Travel Blog Posts

Well i suppose it is time to write my last blog (a month late- nothings changed)...can't say it will be the last ever blog- i may bore you again with the adventures of my life. My first week back was exciting to say the least, arrived back on Thursday night where my dad came to pick me up (on time) and we travelled back to sunny Leicestershire. The next morning i went to see the ponies, Dom firmly let me know that i had abandoned her for 3 months (in the hands of a very lovely friend) and decided she didn't want to speak to me- well that was until i went to see Mia then obviously Dom wanted all the attention (Nothing had changed- got to love the pony). By Sunday evening Dom was raiding ... read more

Now i am not sure if its because of the hundreds of noisy children (school trip on a tuesday??- at least 3 different sets of children) or the general fact it was an aquarium but it just was not the same as being in the water scuba diving...still a nice trip for an hour or two to keep my mind and camera busy lol. Then spoilt myself with dim sum and a fresh fruit smoothie drink (kiwi, pineapple and lime- yummy!) Now...i have to let you in on some minor amusement...its probably one of those times where its not funny unless your here but to get to the rooms in the hostel you have to get through this door (dum de dummmm)...well to get through it you have to pass your key card over this pad ... read more

After taking an hour to book the ticket at the airport- there was a very slow moving small queue, i managed to book a ticket to Bangkok. Had a great time last wednesday night out- was very busy- reminded me of freshers week...opposite time of year here though, they have all just broken up now and had there last exams so were out celebrating. Fun times! Recognised quite a lot of the music and then had moments when i thought i really should know the song but just didn't have a clue what it was lol. My thoughts on Singapore is that i don't think its a fine city as much as people make it out to be...i think it just makes the threats more visible than in other countries, there were many things that were ... read more

Even though its too warm to be xmas, seeing all the lights (it is a city of lights) and hearing christmas (sorry to everyone at work for swearing) songs i can officially say i feel a bit christmas-y( how many times can i say xmas in one sentence lol)... We exploring xmas decorations last night, the theme here in Singapore is a sweet xmas with candies...yum yum- still not lost my sweet tooth out here but trying to behave lol... We are going out tonight as its Ladies night so ladies get in free so i get to wear my new dress and sandals, before that off to the airport to see if i can fly to Bangkok, the news says international flights are starting tomorrow so we will see. Still hoping to get to Bangkok ... read more

Singapore has been treating me kindly with the weather (well apart from at the moment when its raining but i can't complain as i am inside)...We have been to visit China Town and Little India on our wanderings aroudn the city...i am amused by the tourism here as it reminds me of places that parents take there kids to and school visits when i was younger...really bizarre feeling but quite nice being back to reality and also lots of lovely food. Now just got a lovely decision of how to get back to Bangkok, i think i am going to try to head back to Phuket on thurs to sat then get the overnight bus up to Bangkok...hopefully :)...i will keep you all updated and i am sure the news will too :) Speak soon, i ... read more

Well...what a mission it was to get out of Phuket! Now i wrongly assumed that if the airport was open the flight would be all fine...well when i arrived it just said to go to check in desk but then about 5minutes later some guys came along and said to the person infront of me that the flight was cancelled. At first i didn't believe them, this couldn't happen but then i heard that they had a text last night saying the flight was cancelled, god knows why i didn't but AirAsia said that the planes they were using were stuck in Bangkok- supposedly, makes sense in a way but was still not helpful. They kindly refunded me the whole amount (Apart from travel agent fees which i couldn't really complain about)...next mission- to try and ... read more

I think that Phi Phi is in a world of its own, Thailand may be in a state of emergency- so the news said but well its everyday life here and if it wasn't for my dad ringing me yesterday i doubt i would have known about Bangkok...its similar to the economic crisis that is hitting the world...apart from Thailand- well this is unless the airports don't open then there will be a huge crisis. Back to life on Phi Phi, we walked again to Long Beach yesterday and had breakfast plus an iced coffee (i really am getting into this coffee business while travelling)...then sun bathed...well i sort of did, i made a turtle sun castle and 2 fish...not very impressive and i was put to shame completely when we were walking back along the ... read more

Wowsa... The trip was fab, did 7 dives and they all went so quickly. The 5 dives we did for the course were the Navigational, deep, fish ID, multi-level and buoyancy. My life is nearly complete with seeing (i think) 3 Manta Rays, definately more than 2 that were gliding about where we were swimming...they are huge, the span is about 2.5m we think but move about so freely without a care in the world. Also saw a leopard shark, i set walter the task of finding me a shark- everyone that dives on Phi Phi sees a shark but i did 6 dives and still had not seen one. On my 8th dive where the Manta Rays were, i saw my first shark, only a leopard shark but still happy regardless. Never did see my ... read more

Yayy! We have enough people and i am off tonight to live on the boat...really excited, should be fun and challenging at the same time, 7 dives- i think one will be a night dive, one 30m and one navigational, think i will also choose a buoyancy dive as then i can go exploring through the caves...maybe the photography dive...dunno(the dives we cant do is drift diving, boat diving is pointless as all on a boat, the drysuit (wrong weather) and also altitude and ice diving or something like that- wrong locations lol!) and hopefully get to see some sharks- whale sharks, reef and black tip- whenever i don't go out they see sharks at the moment so i don't have high hopes and also some Mantarays (not sure on spelling)...fingers crossed. Dre and myself wandered ... read more

Last night we went to Hippies bar and watched the fire show and celebrations of the half moon party. Fire show was pretty impressive again. Had quite an early night yesterday, not many of us out. I decided when i got back to my room to get my ipod out the safe to listen to it before i went to sleep- bad idea!...i put the key in and turned the right and then the key was jammed in and the door wouldn't open. Well after a few huffs and puffs, some Czech people come up and try to help me...to no success then a guy from denmark- to no success and i eventually give up and say that they may as well go to bed (reception doesn't open till 8am)...i went to get my book and ... read more
