notification, but if you open up this email, you should see all of the entries I have posted so far including the one titled "The First Weeks in Nepal... What a Wonderful Country!". If you click on "read full story" you should be able to read everything. Send me an email if you're not getting it. As usual, I am [View Full Entry]

Hi Guys - I've just updated my blog from Nepal.. it's a long one, but only 4 pictures right now. Uploading them made my computer crash so I couldn't do anymore, but there will be more to some.. promise. Also, I don't think you got the email update about that entry so that's why I'm sending this. Hope you enjoy! Meghan [View Full Entry]

Oh gosh, where to begin - it’s like a whole other world over here. I’ve been in Nepal for 2 weeks almost and am still getting used to the culture. I have so much to tell you all - this country is amazing! I guess I should probably start with the details of my arrival in Nepal - what a disaster! After saying a teary goodbye to mom and Kirbi in Frankfurt, I was getting pretty excited to start the next part of my journey, alone, in Nepal. I arrived in Bangkok around 6:30 am on October 1st after a long [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone! This is an update from the Greek part of our excursion. Greece is wonderful... well parts of it I guess I should say. We are spending our last night together, us three girls.. sob sob... on the wonderful island of Crete (Krete... pronounced Kreta with a wonderful Cretian accent of course). It honestly is our favorite place so far, probably because we picked the most beautiful beach in the world to stay at... I'll get to that later because our Greek adventure did not start on Crete. No no... it started in the "lovely" city of Athens. Oh, Athens... [View Full Entry]

I'm going to try to retrace the past 2 weeks as best I can, but our Italian Getaway was jampacked with so many sights, cities and bottles of Chianti and Sangiovase wines, it may be difficult to get it all straight. This might be a good opportunity for you to grab a drink yourself or take a washroom break because... she's a long one... First of all, I want to apologize for my lack of "blogging" or whatever those people who created these things are calling it - Kirbi and mom have been running a tight ship and in fear of [View Full Entry]

Hello to all again... sorry about the delay this time. Our time in Germany with our family was busy and there was not a lot of time to be spend updating this silly blog (which by the way, I love getting your comments.. I hope you all are enjoying the adventures!!). So we start in the Frankfurt International Airport, the same day that 3 conspicuous terrorists were caught trying to blow the darn thing up (we of course had already vacated the scene and didnt hear about this until the next morning). Moving along... Andreas, moms cousin, greeted me at the [View Full Entry]

Well I´m sad to say that Spain is coming to and end... it is our last day here in Valencia, the third largest city in Spain, known for it´s oranges and for being the creator of Paella. We´re just packing up everything, trying to put on as many clothes as possible, in preparation for our ¨wonderful¨Ryan Air flight this evening. For those of you who don´t know, Ryan Air is a budget airline here in Europe, known for insanely cheap flights - our flight cost 0.01 euros, before tacking on about 25 euros in fees.. still not bad for a flight [View Full Entry]
