Gday all Well today was a relax day. We went and visited Jodi, John and the very cute Cooper George, our new great nephew. We arrived at about 11 am and Cooper had just got to sleep after a not so restful night so we were very restrained in our demands for cuddles but after about 90 mins Jodi could see Julia getting a bit antsy and with Cooper just beginning to wake after his sleep there was no controlling her, actually truth be told, I think John wanted to pick him up more. Very proud Dad...lol While we were there a friend, Meagan (forgive me if this isn't how its spelled) did the right thing and brought some supplies for John and Jodi and then John's sister Nitsi (again forgive me my spelling) came. So ... read more

Hiya everyone. Good decision to stay the night since there was lightning and thunder starting up as we headed in. The cabins we stayed at were old but ok. The bed was comfy so that's always a good thing! We decided that we wouldn't stay there another night so packed up and headed into town for a look around. Portland is considered "Victoria's Birthplace" because in 1834 Victoria's first permanent European settlement was established. We had a bit of a drive around town and then went to the station because the tram was starting at 10am. It's an hour trip around town and you can get off at stops on the way. The sun had come out and the rain stopped so that was good, but it was still a bit windy. We got off at ... read more

Gday All For a start let me apologise for the mixed up photos and missed descriptions from yesterdays entry. Secondly we would really like to wish Bev, our very good friend (who is dog sitting for us) a very happy Birthday and hope she had a great day. We had very poor reception in Port Campbell and though the caravan park did give us 3 hours free internet by the time all the photos were uploaded we didnt have much time left to edit them properly as it was I had about 20 seconds left on our limit to publish....lol The caravan park we stayed in last night is just being done up. We left Port Campbell and traveled towards Warrnambool and at one stage I didn't think we were ever going to get there. About ... read more

Gday All Well it was a chilly night in Lorne and the morning wasn't much better. After a quick breakfast we packed and headed off toward Apollo Bay. There had been a lot of small landslides and a lot of fallen rocks along the road in the last few days so I had to concentrate a bit more than usual but it is still a nice drive. The search continued for a kettle for our portable gas stove. We had been searching for one before we left Tassie even Kmart in Geelong didnt have one. Well we went to the local hardware and Op shop in Apollo Bay, no go there either so we thought a detour to Colac was called for. So we went back up the road to Skenes Creek and turned off to ... read more

Hiya everyone.. Well we had a lovely day today. The sun was shining this morning so we got up and went for a walk down the beach and to the bluff. Mark told me some stories about how they used to try race the waves to the jetty and end up wet.. don't mess with Mother Nature! We packed up the car and had a drive around Barwon Heads, checking out all the changes that have happened to the place in the last 20 years... progress darling! lol Then we went to visit one of Mark's old mates, Russell, before heading off. Russell and Mark used to spend a bit of time together working, and drinking, and building houses, and drinking, volunteer firemen, and drinking, and drinking,... and drinking.. lol. It's been nice to finally meet ... read more

Gday all Well after a rather restless night on the ferry we were woken up at about 5.40 by the announcement we would soon be in port and to get ready...ahhh we thought this is where being early for the line pays off... except the mob that were first on decided their time was much more important than anyone else's and held up the entire vehicle deck 5 for a good 10 minutes (I am sure if they were much longer quite a few people would of been happy to lynch them.) We finally got out and on to the West Gate Freeway to Geelong. We still needed a few supplies so we stopped at the Belmont KMart. Got what we needed and headed for the checkout and weren't we surprised they had self serve checkouts. ... read more

Day One We left home about 2pm Sunday for a nice relaxed drive to Devonport. Decided we better stop and wash Yolla off the Kia. After about an hour at the car wash we were ready so drove to the embarkation point for the ferry and we were still over an hour early....thankfully we had our books and imagination thinking up all the scenarios for the other people waiting. One lady got out of the car and took her rubbish to the bin and then about a minute later her bloke got out and took a couple of bits himself so we gathered that they had been traveling around Tassie for a couple of weeks and had just about had enough of each other and weren't speaking or feeling helpful to each other. At 5 ... read more

Gday all Well after our real first day of rest we went and visited Jules' uncles Cyril and Ralph and Gillian. We had a very nice dinner a drink and then back home again At about 1.00am while we were in bed we had an earthquake...and Auntie Ada it wasn't me falling out of bed as you first thought...LOL Apparently it was about a 4.4 strength and the epicentre was here in Hull. So we have had a couple of firsts here...the first time it snowed on us and the first time we were on the first floor of a building when an earthquake happened....cool huh? Well Wednesday is our last day in Hull so after packing and going to the post office to send a few things home (keep the weight down in our bags ... read more

Gday all Well it's getting close to the end of our holiday now. We leave Hull on Thursday morning our time and drive to London where we are staying at the Thistle Hotel at Heathrow Airport. So we thought we should actually go into Hull City Centre today to have a look around. We caught a bus in as apparently the parking is a bit hard in the city. The first place we stopped was the Tourist Information Bureau where a very helpful bloke pointed us in the right direction. Right across from there was the Maritime Museum which had some great displays on the whaling and fishing history of Hull. They built a lot of the world's whale boats here and they had a big fleet themselves. After a good look around we went to ... read more

Gday all We went to meet Jules' birth brother Steve and his family today. We spent a great few hours getting to know him and his family followed by a great dinner cooked by Steve. Jules had Stroganoff and I had a very nice curry. Not much else to report as by the time we got home it was pretty late. Love to all Mark and Julia ... read more
