Greetings from Nicaragua! We left Costa Rica on the 24th after heading back through the capital to perform some business and eat Taco Bell. I had a Crunchwrap Supreme and it tasted delightful. It tasted like the same dirty meat they use back in the states, so it was a welcomed and heart-warming treat. We caught a fancy bus (complete with air conditioning...the first we´d experienced in 2 weeks) after finding out that we were too late to book tickets for the more popular bus line and having to run around San Jose at 7 am. The people were not too helpful in us finding the other bus terminal. I tried to find the number to call them, and they gave me a phone book to panama, which I didn´t realize until a while later. There ... read more

Hola! Throughout the next week we surfed alot, lounged around, forgot to wash the bird shit off my shorts for a copule of days, and said goodbye to Zoran as he left to San Jose to catch his flight back to Canada. Last monday we left Nosara and Juan Surfo for a new destination: Mal Pais. I had heard alot about it on my last trip to Costa Rica, but never made it there so I was excited to check it out. The town is at the bottom of the Nicoya Peninsula we have been traveling around on and getting to her was an all-day event. The day started with a 6 am walk to the bus stop to wait for our first bus. It was the day before the Costa Rican Independence Day, which they ... read more

Traveling to Nosara got off on a great start when we missed our bus and had to take a taxi driven by a one footed man in order to catch our next connection. He was cheerful nonetheless. Next, we got to sit in a bus terminal for a lil while...enough time for some pigeon to take a shit over everything I own. Seriously...It went everywhere. Not just one drop like a normal bird; this one must have eaten too many beans and washed them down with some of the bad water they warn about in all the guide books. He/she slopped it on my shirt, shorts, arm, shoes, and backpack. The locals got to laugh at me from the safety of the buses while I made T-Bag wipe me down and a sweaty Zoran slept on ... read more

My first day in Costa Rica was spent wandering around San Jose, changing money, eating Quiznos, and silently laughing to myself at how excited T-Bag gets when he talks Spanish to other people. We caught a bus out of San Jose on Wednesday, and rode six hours to the beach town of Tamarindo. People like to party here, but not in the methods that Taylor and I are used to. The closest we could find was this dude named Andre who suggested we get three bottle of rum and take it to the bars with us. We are staying at a hostel on the east side of town that is run by a couple of Argentinians. The best break nearby is at Playa Grande, which is a thirty minute walk north, complete with a river crossing. ... read more

Hello all! On September 1, 2009 my good college friend Taylor and I left Florida for a life on the road. With a fresh set of diplomas in my pocket, I set off for an intended six months of travel in Central and South America, Australia, and New Zealand. Saying goodbye to friends and family was hard, as was having to leave my wonderful girlfriend Nicole who has been nothing short of great to me in the last couple of months. My plan is to surf, climb, explore, and meet plenty of interesting folk along the way. This blog serves as a collection of stories I have been apart of along the way . I will try to update frequently and post pictures when I can get a good connection. Hope all is well in your ... read more
