Got to Bontio and had a relaxing night. This was a really nice camp ground and we spent the evening on the grass in a cirlce just hanging out. Got up early….hard to sleep in late while you are camping and feel like you are in a little oven in your tent. Decided to go downtown for a walk and explore. There are all different animal themed phone booths so Becki and I had our fun with that. Made it back for 10:00 snorkeling. Had a great lunch and then went snorkeling in one of the clearest rivers in the world. [View Full Entry]

We finally made it to the Pantanal. It was so nice to have a room with a fan and a bathroom. The place had a pool and so we spent the afternoon relaxing in it. We spent the next few days doing a ton of activities. We went on a horseback ride, nature walk, night safari, and piranaha fishing. Piranah fishing and the boat ride were my favorite. During those two days we saw toucans, a giant anteater, camin, capybara, and monkeys. I caught two piranahs but they unhooked themselves before I got them onto shore. We started our trip by getting on the truck…it was boiling hot and kinda grungier than I had expected. The seats looked worn and it kinda just looked like a big box. The outside looked like a truck you see in children’s books. It was a 4 hour drive to Paraty and it ended up being okay..I moved around a lot and tried to stay cool and comfortable…not such an easy task. So I made it back to Europe...it one piece...and have been enjoying the cold weather and calm of Sweden. It was really nice seeing Daniel again and having a place that I could lay my head without fear of bugs or rats. It was a major shock to go from motorbikes and face masks to beanies and black jackets in a matter of hours. I had a hard time understanding that people were stopping to let me cross the street when I stood in a crosswalk. Sapa turned out to be a winner, despite it raining the first few days. I went on a three day trek and it was wonderful. Highlights of Sapa - - Amazing views of the hills and rice fields - Three hour guided tour by a 10 year old, Emily, who protected us from dogs and the bamboo monster that kills people in exchange for a soda - Drinking rice wine and smoking a hooka with the local family we stayed with - Spending part of the afternoon clearing land where a family would be building a house -Swimming near the [View Full Entry]

Halong bay is wonderful and so pretty. i have never seen anything like it, and i think its cooler than the fjords i saw in norway by far. so we took the tour 45 dollars for three days and two nights with my friends from hanoi. All the tours our the same....unless you go with a really expensive one...so be warned. So after our fun time in the last bar singing and drinking we decided it would be fun to karaoke.
