Gday again everyone After the best shower we both have had since we have been here we decided we would go to Blackpool for the day. What a brilliant day it was too. Though for the most part the attractions were closed we had a look at the South Pier and then while we were walking to the Central Pier we hailed a horse and buggy and took that for a ride. A really nice ride... Central Pier had a few of their rides going and we went for a quiet ride of the large Ferris Wheel. I won Jules a Stuffed Tiger on the darts. We then went on to Madame Toussad's Great Grandson's Louis Toussad's Wax Works In the late 1890's Louis got a bit jack of the way they were running Madame Toussad's ... read more

We were up early again today and all packed before breakfast. We are going to spend the morning doing some washing before going on the 2 hour aqueduct canal tour. We finished the washing a bit earlier, the machines were better than in Hythe, so we went for a walk around the local market. Mark bought a tin of "anti-freeze" for the windscreen. I thought a plastic scraper like everyone else has, but Mr Tech wasn't going to go for the "old fashioned way".... LOL We'll see what it's like in the morning. We had a great time on the aquaduct. It took us 2 hours to go 8 miles, but I could easily live on one and cruise up and down the country. We went across the Pontcysllte Aquaduct which is the United Kingdom's tallest ... read more

Today we headed of for Llangollen (pronounced clangoclen - or thereabouts!!) Once again the Navgirl decided to give Mark's driving a test. We went on a few small roads instead of the major highways. You see with the SatNav you can choose to go to a place the fastest or the shortest... I know what you're saying... that would be about the same thing wouldn't it?... well no it isn't.... the fastest was going to be somewhere around 200 miles of traveling.... the shortest was 130 miles... which way I here you say??.... well the shortest of course.... BAD MOVE!! I think this time we actually hit some Z roads... they even had grass growing in the middle of them!! LOL.... A quick re programing of Navgirl and we headed for some of the bigger A ... read more

Hiya All We decided to stay a second night at the Savoy Country Inn and do a day trip to all the places in the area instead of packing up. It's such a nice little pub and the meals are great and also the Managers are really nice too. We had a cooked breakfast again this morning, and Mark tried the Black Pudding. He wasn't really impressed with it. He said it was pretty plain really and didn't finish it. I didn't have any, I figured I'd had my fill as a kid when Dad made us have it for Christmas breakfast. We drove up to Cardigan, and because we told NavGirl to avoid the motorways she took us through all the small country roads. All the roads here are numbered. The main freeway type ones are ... read more

Gday all Well today we deicided to do a bit more travelling and drive to the south west Welsh coast After leaving Tintern we were driving towards Abergavenny and Julia noticed a castle ruin on our right. So being in no hurry we consulted our British Heritage Book and saw that we had free entry into Raglan Castle, a 15th century Castle the last castle to be built on Welsh soil. After a quick U Turn at one of about 80 roundabouts we went through today we stopped. What a fantastic place. You enter through one of the old gate houses and there is the moat and great gate This castle was the last castle to fall during the English Civil War. The place was so well built that when The Parliamentarians took it they had ... read more

Hiya Everyone Today we headed off nice and early from the hotel so we could get a bit of travelling done. We was all packed and breakfasted (is that a word?) by 7.30am and headed of to Stonehenge. We made better time than we thought, so hung around in the village of Amesbury for an hour until the rocks opened. What a lovely little village. The pub was opened in the 16th century, and all of the doors leading into the shops around the place were so low that I nearly had to duck to get through them! We went to the stones and had an audio tour around them. What a great place. The history is all speculation, they don't really know how they got there or what their purpose was but the amount of ... read more

Gday Everyone At the moment we are sitting in a hotel in Newbury, Berkshire having coffee after another delicious dinner. Where we left off we were on our way to catch a train to Dover. After a heated debate between our consciences we paid for First Class Seats on the train which was well worth it as we had plenty of leg room and a table to plan the next stage of our journey. We arrived at Dover at about 1.00pm and caught a taxi to pick up our hire car, which wasnt ready as we had it booked for 2.00pm. They did their best but they had to upgrade us to a brand new (62 miles on the clock) Vauxhaul Zafira Station Wagon. After a hectic first few days we decided to just stay at ... read more

Gday All Well today was another full day of touristing The morning was crisp and clear but the wind was a lazy wind.....it wouldnt go around you it went straight through. We decided to take a Big Bus Tour of London which is a double decker bus with the roof cut off, really good value for money if you know the tickets are valid for 2 days but we really enjoyed it, friendly staff and very helpful. Its a hop on hop off tour so our first stop was St Pauls Cathedral which was really astounding....We got a couple of photos of out front but you arent allowed to take pictures inside, understandable since its a working church..The carving and paintings were magnificent. We went down to the crypt and visited Nelsons Tomb and the Duke ... read more

Today we decided to visit Marks and Spencer to buy us both a warm coat! Very cold here today, about 5 C I think. We only got lost once or twice(Mark says we weren't lost, just going slightly in the wrong direction). We rode on the top floor of a red double decker bus which was fun. The public transport here is amazing, why people have cars in London is beyond me... you can get anywhere on the trains and if you can't you take the bus. We visited the Museum of Natural History and Victoria and Albert Museum. It's hard to imagine that these buildings were built before Australia was even thought of let alone discovered. Some of the things in there just blow you away. We've put some pictures on. Tomorrow we are doing ... read more

Hi Everyone So far so good.... we are having a great time! When it's time to leave Melbourne you have to walk through these big doors... it's like walking through a time portal... except it goes slooooowlyyyy not fast.... man that's a long trip... it took us 38 hours from the time we left Roesebery on Friday morning, till we arrived at Heathrow Airport in London.... then another hour to get through customs (very quick) and catch the Underground to the hotel. Eyes looking red and bleary and both very very tired. Love to all Jules & Mark... read more
