wow! beautiful. can't wait to get to some of that country myself :) Just decking out my Troopie called Skippy, and hopefully I'll be up there soon!! :P ...soon as in a few months...
I wanna be there! Hi Jasper,
Those hot springs sound wonderful. Yummy damper too. I didn't know you could get fireworks in the NT. It is a lovely sunny day here, but still very cold in the mornings. I have just started our school holidays and I am relaxing reading a book for book club. I have finished the book your mum gave me. It was beautifully written. I also read another book called "The Book Thief" It was an amazing book and I recommend it. Has your mum finished The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series? How is Harry Potter going? Jordan is reading the same one as you at the moment. It is very exciting to read about the Quidditch Cup at the same time the World Cup is going on. We watched The Netherlands defeat Brazil (the favourites) last night. There is a sweep going at school and Mrs Morris has The Netherlands. Mark has Germany. They are still in too. Mrs Morris is off to Shark Bay today for her holidays. Keep on trecking. Love to hear what you are doing.

Hi Jasper ! Hi Jasper i hope you are having a great time! What does a sea snail look like? It is very HOT up there isn't it. How many places have you been to?
harry here The book opens with Harry Potter having a dream about Frank Bryce, the ex-caretaker at the Riddle family mansion, who is caught eavesdropping on a deformed Tom Riddle and his servant, Peter Pettigrew. In Harry's dream, Bryce is killed by Voldemort. Later in the summer, Harry, Hermione Granger, and the Weasley family take a trip to the Quidditch World Cup. While there, Death Eaters, Voldemort's servants, storm the grounds, harass some muggles, and run away when they see the Dark Mark in the sky.
Albus Dumbledore announces during the welcoming feast that the school will host the Triwizard Tournament, an inter-school competition. One student from each of three magical schools will be chosen by the Goblet of Fire to compete. The other two magical institutions, Beauxbatons Academy, and Durmstrang Institute, arrive at Hogwarts two months into the school term. The champions chosen by the goblet were: Fleur Delacour from Beauxbatons, Viktor Krum of Durmstrang, and Cedric Diggory of Hogwarts. Mysteriously, Harry is also chosen, even though he did not submit his name, and is underage and ought to have been magically blocked from doing so. Ron Weasley is instantly infuriated, thinking Harry submitted himself, and their friendship suffers.
Broome says hello Kununurra and Lake Argyle sound great Jasper. When your Dad and I were at school in Broome they where building the dam and flooding Lake Argyle including the old homestead. We didn't see the flooding happening but do remember a visit to school by the naturalist Harry Butler. He was involved in a project to rescue and relocate animals that where being stranded as the waters rose in the newly forming lake. He brought a python into the classroom . In those days we used to believe the only good snake was a dead one as we had lots of poisonous snakes around our house. I went fishing in Roebuck Bay yesterday and caught some really nice including blue-lined emperor, trevally, sand snapper and Spanish flag. Last weekend I took Ben and one of his soccermates out and we (they) broke two fishing reels and a rod on big sharks.
I can't wait to see more photos of the Top End. I hope you get a chance to see the wonderful rock art at Kakadu . They are very special.
Safe traveling, Love Peter

Happy Birthday! Dear Jasper,
I am glad you had a great birthday. We did not make it to The Grotto, but it sounds similar to the places in ElQuestro, so I guess you don't need to be too disappointed to not get there. I hope Dad's back is becoming less "squished" and he is feeling better. How brave you are to wear goggles in such deep, dark water. Amazing that there are so many fish living there. The water was really cold at Emma Gorge as well. Keep on with your adventures. Jordan and Jemma want to know if you are typing all these blogs or is mum?
All the best,
Mrs Schmidt
Thanks for your latest blog, Jasper. You are having such an interesting trip .Where to next? Gail is in Italy but it has been hard for her to get internet and she's been very busy, but has read your blogs. Its very cold and raining here. Pop Art and I will go to Broome for a couple of weeks next month.
Lots of love to you all. Nornie
happy birthday Jasper Happy birthday to you. It sounds like you had a great day Jasper. The swimming and the choccy cake sounds reallt good. I could do with a bit of both here in Kinshasa.
Great news on the leave. You'll be able to see some more really magnificent places as you travel around. Be sure to call into Batchelor, near Darwin. Sandy and i lived on a small farm not far from Batchelor. A beautiful place.
I'll write an email and tell you about my new home.
