Lately we have been doing lots of driving, driving and more driving. We went to the Eyre Peninsula which was beautiful and we will go back there when it is not rainy. We crossed the Nullarbor Plains. It means ‘Treeless Plains’. It was very flat. We saw lots and lots of wombat holes. The wombat holes were big, small, medium size and all other sizes. They were like tunnels and they didn’t want to get harmed by enemies so they burrowed underground and they made burrows to their friends houses. Some holes were as big as me. On our second night on the Nullarbor we found the perfect place to camp and had a big campfire. I put some brush on the fire and it burnt up really high, about 3cm higher than myself. All the ... read more

Today we did lots of driving and ended up on the Eyre Peninsula at a wonderful fishing and holiday town called Venus Bay. We went fishing. I walked all the way with Dad to the jetty and we walked along the jetty to the very end. Then we set up the fishing gear. We had blood worms, cockles and hooks. First I put a blood worm on and I threw it out with my reel and then I just waited. When I was sitting I didn’t know that little fish were nibbling on it so when I brought it up after a long time there was no bait on the hook. I threw out again and again, but caught nothing, only seaweed. Then I put cockle and blood worm on my hook together and I threw ... read more

Last week we went to Uluru. It was big - humungeous, huge, great, large, massive, gigantic, imposing, vast, mammoth, monstrous, colossal and enormous!!!!!! The colour red / purple/ orange / brownish, it changed when it got lighter and darker, in the afternoon it glowed orange and red, in the evening it turned purple and then brownish red. It was 348m tall and 10.2km around the base. If you climb the mountain the aboriginal people believe that you will get bad luck, so we didn’t climb it. There are lots of stories like the one where someone got turned to stone for lying and there was one where Liru, a poisonous snake, had killed a snake ladies nephew while she was off getting food and she killed him back and she spewed all her poison up and ... read more

We are currently in Alice Springs and the weather is very clear, sunny and cool in the morning. We visited the Reptile Centre and it was interesting to be there. We saw lots of reptiles, like frilled neck lizards, bearded dragons, file snakes, geckos, turtles, lots of skinks and snakes, crocodile, thorny devils. We watched a presentation and we got to hold some reptiles. I got to pat an Olive python, hold a bearded dragon and a blue tongue lizard and pat a Spencer Goanna. My favourite reptile was the thorny devil because I liked watching them race around the jogging track. They were very fast and active. They look like they have thorns all over it and its tail sticks up in the air. They have yellow and black markings and patterns. I already knew ... read more

Last week we went to Mobfest, it was held in Ti Tree. We were there for a week, except we didn’t do school for two days we were there because the day we got there was a set up day and the day after the event was a clean up day. There were 5 school groups, Ti Tree, Laramba, Stirling, Yiripingu, and Neutral Junction camping at the school. I joined the Neutral Junction school group. Neutral Junction was a good school group and a little one too. It only had 9 kids including me. My teacher was Miss Alison and Miss Sue. Some of the kids in my class were Tinisha, Alex, Annie, Gilbert, Kendal. We did activities and music for 3 days together. Different workshops we did were drumming, animation, blowing trumpets and horns, circus, ... read more

While I was in Ngukurr I met lots of friends; Shenara, Lincoln Ross, Eileen and Shauntelle. We played hide the origami rabbit, we did drawings, we also played football and rode my bike. It was good playing with them, they came over every day. I also met Hamish, Arnika, Vashhti and Taylor. They lived at the police station and their dads were policemen. We played with the punching bag, lego and rode up and down the compound they lived in. We also went to the swimming pool together. I also went to Ngukurr school and went to the year 2 class. My teacher was Fiona, she was a nice lady. I never got in trouble, but some other kids did, like in ‘Emily Eyefinger’ (a series of books I read). I did home schooling with mum ... read more

Jasper is becoming part of the fabric of Ngukurr life. He rides the roads with kids calling his name or yelling' What's your name?' to which he calls back many times 'Jasper!'. He has made friends with the kids next door and the policemens' children up on the ridge. His bike is his favourite mode of travel and will often badger us to ride up to the store to get some milk or other stores. He is also spending long days at his 'school room' at home doing the wide range of tasks set for him by SIDE or his mum. The beauty of the place is not lost on him either with dawns and sunsets being the highlights. So far we haven't been able to venture too far from home as the raods aren't kind ... read more

Well, Jasper and I began our return trip to the Northern Territory on Saturday as we headed for Dunsborough for Jasper to see his friend Callum. We stayed there for 2 nights. On the first day I lost my wallet at Old Dunsborough Beach. We went back to look for it (including retracing the 4km walk we had done earlier), but it was not there. Wondering how we were going to get on a plane without any ID, money, car keys or cards was not a fun prospect. Fortunately we received word via Pemberton people (Cheryl, Amanda, Marj, Michele) on Emily’s (Callum’s mum) mobile saying that a guy in Busselton had found it, the first hurdle cleared! Monday and it was off to Australind to visit Nornie and Pop Art for the night. Tuesday we drove ... read more
