We've been there!
Hey Jaspa, Uluru is a special place isn't it? Mark and I went there about 10 years ago. We didn't climb the rock out of respect for the aboriginal people. You have been doing lots of exploring and learning so many things. I hear you are in Adelaide now and I look forward to some photos from there too. We just got back from our holiday and it is 8.30pm but it feels like 11.30pm so I must go to bed before we head back to Pemby tomorrow. Keep telling us about your journey and I will show the kids tomorrow. We are doing Kitchen Garden this term. Enjoy Adelaide, Mrs Schmidt

water everywhere
I have heard that there is a lot of water in the area you are going into so perhaps it might be worth asking around if lake eyre has enough water in it to make a trip worth while, its very rare and attracts a lot of birds and wildlife. We see a lot of caravans on the road lately as all the eastern state travellers are coming down from up north and are heading back home, they will get a shock when they see all the floods over there. how is the swag going ? keep the news coming!

great photos
glad you managed to get the camera going again! the ones of the mobfest are very good and now we know what the wicked van looks like that you helped paint. they have had a lot more rain than us at Alice Springs this year and it certainly shows just how nature responds to a good season. Keep the photos and writing coming because its great to hear from you even though we sometimes dont have the same exciting news that you do.

Hi Jasper, Its good to get another blog from you. What a lot of adventures you are having and seeing interesting places. Lucky the goanna didn't mistake you for a tree or it might have ran up your back to your head. Its starting to warm up here at last after a really cold winter. Where are you now? Lots of love to you all

Back on the road again
Hi Jasper, Wow your writing is so descriptive. I feel like I am there. You are back on the road again I see. More journeys ahead. I enjoy seeing the photos, especially those amazing rocks and the lizard (good spot!). I will show this to the kids tomorrow at school. We have our Learning Journeys tomorrow night. Last week of school and we are heading to Melbourne and Sydney for our own little adventure. Speak to you when we return. Mrs Schmidt

Hello
Good to get your blog.Whats in the garden Kev?not much by the look of it. Watch out for the Crocs, Jasper. Bianca, I've nearly finished the Girl Who Played with Fire. Found it easier to read than the first one, probably more familiar with the characters and the Swedish names. Hojo has almost finished translating North to Matsumae and has applied for a grant for publishing it in Japan. I thought he had given up the idea. Love to you all

What a nightmare!
Here I was thinking you were having a drama with your wallet. Little did I know what was ahead of you. I am glad you found it as we all discussed who phoned who on Monday morning at work. I gather the Thai food have you the gastro? It almost warrants a phone call to the health department. I am glad you are both feeling better if not a little shell shocked. Sounds like Jasper is enjoying his home schooling. Cool stuff too. The Arts Festival went off without a hitch. Great night on Friday with all the winning acts and the bands did a fantastic job too (if I do say so myself). The guys doing the mixing (Jeremy mainly) did an awesome job. Marj organised a samba style parade with us teachers banging on stuff and making fools of ourselves in lots of colour and wigs. Good fun. Went to the Gloucester after that. Great night of fun and merriment. Feeling very average on Saturday as a result. A fundraiser for the Ambulance (all for a good cause). Swimming this week. Not my class but. I have all the left overs. I guess there has to be some repercussions for having such a small class. Keep me posted. Enjoy the sunshine and tell Kevin not to work too hard. All the best, Michele

Kevin on walkabout
G'day Kevin, I've been following the travel blog, even when I was in Vietnam. It's good to see the photos that you all include in the blog as it shows some of what you're seeing and doing on the road. Your time at this school looks interesting and I'm sure they'll want you to stay a while. How long will you work there? When will the wet come and trap you in the NT? All the music happenings do sound exciting. Catch a big barra for me. Enjoy. Kim.

Must be a contrast to 21 years at Pemberton! :) They put you up in a house or do you have to rent? You should just keep gypsying it in the bus! haha! :) Lots of Love, Charlie.

I wanna be there!
Hi Jasper, Those hot springs sound wonderful. Yummy damper too. I didn't know you could get fireworks in the NT. It is a lovely sunny day here, but still very cold in the mornings. I have just started our school holidays and I am relaxing reading a book for book club. I have finished the book your mum gave me. It was beautifully written. I also read another book called "The Book Thief" It was an amazing book and I recommend it. Has your mum finished The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series? How is Harry Potter going? Jordan is reading the same one as you at the moment. It is very exciting to read about the Quidditch Cup at the same time the World Cup is going on. We watched The Netherlands defeat Brazil (the favourites) last night. There is a sweep going at school and Mrs Morris has The Netherlands. Mark has Germany. They are still in too. Mrs Morris is off to Shark Bay today for her holidays. Keep on trecking. Love to hear what you are doing. Mrs Schmidt

harry here
The book opens with Harry Potter having a dream about Frank Bryce, the ex-caretaker at the Riddle family mansion, who is caught eavesdropping on a deformed Tom Riddle and his servant, Peter Pettigrew. In Harry's dream, Bryce is killed by Voldemort. Later in the summer, Harry, Hermione Granger, and the Weasley family take a trip to the Quidditch World Cup. While there, Death Eaters, Voldemort's servants, storm the grounds, harass some muggles, and run away when they see the Dark Mark in the sky. Albus Dumbledore announces during the welcoming feast that the school will host the Triwizard Tournament, an inter-school competition. One student from each of three magical schools will be chosen by the Goblet of Fire to compete. The other two magical institutions, Beauxbatons Academy, and Durmstrang Institute, arrive at Hogwarts two months into the school term. The champions chosen by the goblet were: Fleur Delacour from Beauxbatons, Viktor Krum of Durmstrang, and Cedric Diggory of Hogwarts. Mysteriously, Harry is also chosen, even though he did not submit his name, and is underage and ought to have been magically blocked from doing so. Ron Weasley is instantly infuriated, thinking Harry submitted himself, and their friendship suffers.

Broome says hello
Kununurra and Lake Argyle sound great Jasper. When your Dad and I were at school in Broome they where building the dam and flooding Lake Argyle including the old homestead. We didn't see the flooding happening but do remember a visit to school by the naturalist Harry Butler. He was involved in a project to rescue and relocate animals that where being stranded as the waters rose in the newly forming lake. He brought a python into the classroom . In those days we used to believe the only good snake was a dead one as we had lots of poisonous snakes around our house. I went fishing in Roebuck Bay yesterday and caught some really nice including blue-lined emperor, trevally, sand snapper and Spanish flag. Last weekend I took Ben and one of his soccermates out and we (they) broke two fishing reels and a rod on big sharks. I can't wait to see more photos of the Top End. I hope you get a chance to see the wonderful rock art at Kakadu . They are very special. Safe traveling, Love Peter
