Today was my first full day in Miami; it is such a beautiful place. The buffet breakfast at this hotel is a completely different class from the breakfast I was having in Orlando and was very tasty. After breakfast, I took a drive to Bay Side, which is near South Beach. When there, I took a Boat Tour of the Miami Islands and was shown the mansions belonging to celebrities such as Cher, Madonna, Vanilla Ice, Tina Turner and a few more. I didn’t realise that the islands are actually man made. After the tour, I visited the shopping centre which was there and had a relaxing time testing out the massage chairs! I also booked tickets to tour the Everglades and Downtown Miami tomorrow. I had dinner at the shopping centre too, in one of ... read more

This morning I got up just after 6am, there was so much to do before I needed to book out of the hotel at 11am. Portia and I went out for a breakfast buffet and bought the last few souvenirs we needed before we left. By the time I booked out and said my goodbyes to Portia, it was 1130hrs when I started my 231 mile drive to Miami. The scenery when driving down to Miami was superb. I couldn’t believe how many police cars I saw, most of which had stopped other drivers. Although driving on this 3 lane main road was very much like a motorway, there seemed to be no particular lane that you overtake in, there was a lot of overtaking and undertaking in all lanes. Driving in to Miami, and then ... read more

Portia and I went to Wet ‘N’ Wild today. The water slides were amazing; I went on all of them, of course. There were two sides which were basically vertical drops, let’s just say that although they were very exciting and scarey (my type of thing), I would only recommend people to go on them if they want the inside of their bottom cleaned!!!!!!!! Very fun, but quite an unpleasant feeling afterwards! :-) In the evening, Portia and I ate at Pizza Hut, after the busy day we had, we could only eat something small and easy. As Portia slept, I packed my suitcases, ready for the morning. At 2300hrs, I went down to say good-bye to the security team, especially George. George has become a really good friend. Earlier in the day I made sure ... read more

Today I had to drive to the post office to post my post cards. My hotel charges $1.50 for a stamp that costs only 94c, what a rip off!!!! Portia and I later had a Subway for lunch and then visited an outlet shopping centre and bought some clothes from Gap. We went to CityWalk in the evening for a bit of nightlife. City walk is just opposite the Universal entrances. After looking around quite a bit, we decided to eat in Hard Rock Cafe, which proved to be a good choice. We had a really good waitress who provided us with a couple of tasty shots free of charge! After popping into another bar for a drink, we then headed back to my hotel at about 1am. We have to get up quite early in ... read more

Didn’t do too much today. I went out for breakfast and had a look around the shops and wrote the rest of my postcards. I then waited for Portia to arrive, putting a load of washing on whilst waiting, very interesting eh! I was lucky that someone had left a whole box of washing powder in the laundry room, so I managed to save a bit of money. I managed to sort the hotel issue out today, finally. As mentioned before, I was supposed to stay in a 4 star hotel in Miami called Riu Hotel. Because the booking had not been comfirmed, the travel agency tried tpo put me in a Marriott hotel, which was only a 3 star! After putting my foot down, I have managed to get an upgrade to the Fontaineblaue, which ... read more

I went to Aquatica today, which is SeaWorld’s water park. The weather was great, 90° most of the day. The water slides were so much fun, one of them was almost a vertical drop head first, and I almost took off at one stage! One of the slides had a clear tube which went through a dolphin pool; it was amazing being so close to them. The wave pool was immense; I must have swallowed half of the water. This place really puts Coral Reef to shame! I did cover myself throughout the day with waterproof sun protection but I still caught the sun big time!!!! I look a bit like a patchy lobster at the moment. Tonight I am just taking it easy and am having an early night as I am finding it hard ... read more

Although today was another rest day, I had to get up early to call my travel rep, re the Miami hotel issue. I have checked out the alternative accommodation and it appears that they have actually down-graded me. I was booked in a 4 Star hotel with bed and breakfast, but the one they have put me into a 3 Star hotel with room only.....lucky that I have done my homework, eh? I have chosen another 4 Star hotel which is really plush and have insisted on an Ocean view!!!! Because of the time difference, and the UK doesn’t work on Sundays, I should find out on Tuesday morning if I have got what I want. Let’s just say I will kick ass big time if I don’t get what I want. Never know, all this ... read more

Today was so relaxing, my feet are still a little sore but I am relaxed, I even had a lay-in! I had breakfast today; I went to a place which does an ‘All You Can Eat Breakfast Buffet’ for only $3.99, very nice and so much to choose from. I found out today that most of the shops take Travel Cheques as payment; at least I won’t have to go to the bank and be charged for exchange now. I went go-carting on a raggedy wooden track today, it was cool and I had the track all to myself, flying around the bends. I then went Indoor Skydiving, which was fun; although I was given a suit which was far too big for me and my goggles kept falling off during flight. It was a very ... read more

Went to SeaWorld today, it was excellent!!! I got drenched 4 times by a Killer Whale, I was soaked, it was so funny. I also fed fish to Dolphins and stroked them too, they feel like rubber. I am hoping to swim with Dolphins when I go to Miami. I am taking a day off tomorrow and just chill out. I don’t fancy going to any parks at the weekend, I am sure they will be busier. I have been very lucky, although the parks seem to be quite busy, I never really have to wait long for a ride, it is quite handy being by myself most of the time. I am ahead of my schedule and looking forward to giving my poor, very sore, feet a rest tomorrow! It will also be nice to ... read more

Today I drove to The Kennedy Space Centre (NASA), which was about 50 miles away. A lot of the main roads charge tolls, most of them are only about 75c, but there are so many of them that it soon builds up. The Kennedy Space Centre was GREAT!!!!! I went on a Shuttle Simulator, which was fun, and saw lots of Rockets and Shuttles which have already been to space and back, amazing. ‘Lunch With An Astronaught’ was very interesting. We had a buffet (included in ticket price) in a large dining hall and John McBride from ‘Apollo 9’ spoke about his experience as the last person to walk on the moon. The next trip to the moon is planned for 2020 with a trip to Mars in 2030. The ‘Up Close Tour’ took us on ... read more
