Ok, so weve done quite a bit of traveling since our last blog entry but unfortunately our last few stops have not had the best internet options and neither does our current location. We are currently in our last stop, Rome - and we have been holding out for an internet cafe that would allow us to access our pictures but we have not been able to find any ... so with today being our last day before flying back home tomorrow we figured we would add one last 'no picture' entry and catch everyone up a bit. Since the last entry we wrapped things up in Munich ... Germany turned out to have some of the best food at the best prices. Munich definitely had the best beer and for our last dinner there we ... read more

A hang gliding adventure one day after the engagment? Coincidence? John decided that it would be an awesome idea to jump off the side of the mountain and I was going whether I liked it or not. So promptly at 9 AM our guides who were two 30ish year old stoners, Bernie and Dido, arrived at our hotel in a VW van. We did have a slight delay before loading in the van since Bernie and Dido had to remove the several cases of empty beer bottles strewn about the vehicle from a party the night before. But they did assure us that they had each had one additional beer that morning, so there was no hangover and thus nothing to worry about......... right. Needless to say, we both survived and it was really cool seeing ... read more

Yesterday, we quickly discovered that the Swiss really like Americans. On the 4th of July we woke up to breakfast in our hotel with American flag placemats and mini flag toothpicks in the muffins. It was the most festive either one of us has been in a while. We then set out on our journey to the Jungfrou (one of the highest points in Europe). A few hours and several train rides later, we were at the top of the mountain in about 30 degree weather..... in July. Definitely not prepared for that. Especially since John decided that we couldnt just stand on the look out point and admire the scenery. We had to go OUT INTO THE SNOW.... yuck. But we did go on a pretty cool dog sledding ride. And then we treked several ... read more

Last we talked with everyone, we were just leaving Paris. We then spent the next couple of days in the Rhein Valley of Germany. We had never heard of it until planning this trip, but apparently its the Castle and wine making region of the country. After just leaving Paris and London this was a nice relaxing change, and a chance for our feet to heal.......... until we accidentaly went on a 16 mile bike ride. Now were contending with sore legs and bums. But the ride was awesome and we got to ride along the prettiest stretch of river. We have now just arrived in Switzerland, after a 7.5 hour train ride, but it wasnt too bad considering we got to look at some pretty scenery. From what weve seen so far, this is going ... read more

With one day left in Paris we finally figured out how to get some pictures uploaded using these Marriott computers, so check them out below and enjoy (For the record, Leslie came up with the title for this entry) .... but a guy did walk into this shop we were at yesterday and checked out the merchandise and exclaimed "Ooh la la" ... so they definitely really say that here. We've also heard such classic British catch phrases as "Blimey!" and "Brilliant!" over and over again. So far, Leslie and I are both in agreement that although London was awesome, Paris has a leg up on it. A much wider sprawl with stuff to check out everywhere and as an added bonus, they don't speak our language. While on the topic of pictures, we have already ... read more

After THE longest plane ride, we finally landed in London bright and early on Thursday morning. As we're walking out of the train station with great anticipation, we both realize that we have no directions to the hotel and very large and heavy backpacks. Our anticipation quickly faded. Many miles and blisters later, we finally arrived and our trip began. We were the typical tourists and saw Westminster Abbey, the changing of the Guards (which was cool at times but very long), the London Eye and many other crowded spots. Yesterday morning we took the Chunnel to Paris and we spent today at a mass in Notre Dame and at the Eiffel Tower. Aside from the gay pride festivel going on outside our hotel window, it's shaping up to a good time in Paris! Although we ... read more
