The last few days I have been in Bariloche...basically the Tahoe of Argentina. It is wonderful and we had perfect weather and a great few days. This town is known for its chocolate…and since it was Easter there was chocolate everywhere. Becki and I spent a good four hours wandering around getting samples and eating ice cream and having a nice lunch. The town has lots of little artsy stores and so we basically just explored and then headed down to the beach to hang out. The whole day wasn’t spent eating though - we spoke to travel agents and found [View Full Entry]

The main reason we went to El Calafate was to see the Perito Moreno Glacier. I guess this glacier is larger than Buenos Aires and is not retreating, so that is pretty impressive. From where we started our little hike the glacier doesn’t look so huge, but when you get next to it in a boat you start to understand how big it is. I guess it is over 200 feet above water. While we were on the boat we were lucky enough to see some of the ice fall. It sounds like a gun shot and then you have time [View Full Entry]

Torres del Paine! It is what I imagined the national parks down here to look like….snow covered mountains all around. I wasnt expecting such cool rocks everywhere and such trippy lake coloring, though. It is very very beautiful. On our first day here we set off on the Towers walk. We had no clue what we were in for. Uphill is the best way to describe it. While we were hiking for 7 hours it was also snowing on us…quite a change from sitting on the bus for days at a time. We ate lunch overlooking the mountains and then hiked [View Full Entry]

The end of the world as we know it! Two and a half days of driving later we have made it to the southern most city in the world. The city is surrounded by mountains and you can see glaciers and snow and the Beagle Channel. It is very very beautiful. Getting here was an adventure, as always. I sat in something that looked like crap (it wasn’t thank god) and was sticky…and it went through my pants to my underwear and it looked like I had pooped my pants. Charming. I won the numpty (basically the loser of the day [View Full Entry]

Moth Attack

Drove two more days to get to Puerto Madryn. We had a bush camp the first night off the side of the freeway. We all went to bed at 915...after watching a beautiful lightning storm. Unfortunately sleep didn’t come extremely easy because we left our tent windows open and I spent the night eating dust…and the bad thing was we had to drive the whole next day too. I was so dirty and gross and covered in dust. The next day we drove the rest of the way to Puerto Madryn. My group was on cook group and we made some [View Full Entry]

So we left Iguazu and it took two days to drive to Buenos Aires. We spent the night in a orange grove and almost got kicked out when the farmers found us….our tour leader had to do some sweet talking and offer them food. It was our first real bush camp and it was beautiful. Buenos Aires was awesome. They city is beautiful and there is so much going on. The people are super good looking too…the best of European and Latin in one! The run down of what I did: - Went out to dinner with the group and then [View Full Entry]

Had a beautiful day at the waterfalls on the Argentina side. I am still really enjoying the people on the truck and having a blast. My credit card got frozen...and called about it today and I guess someone ripped it off somehow (I am guessing the taxi company in Rio). My mom canceled it (thank you) so that made for an exciting ending to a great day. [View Full Entry]

So we made it after 15 hours of driving. Someone got a bad stomach and had to use the poop shovel and poop in the middle of the woods….I am hoping that wont happen to me!! I am a master now at peeing on the side of the road though. So basically that was our adventure here…it was boiling hot again, but when we got to Foz the weather had cooled down! Miracle! I cleverly managed to fall out of the truck and on to the ground. The truck is about 4 feet off the ground. I was being careful and [View Full Entry]
