London, Ireland, and Paris

Just spent two weeks exploring with Billy, Becki, and Mike. The weather was basically perfect, everything is green, and we had a wonderful time. Wandered a lot, played cards, drank ciders, and even went on two free walking tours to brush up on some European history. Time well spent! Heading to South Africa tomorrow for the World Cup with Nate and Michelle! ... read more

I am in Stockholm and having my usual Swedish experience....lots of napping, chilling, wandering and cooking. So, so far so good! Daniel has moved apartments again so I am trying to scope out the new area and figure out where everything is...and that is still very much a work in progress. It is spring here so the weather has been pretty good and there are flowers everywhere and the sun sets so late! Sweden in spring is beautiful! Im heading down to Lund tomorrow to visit friends and go to Lundakarnival (the three day party that they have every 4 years). So that should be an eventful few days! ... read more

My last few days in Turkey were really nice. I headed north to see the ancient city of Ephesus and that was really cool. You are allowed to wander around and there are tons of really beautiful, well carved things all over. Its a pretty trippy place...you can picture people living there a few thousand years ago and imagine a little what their lives were like. From Ephesus I headed back to Istanbul and spent my last day in Turkey just wandering around and eating my last cucumber and bread breakfast and eggplant moussaka lunch. I spent awhile sitting at the Blue Mosque and listening to a call to prayer and people watching. Now I am safely back in Sweden. Turkey was wonderful but it is nice to be able to drink tap water, flush toilet ... read more

Turkey is pretty awesome. I dont think I have ever met a friendlier group of people. They are so welcoming and its pretty hard to get use to. I am use to thinking people are trying to rip me off all the time...but many of the people I met here just want to talk to you and have a tea. Istanbul was cool...but not as exotic or cheap as I thought it would be. Maybe that is because I spent most of my time in the touristy area. I spent most of the days just exploring the bazzar and talking to the guys running the hostel. People here make their tea in two seperate tea pots....one water and one tea...and I probably drink about 10 cups a day. And I am a new fan of eggplant. ... read more

The Jungle

Published: July 12th 2009South America » Ecuador

The jungle was awesome. I had gone before with the Oasis group and had loved it, but this was so different from the first time that I went. We saw tons of big animals (sloths, monkeys, camin, lots of birds) and it seemed like we were much deeper in the jungle. The highlights... - seeing 4 different types of monkeys on our first boat ride. - seeing sloths! - our guide jumping on a camins back..like the crocodile hunter - catching piranhas - swimming in tha lakes - making yuka bread - yelling at wasp and hearing them ´march´inside of their nest - finding wild mushrooms and learning about plants and their medicinal uses - having crazy animals live on the roof above where we slept... read more
