After days of dreaming about lazing about on an island I finally arrive in Ilhe Grande, an island not far of the coast of Brazil. So after spending the past week with butterflies about coming to Brazil and arriving in Sao Paolo which is apparantly quite dangerous, I have arrived and have fallen in love with this place within 24 hours. I made the 20 hours on the bus back from Puerto Iguazu and rolled into Buenos Aires on a sunday with full intent on heading to the markets again, sunday is my favourite day here. I dump my bags, this time I have decided to stay in Palermo and check this area out more. After spending what seemed like an eternity on buses getting from Bariloche to Buenos Aires, also getting left behind at one town and having to catch up with the bus in the following town by catching a taxi, then getting another 20 hour bus to the north I arrived in the small town of Puerto Iguazu. Felt like I was in an entirely different country and was hard to believe that this was still Argentina as Puerto Iguazu is tropícal and with warm weather finally after freezing to death down south. The point of me being in southern Chile was in fact to catch a boat for 4 days heading north up through the fjords. The name of the vessel is Navimag and it is actually a cargo ship which they also use these days as a mode of transport for travellers. On the Thursday night we have to check ourselves in and then board the ship as the boat leaves early on the friday. After a couple of great days in Ushuaia I had to make the hard decision to get back on a bus again, this time heading into Chile to try my luck again with mother nature and try to get to the infamous Torres Del Paine National Park. After only just catching the bus after being told to go to a different location and managing to get a seat as I had not booked a ticket I was off towards Chile. So after a coupla of good days hanging out in El Calafate it was time to head south to Ushuaia, the most southern city in the world. Another long bus ride took us to the border of Chile, you have to go into Chile for about 4 hours and return to Argentina, during that time we also had to take a ferry onto the island of Tierra del Fuego where Ushuaia is situated. On a bus heading south, we´re not talking just a little bus ride, but one that involves 26 hours on the same damned bus. Luckily Argentina possess some of the nicest buses on the earth so it makes travelling a little more pleasant. We leave El Bolson and arrive in Rio Gallegos 26 hours later and too late at night to catch a connecting bus, so that night is spent in a family run hostel where I find myself cooking in the kitchen surrounded by Argentinian and I had to laugh at where the hell I was. So after a week of bum massages and sitting around the hostel in Bariloche hanging out in the warmth, the weather had changed by now and the wind was up and rain was coming more often I decided it was time to leave.
