Well sticking to plans has never been one of my fortes and while travelling i have not changed much...still have not managed to get up to this temple on top of the hill which i have been planning to see since i arrived here in Luang Prabang...and i am leaving tomorrow morning having still not visited it. Not that i would change what i have done,I had a lovely day today back on the river (i know...you would think i would be bored of it)...the guy from the hostel and 2 of his friends were looking for a village to explore [View Full Entry]

Minor change of plan today... the owner of the hostel had arranged to go to Khuangsi Waterfalls so after cornflakes with banana...coffee...and peanut butter on baguette i had quite a buzz of energy so thought why not... There was a group of about 15 of us, including 3 girls who are staying here who also stayed at the same place as i did in Bangkok and 1 guy who i stayed with at Spicy Thai and then the other 11 were on the same boat trip as me from Chang Khong for the last 2 days...they had met the 3 british [View Full Entry]

I made it! Asia » Laos » West » Luang Prabang
Well i made a huge blog...and then i lost internet connection so lost it all so once again i will start again. Finally made the long journey from Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang. i first had a minibus adventure through Northern Thailand to Chang Khong ...suprisingly, the world being small and all there were 2 people from Nottingham also on the Minibus (very loud i have to admit...), We arrived at Chang Khong to a guesthouse which was acceptable- rather dingy but ok...the ticket included dinner, breakfast and lunch and the trip so can't complain too much...it was also my first time [View Full Entry]

Bye for now... Asia » Thailand » North-West Thailand » Chiang Mai
Well after over a month in the country...i am heading off in 20minutes (ish) to Laos...my thoughts on Thailand vary but one thing i have to admit is just how nice the majority of locals are...very friendly and most are willing to help...the tourist industry has definately affected the majority of Thailand but Thai hospitality is still the same. I will also have to admit to giving Dad and Lyn and award for organising the last trip and other trips...i don't think one can fully appreciate the work that goes into organising (does that mean i am organised?...dreaded word!) a trip...especially [View Full Entry]

Busy few days... Asia » Thailand » North-West Thailand » Chiang Mai
I am officially tired! Just come back from a 2 day trek through the jungle, after over 4 weeks of doing hardly anything, this showed that i have been living a lazy life. My busy few days started on fri night where we went on a night trek through the jungle up to and through- where i took an involuntary splash onto my bum...no harm done apart from a wet bum and wet sandals...we then relaxed ontop of some rocks where there was an amazing view over Chiang Mai...definately worth the trek and the splash lol. We then made the trek [View Full Entry]

Bowling was a laugh last night...my skills started off very well and everyone assumed i was good at it even though i confessed to the strikes being flukes...i still managed to win the first game, 2nd in the 2nd game and 3rd (out of 3) in the 3rd game...i just peaked too early on my bowling skills...was a laugh none the less. This morning i woke up early for my cookery course and we were taken on a tour of a market- learning all about good and bad...what we should look for in various fruits etc... there was just the 3 [View Full Entry]

Well arrived at the airport this morning and easily sorted out a flight to Chiang Mai and didn't have to wait too long there either, made it to the hostel here which is really lovely and we are going bowling tonight...wish me luck...i have warned them all. Going to book myself into a cookery course for tomorrow and then hopefully if we can get 4 people together go on the guys special trip the following day...if not they do do other treks here which claim to be remote...some guys have just arrived and look a bit tired and crippled so sounds [View Full Entry]

Well today we had the early start...everybody groaned there way out from under the covers to start getting ready...the beds are really comfy here with covers which are just so easy to snuggle underneath- not the best things when you need to get out of bed! We all eventually were ready after some cornflakes and coffee and the 7 of us got into the air-con minibus for our 2 hour drive to the floating market...well as you have to on such trips...well not have to but just one of those things i have come to accept...we first stopped off at a [View Full Entry]

Well i had a really exciting day today...well a lazy day that is for sure. I have done absolutely nothing. We headed out to a stall for lunch and then i have spent the day chilling out in the hostel- much needed rest day. Off tomorrow on a trip to the River Kwai and to the floating market...i remember the river Kwai from before, we have got a tour guide too who was a laugh on our trip round the palace so fingers crossed. I plan to leave Bangkok on Thursday and am heading to Chiang Mai, was going to book [View Full Entry]