Cheers
Terry
bush kid! Jasper, you sound like you're turning into a bushman! That sounds like the best birthday EVER! I had my last birthday in Kununurra too, you know. Except I was in a swamp with about a million mozzies singing me happy birthday in buzzy mozzie voices and it was the wet season, so it was 45 degrees and very humid! Have you got your mail yet??? I hope you get to go to some more amazing places soon! love Charlie.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Happy birthday Jasper! I was going to try and call you on your Bday but I ran out of phone credit! ohhh no! I'm glad you had a fantastic day. You are getting old!
Yayyyyy! Woohoo! Congrats! :) Expect the unexpected! Hope the bus keeps running well (hey dad, you should check out the quick-convert single-tank veggie oil conversion kits for $500 at veggiecars.com.au - or vegecars.com.au i forget... the trip could get a whole lot cheaper!) Might catch you on the east coast somewhere down the track!
keep in touch
love C.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASPER HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR JASPERRRRR
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Jasper, looks like you're getting some new teeth?
Did your Dad tell you all about the Aboriginal freedom fighter that hid from the troopers and lived in
Tunnel Creek for years?
I bet there was all sorts of bird life in Winjana Gorge eh.
I hope to cross paths with you all in Darwin in a few days. Best wishes, Kim.
Sunday update Jasper,
Happy Birthday!!! Great to read your latest update. Those photos of Tunnel Creek are really good and show the amazing scale of the gorge. I imagine by now you are heading for Katherine. Today we ent and played golf at 12 mile. Ben and the Broome Advertiser staff had been invited to a golf game at an old blokes place. He has his own golf course in the bush on his property. It's not a very long course but we had good fun and a sausage sizzle when we finished . Jo and I won and Ben and Pip also had an enjoyable time. I'm busy now reading class sets of reports. At least I don't have to write them!
Back to work I plan to set the alarm for 2:30am so I can see Australia vs Germany in the World Cup.
Goodnight
hello from drc Hi guys, looks like you're having a wonderful adventure. Sandy and I used to love wandering through Tunnel Creek and Windjana gorge. It's such a beautiful area and you're so lucky to be able to visit. I've arrived in Kinshasa and have begun settling into my new job here with the UN. Kinshasa is the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is a city of 4.5 million people, terrible roads and lots and lots of cars. I've only seen two bicycles and about 4 motor bikes. Most people are too poor to have cars. The buildings are old and dirty. I can't take many photos because the police don't like it...and there police everywhere. They carry machine guns so I do not try to take photos.
I am working with people from all over the world...more than 100 different countries.
I hope you and your mum and dad continue to have a good trip. i guess you are heading for Darwin. That's a really interesting place so I hope you enjoy it.
Take care and best wishes for your birthday.
Terry
Jasper the trecking guru Wow Jasper,
You are becoming one with nature. How lucky you are to see so many fantastic things. I can picture your dad leading the group with his ukelele. I hope he is okay now and his back is not so sore. It is wonderful that you have met some friends too because they make the trip even more memorable. Maybe, one day you will be able to go to France and visit you future email pal when you travel the world!
Kunnunnura. We loved that place. Are you going to El Questro? We hired the mini mokes for the day and went to the zebra rock gallery. Happy Birthday!
From Mrs Schmidt
It was good to speak to you on the phone today,Jasper, 'specially because its your birthday. Sounds like you're having a great day. Hope your Dad's back is better soon.
Lots of Love
PS the next lot of photos didn't arrive on the blog
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Happy Birthday Jasper. I hope you have a wonderful day - although it would seem that all your days are wonderful at the moment. Were you able to get back to Broome to collect your birthday package? Hugs and kisses from Amo and Sito on your very special day. xxx
Broome calling Jasper,
We have been busy at work since you left. Jo's sister Robbie was here for a week and she had a great time. Since you left Monday I had a call from Kim who only just missed you all. Tonight I'm watching the World Cup in Cape Town. Ben is planning lots of late night soccer viewing with his international mates on his soccer team (Racing Guantanamo) . I finished off the new fishpond on Monday and it all seems to be working. Thanks Kev for your help.
Today i saw the finished artwork made by Hiromi Ashlan with the 1000 Paper Cranes. It's called "Moon rising over red sand" and incorporates lots of beautiful Japanese fabrics.I think your Mum would like it. It will be auctioned tomorrow at the Environs Kimberley fundraiser. I'll try to attach a photo of it on an email. I'm looking forward to seeing where you have got to on your next blog entry.
Peter
