You got it right...job, cars, and mansions do not define a person; family and friends do. I feel I know you better from this blog. However, I am still curious how you afford so much time and money to travel as much as you do. I had great jobs that allowed me to travel, but not constantly!
Thanks for your pictures of Brussels which brought back many memories. My life has been the reverse of yours. I grew up in Asia, living 18 years in Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia, but spent a majority of my working life in Europe, living 7 years in Germany and 11 years in Belgium. Our home was in Overijse, near Louvain-La-Neuve. But now I am retired in Colorado, but still take major trips once per year. I wish my daughter would decide where her wedding will be so that I can plan my 2012 trip.
this, by far, is one of my favorites among your most interesting blogs. Yours are very adventurous, romantic and action-packed (compared to my corny sober trips) but I love this blog because I feel I have come to know you better. You reflected on your life, and I could sense your happiness even by just looking back. Relationships mean a lot to me, as I have, like you, kept many of my friends from way back....... Any person who values that, ranks high in my list. And true, cars, big houses don\'t matter as much as Family and relationships do.
Unbelievable! you know me. I don\'t dive, would be too scared . But this visibility... Unbelievable! And wedged between Europe and North America plates! It sounds almost crazy. But really, your photos blew my mind.
We saw an interview with the PM of Iceland on CNN yesterday, he has started a huge tourist campaign to attract people to Iceland (maybe it\'ll do something about the empty airport?) - it involves the Icelandic people taking tourists into their homes. The PM is also offering his home and promises the people who stay with him pancakes, a very quirky campaign!
It looks cold there, amazing landscapes though! Hope you are all well
Happy Happy Happy! Oh, what a blessing! I am so happy for you, P.A., knowing how you longed to have your family complete. Your travels would be so much more exciting as you now plan for 4! Happy for you.
I have been following your blog for sometime. The amount of travel you do is amazing. I often wondered when you had time for work. But mostly I wondered about Tiffany. She had been out of your life for some time, and all of a sudden she was back in for your summer trip to the Western Hemisphere...without explanation. Now we have it, and can share your joy. Thanks for sharing!
How lovely! I think the best things in my life have been family - Robert and the four children and although I would like, now they are all sort of independent (sometimes I think they operate me by remote control though, still!) to travel and maybe visit Ali, if I don't my life won't be unfulfilled so I am so pleased you are reunited and I hope you will all be very happy!
I\'m so sorry you were disappointed with your stay in Santa Barbara! There are so many local secrets that really do make it a great place to travel. Next time you stop by check out some of the great hikes (Seven Falls is my favorite) or try camping at one of the awesome camping spots (El Refugio is right on the beach!). If you do decide to stay in a hotel I suggest The Sandman Inn (www.thesandmaninn.com) on State. Many hotels in Santa Barbara are horribly overpriced. The beaches really are pretty down by the Wharf but it can get a bit touristy. I definitely suggest letting a local show you around next time, there are some great areas in Santa Barbara and something for everyone to love.
Happy Birthday as well Thank you to make us dream all the time ... I enjoy reading and watching your photos in mornings on my terrace, with my breakfast ... :-)
I hope more to come .. the World tour is not over ....
Big kiss to both of you
Veronique who is going back to Switzerland end of October from Saigon :-))
This blog is just short of 10 years old. We have now move to South Africa.
Why South Africa? Simple, great wine, great food, great golf and even more amazing diving! I will for once continue to blog from time to time about home. After all, this is just my fourth continent after having grow up in Europe, lived in Asia for twenty years, and even spent a full year living the life of Buenos Aires.
Come to visit....there is so much to do here! ... full info
