Holidays in Strasbourg Europe » France » Alsace » Strasbourg
As I mentioned another entry, Strasbourg views itself as the Capital of Christmas. As such, they really do the holidays up right! The city is lit up beautifully. Many of the designs and the types of lights are brand new to me. The Christmas markets are really nice as well. All high quality items. As I said before, nothing toxic from China to be found anywhere. I brought home some marshmellow chocolates. They were a little crushed when I got home. But they sure disappeared quickly. Here are some photos of the Holidays in Strasbourg. Enjoy. [View Full Entry]

I have been living in an apartment in Strasbourg since I arrived back in September 2008. I must say that Strasbourg is the prettiest place I have ever lived. The whole Centre Ville area, which is called Petit France, is a World Heritage Sight and for good reason. This whole city is like living in a postcard.. Well, here are some photos. I hope you enjoy them. [View Full Entry]

This morning I drove from seaside village of Cabourg, France, to the Beaches of Normandy and the American Cemetery. I arrived around noon to find the area pretty much deserted. Once again, this is the off season and there are precious view visitors in these parts. The weather was very pleasant as it was around 50' and a calm breeze blew off the ocean. The water was actually much warmer than I expected. Had I brought a swim suit.....well, maybe not. Walking down to the beach and seeing all the German strongholds, pillboxes, and gun turrets gives one the feeling that [View Full Entry]

We arrived at Mont Saint-Michel after spending the night in the quaint seaside village of Cabourg, France Cabourg is definitely worth a longer visit. But the main event for the day would be the Mont, and it did not disappoint. We began to see the vision of the Mont, 12 kilometers away as we left the highway and began the drive throught the coastal plains towards this magical island. All we could see was a misty image through the afternoon haze. It was just enough to whet ones appetite for what was coming. As we got closer, the apparition turned to [View Full Entry]

I would be negligent if I did not post some comments concerning my 2 day layover in Philadelphia on route to my home in St. Louis. Due to "bad weather" somewhere, I was afforded the opportunity to visit the City of Brotherly Love. I found it to be much bigger and certainly much more entertaining than I had been led to believe. I stayed, not courtesy of US Airways, at the Sheraton Suites at the airport. A fine establishment with some wonderful people working the desk. I also took, for the first time the Big Bus tour. I found it to [View Full Entry]
